J’ai passé un agréable séjour à l’Hôtel Excelsior. L’emplacement est idéal, tout près de la gare et à quelques minutes du centre-ville. Le personnel a été très accueillant et professionnel tout au long du séjour. La décoration des chambres est originale et soignée! Merci beaucoup ????

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was divine, and the staff was extremely accommodating. We loved the decor, the charm and the proximity to the train station.

Another amazing stay at Excelsior for the second year in a row, thanks to the incredible hospitality; every detail made my visit feel special.

The room was impeccably clean and cozy, and all four members of the Reception staff went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. I especially appreciated the hotel’s location, delicious breakfast, quietness, cleanliness, and helpful staff.

Excellent location if you need the train, and the waterfront is within walking distance. Staff were excellent as well. The room was clean and decorated nicely. The two single beds pushed against each other were comfy. I particularly liked the pillows.

EDIT: Note that this is NOT a 4 star hotel based on the usual 5 star standard. I have learned that France has an agency that rates hotels on their own 1-4 star scale, which is essentially just a checklist of basic amenities. This establishment has achieved 4 stars on that scale. This scale does not line up at all with what one would typically expect when reading this is a "4 star hotel". The below was written when I assumed they were 4 stars based on the more international system that I'm used to. Since learning that, I've adjusted my review from 2 stars to 4. This should be more more obvious on Maps and other booking sites, as it's misleading to potential non-French guests.

However, for a place that bills itself as 4 stars, I am disappointed. I have been in motels in North America that were very nearly as nice, for a fraction of the cost. The AirBnB I stayed at (also in Nice, and near by) a week prior was cheaper and much nicer, offering complementary champagne, beach towels, a larger room, and a full kitchen. My gripe is that I expected a much more luxurious experience from a "4 star" hotel, but got very middling facilities. If they advertised as 2 stars, or maybe even 3, and brought prices down somewhat, I wouldn't be nearly as harsh with my rating.

The toilet being in a separate closet from a sink was odd at best, and unsanitary at worst. I do mean a closet, I'm 5'10 and if I was any taller I wouldn't have been able to close the door while sitting on the toilet.

Breakfast was offered for €19 (smelled good, but I didn't partake). The bar was closed the evening I was there (or didn't open until the night, unclear). The outdoor area with the small pool and bar was nicely decorated. If there was a proper restaurant for not-breakfast or room service, I was not made aware of it and didn't see it.

Frankly, I didn't experience anything outright bad, and I want to call out the staff again for being excellent. It's just that this is not a 4 star hotel despite advertising as such. It's not a bad place to stay, just poor value.

L’hôtel séduit par son personnel attentionné ainsi que par sa charmante piscine intérieure entourée d’un joli jardin.

The staff were friendly. I didn't like our room it was purple & blue but my son liked it. We booked in an emergency as our previous accommodation was terrible. This room was a "deluxe" it said and had a small balcony which was nice for fresh air. The shower was very good and the beds were comfy. The staff were polite. The Air conditioning worked. My biggest problem was that there were 10 fake drawers in the room. 1 set disguised a fridge which was on very very low. But not one of them could be used so you had all your things out everywhere which made it very untidy and depressing. It had one very dark wardrobe cupboard with no light in it and 5 coat hangers for 2 people. I asked for more and was given one. We didn't have breakfast as there are plenty of places nearby to get get a croissant or Pastries and a drink for 6 or 7 euro. Wouldn't stay again.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the best experience at the hotel nice excelsior. Upon arrival my bathroom was not clean. There was mold on the walls of the shower not in the cracks but on the surface that could be easily cleaned. Also, they put clean towels onto a dusty drying rack. The bathtub seemed worn out with various yellow cracks. And the back of the faucet had so much buildup you could see it with the naked eye. I notified the staff and they said they will take care of it but the next day I come back and everything is the same way. Also, there was a weird smell when you got into a room. I tried to open a window to get in fresh air but it didn’t get rid of the smell. I just expected more cleanliness and attention to detail from the 4 star hotel. They did give me free breakfast for the duration of my stay though. On the other note, the hotel had a nice pool and kind staff. The breakfast was good with various options. Great croissants and egg potato tart was delicious. However, one morning I saw cucumbers that had mold in them as well. So I was a bit disappointed with that. I came in with high expectations that unfortunately didn’t become true.

We found this hotel perfect for our needs - very close to train station. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, beach area, old town. Staff at reception were friendly and professional. Rooms were excellent in terms of facilities and cleanliness. Would have loved to stay longer.

Nice hotel in a historic building in elegant area of Nice. Highly recommended! but if you come by car, remember public parkings will set you back a minimum of 30€ per day
