I spent three days in Paris as a short break from visiting Rellies in the UK. I planned to be on the go a lot and so wanted a quiet, clean, safe hotel in a convenient location. After doing extensive online research, I settled on the HMO. The location is great -- near the Jardin des Luxembourg, the metro station, and 10-12 minute walk from Place St Michele / Notre Dame. Clean, and most importantly for me, quiet. Room 37 had a double bed but was small -- it would be difficult for 2 people with a suitcase each. Small, clean, modern bathroom. Elevator. I didn't try the brekfast. Front desk staff were kind, polite, and helpful. Hotels in Paris -- unless you're going for 5 star -- are mostly smallish and pricey. All things considered, I felt HMO was good value and contributed to the success of my trip. Merci bien!

Nice hotel in a good area. Rooms are small but clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was provided at a charge which was a little disappointing as it was continental. Would have been nice to have at least a cup of coffee. Would recommend as a comfortable and nice stay.

I love this hotel. It is the only place I have ever stayed in Paris. Perhaps because we stayed here way back in 1985 on our first trip to Paris when we were young. That may be why I love it so much. We stayed at the top back then and stayed up on the top floor again this last time. It has long been remodeled since way back when. We love the location and our little restaurant is just down the street. It has a super location near the Luxembourg Gardens, metro station and many shops, restaurants and my chocolate mousse store. We love the staff here, they have always been kind to us. We never eat breakfast at any hotel and we have never had it here. We prefer to go out, if we eat at all for breakfast. Our room was quite large and in excellent condition. I plan on staying here next time too…I will always stay here.

We loved so many things about this hotel. The location is fantastic! Rooms are very clean and updated. Beds are very comfortable, wonderful linens, and showers are hot and have great water pressure. I see other reviewers mentioning rude staff, but we had uniformly good experiences with the various staff members.

We were, however, disappointed with our room. We booked one of two two-room family suites. The photos of the family suite on the internet are obviously of the other unit (54). Our unit (55) was significantly smaller. It appears to have been a one-bedroom suite that was turned into a two-bedroom family room by constructing a teensy closet in one corner of the living room. The room with two twins was Paris-small but tolerable, but the room with the queen bed was so small that it was almost claustrophobic. I stuck my foot out from under the covers and smacked it into the closet wall, about 6 inches away. The head of the bed was just a couple of feet from the door, which opened right into the elevator lobby and then the main lobby. It was so loud that we were forced to sleep with ear plugs in. The office was in the room immediately next door, and the staff didn't appear to make any attempt to be quiet in the morning when we were still trying to sleep. The only furniture in the room besides the bed and tiny nightstands was the smallest of desks with a tiny chair. Nothing else could fit in the room. There wasn't anywhere to put a suitcase.

Anyway, we were a little bitter that we got tricked by the photos for the other (larger) family apartment. The diagram in the photo shows the two family apartments. The L shaped part of 55 is a hallway and the bathroom, FYI. We got a peek in the other family apartment and it made us sad. We would consider staying again, but definitely not in room 55, and not next to the office.

Breakfast was excellent quality, but selection was limited. I'm not sure it's worth what they ask.

Also -- highly suggest upgrading the vent in the bathroom. The corners of the room are showing mildew. It was really hard to get it dry in there.
