My husband and my self visited the Scotsman Hotel for an afternoon tea and cinema experience
When we arrived at the hotel we had a very warm welcome in and were quickly seated we were looked after by a senior member of staff who was first class, looking after our every need the savouries and sweets were amazing all hand made and baked fresh
I would recommend the afternoon tea at the Scotsman it’s a first class experience.
To finish off the day we visited the in-house cinema, this was fantastic, the seats were sumptuous and well spaced out with side tables for snacks and drinks

Not paying 500 pounds for this. Ridiculous service, far below the standard. Manager Kieran James discriminates guests from skin color and gender. Not recommended at all.

I would give 0 star if possible. This is the worst hotel I have ever been to.

As a young Asian female who traveled from the U.S. for spring break, my experience at Scotsman Hotel was profoundly disappointing and unsettling. Initially, everything seemed normal when I checked in early at 7 AM, though I was told to return at 3 PM as the room was still being cleaned. Surprisingly, I received a call from Deputy General Manager Kieran James at 2:30 PM, who requested to discuss something in person.
Upon arrival, Kieran informed me that due to a leak in someone else's room, it was necessary to relocate my friend and me to another hotel. He claimed that the alternative accommodation was similar and that our room was 'upgraded.' However, the reality was significantly worse—the replacement hotel had smaller rooms, lacked amenities like an elevator and room service, and was much cheaper than what we had paid for at the Scotsman Hotel.
Kieran James' decision to specifically move us, without clear justification, alongside his dismissive attitude towards our concerns, felt discriminatory. His polite demeanor noticeably shifted when interacting with guests of other races.

Despite promises of a full refund and assurances of sending an email confirmation, Kieran has since become unreachable, ignoring all correspondence and failing to process the promised refund. The hotel has also refused to provide any compensation for the significant downgrade in our accommodations.

This experience was not only a major disruption to our travel plans but also made us feel unfairly treated. I cannot recommend Scotsman Hotel to anyone, especially for those who expect fair and respectful treatment.

Amazing hotel! We had a great stay at the Scotsman couldn’t have asked for more. The rooms are very modern while still manage to keep the hotel more classic and welcoming. If you like breakfast you couldn’t ask for more and the grand cafe is great too. In a prime location can we a bit frustrating for parking but worth it other wise. One of the only down sides along with could do with a couple more hook for coats in the rooms.

We are looking to definitely go again in the near future.

Just finished a 3 night stay at The Scotsman. While the hotel is well located within Edinburgh, the quality of the room and the service left much to be desired. After the first night, we noticed a terrible smell coming from the shower drain, almost like natural gas or standing water. The shower drain seemed to be clogged and wouldn’t drain after showering either. They sent someone up to fix the issue, and he sprayed the shower drain with bleach and informed me that someone would be by the next day to fix it. While the clogged drain was eventually fixed, the smell continued to come back for the duration of the stay. We tried to order room service the second night, and the plates were brought up to the room uncovered, and were just handed to me at my door. We noticed multiple thick, black hairs in the food right away and called the front desk to have the food taken back, appetites completely lost at this point. A receptionist came up and made me point out exactly where the hairs were in the food, almost as if she did not believe me, before taking it away. Finally, during the last night, someone pulled the fire alarm at 2:30am, waking everybody up in the middle of the night. The hotel did not give us any more information about what happened regarding this. Overall I would not choose to stay here again, as there are other hotels equally well located with much better service and room quality for the price.

Very nice experience!! Room is excellent, shower is one of the best I had. The reception team is super kind. The internet in the room was not working and they gave me a EE router for the room. In front of the train station and close to everything . Highly recommended !!!

My wife and I just returned from a trip through London, Edinburgh and Dublin, and The Scotsman was the nicest of all the hotels we stayed in. It has a very old-world, grand feel to it, and the service matches the atmosphere. Our room was excellent, too, with a great view. And you can't beat the location — perfectly situated to walk to all sorts of Edinburgh destinations.

Tip: If you're arriving from the train station, look closely for the Market Street entrance...it's easy to miss.

Didn't stay here. Ate @ the Grand Cafe. Very nice. Russia was very receptive.

Billed me for item from the minibar when I have never touched a minibar in my life. Then said they would refund me and they didn’t. Crooks

Everything is perfect! From check in to check out. Great location you don't need transportation. A lot of restaurants nearby and also groceries. Huge and special thanks to Ivor! He carried our bags and showed us the way to the train station until we got to the first class lounge. Definitely recommend ????????????????????

Lovely room, great location, friendly well trained staff, excellent breakfast...will defo be my go to place to stay when in Edinburgh from now on.

Went in just for drink. Reasonably priced considering the palatial surroundings and the staff were excellent.

Situé en plein centre ville, en surplomb juste derrière la gare, se dresse le Scotsman Hotel. Pour y accéder, n'hésitez pas à emprunter l'escalier qui le jouxte (marches en marbre magnifiques). Partout, du sol au plafond, on y retrouve le même tartan. Les nombreuses chambres sont très confortables et propres. Tout en étant ancien, cet hôtel est luxueux. Le service est impeccable. Le petit-déjeuner que vous le preniez continental ou écossais est très copieux, vous pouvez également commander des plats à la carte ! La ville toute entière est à vos pieds mais vous avez aussi la possibilité de prendre un bus juste devant l'hôtel pour vous rendre où vous voulez.
