I feel very lucky to have got a room at this small hotel. It’s perfect for solo travellers who are interrailing. The staff were lovely, the room was excellent and the breakfast was great value

Good location close to the train station, pleasant and polite staff on reception. But I found the lift very claustrophobic and used the stairs a couple of times.

The hotel is very close to the train station, and it's 10-15 minutes walking distance to the harbour and city center. The hotel is clean and the rooms are standard,

Avoid at all costs. Paid €200 for one nights stay (prices were hiked due to the Springsteen concert on that night). Checked in at roughly 4pm. Shower head didn’t sit in its holder properly and was wedged behind the pipe with a leftover bottle of shower gel there. Hotel are trying to claim this is false and that it sits in the holder properly. It doesn’t. The plug hole in the shower is also broken. Tea and coffee amenities were just flung across the table. No cups or spoon to make a drink even if you wanted one. The hairdryer is practically split in two, again, the hotel are insisting this is ok and it’s safe to use. ???? There are stains on the curtains and ripped bed sheets. We returned to the hotel after the concert and pulled back the sheets and we were horrified to find sand and dirt in there which must have been from previous guests. We immediately rang reception as that is just disgusting. The gentleman came up to the room and we showed him the evidence. We were told to pack our bags and we could be moved, however, it was now half past midnight and we had to be up at 3.30am for the airport so we said we did not want to do this, plus, the hotel was advertised as fully booked so how could they move us rooms? We asked for the bed to be changed to be told that the gentleman wasn’t trained in housekeeping. How a grown adult cannot change bed sheets is beyond me, so we had to do it ourselves. Pillows are flat as a pancake as well. Might as well|not be there. Complained about all this to the hotel and asked for a refund to be told absolutely not, they don’t think anything is wrong, and when I said if I couldn’t have a refund I would be left with no option but to make the public aware of the state of the hotel as it isn’t fair that people have to endure those conditions for what is supposedly a 3 star establishment. Was then told they don’t appreciate threats. Clarified it’s not a threat, just stating facts as the photographic evidence shows. Also no mini fridge which although isn’t advertised feels like it would be expected/needed in a place that’s so warm and supposedly 3 stars. Only positive is the man who was on reception when we checked in was lovely. Location ok for a walk to the port but it’s also very noisy with traffic outside. One final thing, if you have even a remote fear of lifts then avoid this place as the lift is like something from a time warp and you can barely fit one person in there.

Okay, starting with the positives, the location is VERY good (the whole reason we picked this one was its proximity to the train station) and the staff were lovely. There was a working elevator, the room was clean, and the bathroom was spacious. We did come during a big festival by accident (we were not there for the festival), so the staff was a little harried and we did have to ask a few times for towels, but I don't expect that's a common experience.||Now for the rest. Unfortunately, the wi-fi didn't work in the room at all, only in the lobby where it's least helpful. We tried the hotel breakfast to help with time management and we should have saved our money and eaten out. (They forgot our order, placed the night before, the pastry was burnt, and the portions were teeny tiny. Not worth the money.) There were burn marks on the linoleum in our room that looked really gross (on both sides of the room!) The provided "hair dryer" was a hose? Literally just a hose in the wall that blasted air? It was very strange and ineffective. The beds were extremely firm and the pillows were laughably bad. The "thin" pillow option felt like it had nothing in it while the "thick" pillow option was half-filled with what felt like foam chunks, so you weren't lying on a pillow but rather a lumpy, unsupportive sack. I'm glad we only stayed one night.

For a short stay in Marseille, this hotel is ideal. Rooms are small but adequate, clean and enough for one´s needs. Staff is friendly and attentive to guests´ needs. The area is as central as it gets, just cross the road and you are at St Charles railway station. And for such a central area, the rooms are surprisingly quiet at night. All in all, a positive experience and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Please be sure to look at other people’s photos, not the hotels. |There is less natural light, especially when facing the courtyard site. |At the window, there is a decaying shutter showing stagnant water and rusted metal for a view. |WiFi, indeed is extremely poor. You are pretty much better off using cell rather than the local network. |Additionally, there were many cigarette stains on the floor and a lingering smell in both the hallways and room.

A refaire

Great budget place to stay if you wanted to put your head down for the night. Friendly reception who spoke a decent amount of English, enough to have a conversation with. Bed was comfy and it's right across the road from the railway station. Free wifi.

You get what you pay for and there are reasons why this is a 3 star hotel.

We were there in June. The folks at the front desk were very friendly and helpful (both spoke English well), but everything in the room was half broken (the safe was locked open, some outlets were falling out of the wall, the showerhead was leaking...) and the area was a bit questionable on a Saturday night. However, it was super close to train station, so very convenient, and the room just needs a bit more TLC.
