Words cannot even do it justice. I took my girlfriend here in early May as a surprise trip, with the intent of asking her to marry me in Provence. I had found La Divine Comedie recommended in articles online and from looking at photos and videos it looked truly one-of-a-kind, and the exact right place to ask the question.||I couldn’t have known how much it would exceed my expectations.||Firstly, in terms of the proposal, the team went above and beyond. I was emailing Kerry back and forth for months before, working out how to make the evening as perfect as possible. Upon arrival I was very nervous, but Kerry calmed my nerves and, away from my partner, showed me everything being setup so I knew it was all in hand. She even snuck me up a beer to calm the nerves beforehand. The night could not have been more perfect and will be treasured memories forever.||Separately, the hotel is remarkable. The attention to detail in every aspect - from the history of the decor to the individual restaurant and day trip recommendations they offer - is exquisite. You can feel how much love and passion the team have for the house, and it radiates through the entire property. You feel truly at home the whole time, which is aided by the teams incredible ability to appear when you need them, but otherwise leave you in total privacy.||There really is no other hotel like this. There may be other luxurious hotels in the area and many will offer comfort - but La Divine Comedie is an experience as much as a house. It is not just a bed to sleep in, it is the story of the trip. But be warned - you may see less of Provence than you intend for not wanting to leave. It is that good.

Absolutely a perfect stay! Quality of the property; the design; the impeccable breakfast; and most importantly, the efforts of one of the most gracious staffs we have ever encountered. They anticipated our every need and gave their best at every turn. We cannot recommend this incredible stay enough. Only 5 suites so don’t dilly dally.

We began our twelve day adventure to Provence in Avignon. After a seven hour plane journey we took the TGV train from CDG airport to the Avignon TGV station where the hotel arranged for a taxi to drive us to LDC(the hotel). As it was a bit late and we were road weary the manager, Dorian was nice enough to prepare a charcuterie meal for us.|Much has been written by other TA reviewers of the gardens that surround the seven hundred year old Cardinal's house. When we arrived at the massive stone gate which surrounds the property we rang the bell and the huge wooden gate opened onto perhaps the most beautiful urban park/garden we have ever encountered. How completely Zen! The grounds included a very private pool.|The venue has very few suites. The public rooms contain some of the most quirky, nee bizarre furnishings we have ever encountered. One of the lounges has a life size camel center stage. Another lounge has a full size statue of a cow. However, somehow the owners are able to pull off this weirdness with antiques and very comfortable couches and chairs. All of the common rooms have views of the gardens.||Our suite, The Aphrodite, was the largest. The room had a round king bed and a second small bedroom so the suite can sleep three. Continuing on with the bizarre, the round bed was surrounded by statutes of monkeys holding lighting fixtures.|The bathroom was large and contained all the necessities.|My only criticism was the couches and chairs in the room could definitely use an upgrade as they are old and uncomfortable.||The staff were SO VERY wonderful. They could not do enough for us to have four pleasurable nights. The breakfast which was included in the room rate was a nice buffet.|The bnb was nicely located near the ancient center of town.|My wife and I highly recommend this quirky but wonderful venue.|Neil/Sharon

There are not enough adjectives to describe how amazing this property really is. 5 rooms, all elegantly appointed and comfortable. Large bathroom with a great shower. We were treated like honored guests by Alexandrine, Dorian and Kerry. Amazing service all around. We only stayed 2 nights, but I wish that I had stayed longer because it is just that nice. Also great location, our room had a great view of the Palace des Papes, and the property is an easy walk to the center of Avignon and great restaurants and attractions. It may not be so easy to find at first(but Alex guided us expertly to the property and was always available to us) but it is so worth it. This is a hidden treasure in Avignon. Our stay there was am amazing experience and I would highly recommend this property.

La Divine Comedie is a wonderful property in the centre of Avignon - a wonderful oasis. It shouldn't be thought of as a hotel, but rather as a luxury bed & breakfast, where the owner still lives in her part of the property. It describes itself as a guest house.||It would be easy to walk past the big, imposing gates without having an impression of what lies behind them.||The staff were friendly and largely invisible.||We stayed in the Anatole Suite on the second (or third floor if you are American). It has lovely views over the garden and is spacious and quiet. It has lovely furniture including a free standing, small bathtub. ||The bed was comfortable. There are sufficient guest plugs to use for all the devices people have. There is a smart speaker in the room, so you can put music on. ||There is plenty of space to put your belongings away. ||The shower had good pressure and the temperature was set on a mixer tap.||There is a mini fridge with free products (water - both still and sparking, orange juice and coca cola). There is a Nespresso machine in the room.||The wifi has a good signal.||The swimming pool in the garden is unheated (at least when we stayed) and there is a jacuzzi in the grounds (not available when we were there).||The communal rooms are full of strange and exotic objects.||Breakfast is a communal experience around a long table, or outside, when weather permits. Breakfast is continental with eggs on offer in the style you want. Coffee is served from a Nespresso machine.||When you return to the house it feels like you are returning to your private home.||We had a lovely, relaxing stay.

La Divine Comédie is a truly special experience — absolutely gorgeous and unlike any traditional hotel. It feels more like staying in a beautifully curated private residence, yet all the services you’d expect from a high-end stay are seamlessly there.||The design is exceptional, full of charm and individuality — you won’t find anything quite like it elsewhere.||And the garden — it’s the absolute cherry on the cake. Peaceful, lush, and beautifully maintained, it adds something truly magical to the whole experience.||The breakfast is served in a stunning setting, and while the quality is excellent, the selection felt a bit limited — especially if you’re health-conscious or looking for more protein-rich options.||The only real downside was the spa: it’s in a separate small building and access is paid, with just one sauna and steam room.||Still, a memorable and enchanting place — perfect for those seeking something out of the ordinary.

It was an amazing experience, worth every penny, the house it’s perfect down to every little detail. The entire staff was beyond nice, and the garden beautiful along with the birds song early morning!

Très bel établissement en plein centre d'Avignon. |Équipée de 5 suites aussi belles les unes que les autres. |Accueil chaleureux avec explications et visite des lieux. |Renseignements sur les visites à faire. |Jolie jardin paysagė |Petit déjeuner avec produits locaux ( yaourts miels jus de fruits..)|Normalement j'aurai du mettre 5 mais certains détails négatifs sont à noter. |Volets envahis de lierres impossible à fermer. |Écran de télévision petit vu la taille de la chambre. |Thé, sel de bain , café non remplacé pour la 2ème nuit. |Hammam en panne , c'était déjà le cas en juin 2024 , j'espère qu'entre temps il a fonctionné un peu.|Mobilier de jardin en fer rouillé .|Quelques petits inconvénients désolants pour un lieu aussi magique.

Nous avons adoré le lieu , la décoration . Le petit déjeuner était délicieux . Nous avions réservé une soirée au coin du feu proposée avec du Champagne accompagné de planches de charcuterie et fromage . Nous avons voulu modifier notre réservation contre des massages , cà n’a pas été possible ! Nous avons obtenu que le champagne soit échangé contre du Gigondas qui nous été facturé au même prix !!!
Autre déconvenue le hammam était en maintenance. Quant à la salle de bain nous avons eu droit à une douche écossaise , mon époux glacée et moi brûlante .
Je me faisais une joie de découvrir cet établissement , j’ai été déçue .
Une mention spéciale pour Dorian qui a été aux petits soins .Merci à lui

Un véritable havre de paix, j ai particulièrement apprécié le calme. Un jardin magnifique et une décoration intérieure magique. Le personnel est très accueillant et sympatique. Si vous devez visiter Avignon n 'hésitez plus! Merci au personnel pour l accueil et la gentilesse.

Stay in a palace/bed&breakfast, in a large and secluded garden in the center of Avignon. Within walking distance of all attractions, restaurants, and shops, the house boasts five elegant suites, each individually designed. A delicious and generous breakfast is served in the garden dining room in winter, and outdoors, poolside in summer. The staff is attentive but unobtrusive.

Troisième séjour de rêve dans cet endroit atypique qui allie ancien et moderne comme nul part ailleurs. Ambiance chaleureuse à souhait. Personnel très accueillant et discret, on se sent chez soi. Décoration extraordinaire, on passe des heures à découvrir la multitude d'objets qui participe à la féérie du lieu. Il faut y aller ! Séjour hors du temps.

Mit großem Auto lieber außerhalb der Altstadt parken. Man kann zwar zum Hotel fahren, aber es werden Schäden an den Felgen entstehen, da die Bordsteine der schmalen Gässchen sehr hoch sind.

We stayed 2 nights in Nov, although it was off season, the hotel was beautiful, the staff were very friendly. The French decoration in the rooms and all around the hotel was impressive, The breakfast was also great.

J’ai réservé avec pour recherche initiale :«chambre d’hôtes » mais il s’agit en réalité d’une structure hôtelière de petite dimension.Nous n’avons jamais croisé les propriétaires.Il me semble que comme le message précédent l’évoque ,les tarifs relèvent d’une structure 5 étoiles sans réelle justification dans les prestations générales.La bâtisse est néanmoins charmante.

Une bâtisse d'exception! Une décoration pour chacune des pièces personnalisées et faites avec énormément de goût !
Le parc pour une maison en plein cœur d'Avignon est exceptionnel !
Le petit déjeuner est succulent.
Personnel aux petits soins et très professionnel.

Dès que l’on franchit les lourdes portes de « La divine comédie », on entre dans un lieu hors du temps : les bruits de la ville sont mis en sourdine tandis que le chant des oiseaux se déploie harmonieusement sur un jardin magnifiquement arboré. Nous avons vécu dans cet écrin une douce parenthèse enchantée, où nos sens se sont émerveillés de tout ce que nous avons découvert. L’ensemble du personnel a été très attentionné tout au long de notre séjour, faisant de ce moment un souvenir gravé dans nos mémoires.

This is a long overdue review for a phenomenal stay at the Divine Comedy, but my phone recently served me up a number of photos that allowed me to imagine I was once again resting by the pool at the Divine Comedy, in what feels like a garden oasis, but is in fact right in the middle of Avignon.

My wife and I stayed here this past summer during the Avignon theatre festival and we couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and charming stay touched off by the property having such a lovely and pleasant team. We enjoyed a great breakfast in the gardens before heading out to see shows and explore the city during the day, until we were in need of an afternoon swim to revitalize us. Can’t wait to be back in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Tout simplement divin.
Nous avons passé deux nuits formidables dans ce havre de paix. Tout y est magique, des chambres, au cadre en passant par le personnel. La décoration est affirmée et vient sublimer le lieu. Un endroit à découvrir impérativement, vous ne pourrez pas être déçu.
