It was the best steak that I have ever had - highly recommend to get a person's portion (about 600g of meat) will be good for two. Please get the special Buca Lapi pasta too, and to accompany all the dishes get a nice Tuscan red.

Was fortunate enough to visit and enjoy one of the most memorable dining experiences in my life last year. If you can plan and get a reservation for when you visit I'd highly recommend it. From start to finish this place is absolutely incredible. The service is top notch and friendly and welcoming to all, wine selections were fantastic even their house wine is amazing, food is to die for. Cannot give enough stars to this establishment. Thank you for the incredible evening and experience.

I walked into Buca Lapi on a Saturday night. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed by his owner Luciano, who said, we are fully booked, but i will find a table for you. He sat me by the entrance at a small table which I was so grateful he did. When I read the menu I saw chicken, and went for it. I don’t eat red meat and after being in Florence for over 3 weeks i needed something more than pasta!

The whole experience was unforgettable. I had the best chicken ever, it felt homemade, fueled with love. Then Luciano asked me to try his 2 desserts which i couldn’t resist.

Luciano’s genuine hospitality transforms dining into a journey of delight and connection. Whether you’re indulging in their renowned bistecca alla fiorentina which I saw many guests enjoy or savoring a delicate pasta dish, every bite is a celebration of flavor and tradition. Buca Lapi is more than just a restaurant—it’s a testament to the art of hospitality, where every guest is treated like family. A must-visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience in Florence.”

È uno dei ristoranti più conosciuti ed antichi di Firenze. È situato in una cantina, come era in uso una volta da cui il joke ‘buca’. Offre un’ottima cucina tradizionale toscana. La bistecca è sicuramente il piatto migliore della casa. I camerieri sono molto gentili e disponibili. Aperto solo a cena.

Since 1880 Buca Lapi has been a part of Florence, the vaulted Palazzo Antinori cellar lined in posters while formally dressed servers play well to crowds comprised mostly of tourists seeking an “Authentic” Tuscan meal.

Maintained through slow restoration, old lampshades scribbled with the names of visitors adding to its charm, diners will find white tablecloths plus an extensive Wine list from which Reds such as house Chianti are more pricey than similar local eateries.

The oldest Restaurant in town, and arguably the most straightforward, all tables begin with basic Bread followed by Antipasti including Salads or Soup and Charcuterie including warm Liver on Toast.

Known to make all Pastas on-site, Pappardelle with Wild Boar Ragu frankly underseasoned while signature Cannelloni eat richer thanks to Cheese and Cream, most tables will splurge for €70 Bistecca alla Fiorentina served Rare while Veal Meatballs are overworked and forgettable.

We had a dinner at this restaurant about eight days ago. Great food, huge portions, fantastic service, and reasonably priced.

Fun mix of traditional and eclectic decor accessed through an unassuming doorway that opens onto a discovery of wonderful food and wine. The gnocchi alle patate e spinacci with sage and butter sauce were little clouds of deliciousness and the papardelle al cinghiale just fantastic. Service was beyond impeccable and the wine list left nothing to be desired. Vin Santo with cantucci (thanks Alex) was the perfect end to a spectacular evening

Andare a Firenze per uno spettacolo al teatro Verdi per poi cercare un posto per cenare e trovare il locale dove 50 anni fa portai la mia fidanzatina, ora moglie e nel quale assaporai il filetto stupendo al pepe verde, è stata veramente un’emozione grande. Il titolare logicamente è diverso i prezzi pure, ma siamo stati benissimo ugualmente.

The best restaurant we have enjoyed in Florence. We were treated as individuals, not just another replaceable party. I mentioned ribolitta before I ordered my grilled steak, but said no to it because the steak was very large. When my wife's first course came, he brought me a tiny portion of ribolitta, and I'm glad he did because it was too good to miss.

My steak was superb as was my wife's tripe. But it was the little touches that made this unique. Our waiter was the only one we saw after being seated; there were no handoffs to others delivering food, opening wine, or anything else. Oh, and his wine recommendation...

This place was the best restaurant I ate at in Italy. I did not have a reservation and they had no open ones, but when they realized I was alone, they setup a small little table for me. The manager or owner was so tentative during my meal bringing me a must try free dessert of chocolate cake at the end. They made an exception to give me the veal meatballs half portion for an appetizer and I had the special Buca Lapi pasta for dinner. THE BEST! I also left my credit card on the table and went back the next evening, they remembered me and said they tried to catch up with me outside when I left, but couldn't find me. Honest employees and so grateful I was able to get it back.

I had the greatest experience. Visited this place 15 years ago and had the best chocolate tart I ever tasted in my life - sugar-free, gluten -free and vegan. I was looking for it throughout my trip and visited again. I got to taste the amazing "torta de chocolato fondente" with a tasty sweet wine and told the story to the maitr, who was ever so kind and hospitable. I highly recommend it for the amazing food, the unique atmosphere and the warmth and hospitality. One of those places that you visit once and second time feels like you visit family!!! So lucky to have found it again!

Se potessi darne 10 di stelle, lo farei. Luciano mi ha accolto come se fossi in casa sua, trattandomi con estrema cura, attenzione e facendomi assaggiare tutti i suoi piatti vegetariani e l’ottima torta al cioccolato come dessert. Non solo un’ottima cena, ma un’esperienza indimenticabile. Grazie e alla prossima!

Siamo stati accolti dal Sig. Luciano .. un ristoratore di altri tempi .. ci ha fatti sentire davvero come a casa .. cibo buonissimo, posto bellissimo e lui di una gentilezza unica.. è stata davvero una bellissima serata .. torneremo sicuramente! Grazie di tutto .. Elena e Alessio ..

J'en viens et croyez moi, le sanglier accompagné de polenta a tout de ce plat typique des savoyards!! Ca m'a rappelé mon enfance, avec en bonus un chianti très apprécié. Nous reviendrons avant la fin de notre voyage à coup sûr!!
