We were a group of 22, with 11 children. The host was aware of this upon booking. At the end of our stay, we cleared down the house, stripped the beds and put kitchenware away. Unfortunately, one of the sun loungers ripped during our stay, we brought this to the attention of the host. They informed us that they will need to replace the sun lounger at a cost of €240 and asked that be paid in cash or bank transfer, we agreed and paid in cash.
After our stay we learn through the villas social media that the host was most upset with us. She posted many times about things such as a broken lightbulb, a bloody sheet (nosebleed), stickers on furniture and a dirty oven. I can understand that any one of those issues are annoying, although it has always been my expectation that a few small issues arise during a stay as they do in everyday life. Nonetheless, if she contacted us through Airbnb to discuss this, we would have been happy to listen and offer compensation if appropriate.
Posting our ‘disgusting’ behaviour to an open social media platform, one in which our family or friends may have been following because of our stay, is not appropriate.
I find it incredulous that the host post on her social media that she managed to fix the sun lounger for “€0”, which questions why we were charged €240. It feels like we have been ripped off a little here, which I see on other reviews others have felt.
Overall, great place for small groups and those without children. Be sure to clean the oven after use or be prepared to receive an online shaming!
Edit:
It is a shame you have had to resort to lies to try to defend your position. Almost nothing in your response is accurate.
I have no malicious intent towards you, but can understand that you will take negative reviews badly. It’s a shame you don’t show any interest in trying to reflect on these comments to improve your clients experience, but instead resort to falsehoods to justify your terrible behaviour.
