A fantastic place, food is excellent and locally sourced while the staff are very friendly, interactive and knowledgeable about the food.

Stumbled access this place by accident. The food was great and the service even better. Would recommend booking ahead as it was very busy at 5:45 on a Tuesday afternoon and we only just got a table.

Family had a good meal. As a veggie though, the choice is limited and the spelt and lentil burger is as exciting and tasty as it sounds.

Ristorante carino e cibo di qualità.
Come Antipasto abbiamo provato l'haggis che non avevamo mai assaggiato e ci ha piacevolmente sorpreso, consiglierei di provarlo.
Come portata principale abbiamo mangiato la pie di carne, molto buona e la consiglierei assolutamente.
Sull'onda dell'entusiasmo abbiamo preso anche un prosciutto (tipo stinco) ma pur essendo buono non ci ha soddisfatto appieno, soprattutto le patate che erano intrise d'olio, strano ma buono l'abbonamento uovo e cocco che accompagnava il piatto.

Tornando indietro forse proverei la pie di pesce...

I was welcomed when I entered the restaurant. Food was good but nothing special about the it. Ordered rabbit terrine for starter, Steak pie for main and the rhubarb tart for dessert. I was hoping that the restaurant will surprise me with the complexity of each dish.
Service was okay, my only complaint is the lack of attention when it comes to customer service. Ive been to some of fine dine restaurants and always expecting for a great service.
I’ll still be back and hoping to see improvement in the service.

Un adresse où l’on aimerait venir tous les jours pour tester tous les plats à la carte! Nous avons suivi la suggestion pour les entrées et nous nous sommes régalés! Les portions sont généreuses donc nous n’avions plus de place pour le dessert mais nous reviendrons avec plaisir! Merci pour votre accueil et pour ce moment ☺️

Meat pie was very tasty but could do with more pastry (wafer thin) and more filling. Felt a bit mean. Fish pie only warm.... But tasty. Waiter was very rude and surly. Clearly an English hater. 6 out of 6 of us won't return.

Impressive waiter and delicious food from starters to mainstream with several Scotch Whiskey Stories/Flights to choose from or many options for a simple dram. Charming atmosphere so don't let the open door view be deceiving, go in and walk to the rooms on the left.

Exceptional food. Scallops as a starter was great, then one of the specials of the day was lamb three ways. Dessert was a dark chocolate and orange eclaire. Sensational. I've eaten there 5 times, never had anything but a great experience each time.

The braised ox cheek was sensational and so rich, a very delicious and hearty meal - perfect for the Edinburgh weather. The sticky toffee pudding was perfect, too.

Restaurant charmant avec une ambiance un peu tamisée comme on l’aime. J’ai pris un Sunday Roast très bon et très copieux. Un petit bémol cependant pour le staff masculin qui contrairement à leurs homolgues féminins, avait l’air un peu aigris et pas vraiment souriant. Je recommande tout de même d’y aller pour leur cuisine qui est excellente.

Excellent atmosphere. Staff were super friendly and helpful, especially the Greek waiter. Food was great and priceworthy with lots of good options, including vegetarian ones. The restaurant was nicely decorated with atmospheric lighting and music.

As others have said, you leave this place expecting more. The atmosphere is good and staff are attentive however the food is average. The steak pie which is one of their main dishes has the bone sticking in the middle which looks good. The pie itself is quite watery and tasteless. The fish and chips were good though.

One of the worst service experiences I've encountered at one of the most expensive restraunts I've eaten in.

The table was booked online and card details required. The booking portal asked where we'd like to be seated but upon arrival we were not were we asked to be seated. The menu online was very simple but online lots of information was omitted. I ordered a pint of Edinburgh Gold which was £6.50 and this was not to my taste at all but at that price I wasn't going to let it go to waste ☺️. The cheapest glass of wine on the menu was nearly £14 which was nice but nothing to write home about.

Now the food- personally I had the steak pie which was very tasty but for a dish that cost £20 it came with no veg or side it was the pie only in a modest size dish. I ordered the mash with it which was an extra £6!! It was very ordinary mash and certainly not worth the cost. My partner had the fish pie which had a measley amount of fish inside and really was more egg.

Service - I don't even know how to rate this as we barely received any at all!!! The bald fella (like myself) didn't interact with us at all, he literally said as few words as possible. He reached over without saying excuse me and at the end of our mains brought us dessert menus without asking. We'd decided early on to end the experience as early as possible.

To summarise the food was tasty but portions are honestly small!!!

Prices are outrageous our total was £65 for 2 mains a side and 2 drinks!!!

Service was non existent!!! Was it because we were 2 blokes and our waiter isn't a tolerant person? Had he a bad day and brought his problems to work? Lord knows but save your money there are much better restaurants than this one at a fraction of the price.

Charmant resto avec un décor rustique-chic à Edimbourgh. Quel plaisir de s'y attabler!!!
