Amazingly cute hostel! The ambiance is very relaxing and cosy and the rooms are very clean. The staff are also very friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to LA

There is something seriously lacking with this stuff, starting with the hosts.
The middle eastern lady won’t let you talk to her and acts like she is working for some confidential top secret agency. Relax. You are working for the Steady Hostel, dear, we know they can’t be paying you that well.

My daughter was asked to leave because the staff accused her of stealing some food from the communal kitchen. Mind you, they do this to plenty of other guests whether they have left or whether they decide it is the food or guests actively still staying. What despicable kind of behavior is this? Utterly blasphemous, I just have no words for the horrid experience my daughter has had here.

Then when she packed all her luggage to leave this place as per staff members’ request, she left the luggage by the door and went to grab coffee with a floor mate from Steady Hostel. After being stuck in traffic and getting stuck, they came back a little late. Much to my daughter’s dismay, my daughter’s baggage was stolen by then. Whether you believe it not, though you should, the owner of the hostel showed absolutely no remorse.

But thankfully, my daughter was smarter than to just give up. She was quick to make police report of the incident along with cctv footage the owner grudgingly gave into giving after she did her due diligence in asking for it over and over again. Fortunately, the bank allowed an instant refund after hearing of the utterly terrible service at The Steady.

Oh, get this! Upon booking her new stay at a new location in Koreatown, at an address listed under a fake one so that the place seems fancier, the owner of the listing cancelled her reservation. He did this the day of so that he didn’t seem shady, but joke’s on him. That was STILL shady, and he happens to be the same owner running The Steady Hostel. What does that say to you? This man doesn’t care about the well being of his guests at all. You are just a paycheck! And a transaction.

Also, the heater wasn’t working last I heard. Maybe the owner should take his residual cash from his earnings and apply it to some proper heating for his future “guests.”

Bathroom was disgusting and I cannot believe I was asked to leave even after having my food and my roommate’s food tampered with on multiple occasions. Also had my suitcase stolen during my time here because staff would not allow my luggage to be in the communal storage room until 18:00. They complained my maximum hours allowed was until 11:00 and were kind enough to even allow me to stay until noon, but now I have $2,000 worth of presents missing. I look forward to my refund from Chase Bank soon because this is absolutely unacceptable.

I was mortified. I wasn’t even going to leave a review, I was giving them a chance to remedy the situation and make it right, but they refused to do so. This place is disgusting, from the front door to the bed. The staff is not helpful, whatsoever, they speak as if they’re an automated person. The bathroom was awful, bugs everywhere, mysterious spots, hair clumps in the shower, the room was dirty and there was a foul odor that didn’t seem safe to inhale, it was so strong and toxic I couldn’t sleep there, I left and slept in my car. I took pictures of how nasty it was and wish I could post them. Dirt on the walls in the pod, the pillow was old and yellow, the sheets were dirty and smelled bad, there was also some hard brown substance left under my sheet, I almost threw up at the site of it. It was awful. Do not stay here, there’s hostels all over that area that are better and cheaper. They are a joke and should be shut down, it’s so bad I’m calling the health department, no one should have to live in those conditions, not even for a night. Please be cautious, especially if you’re a WOMAN! I was in the bathroom and the staff thought it would be a good idea to bring a man in to show him around, while I’m exposed, no knocking or anything. Don’t waste your money. This place is absolute trash.

I’m actually really happy you responded, it made me recover the photos and come back to this review and finally was able to add them. Say what you want about my PERSONAL feelings and speculations on how my day was going, I get you have to justify your actions and defend your business, cool, but your hostel is still disgusting, with or without my PERSONAL opinion. And extort you for a $30 stay? lol please, you sound ridiculous. Who wouldn’t want some type of accommodation after being set up with such a NASTY establishment, that I didn’t even sleep in?!

My name is Ami, but all my friends call me Ami-Grace. I've never felt humiliated like I have, especially by another immigrant. It was very cold today in Los Angeles, so I asked a staff member if I could get an extension cord to keep the heat closer to me, as the window was open. The humane thing to do would have been to reply "yes, absolutely", let me do that for you, but instead she was so rude she literally tried to talk down to me. She spent 30 minutes on the phone trying to convince the manager, who isn't even on site, to refuse to give me the extension cord, just to see me get cold. I really hope and pray that she finds peace and happiness because she's very unhappy. Oh and she told me "you are leaving tomorrow". Aka I wish I can kick you out. I'm going to leave fine but make sure you hire people with heart because I'm sure that hers is replaced with a rock instead of a heart. I wish her the best and happiness because she is very unhappy. She literally told me I hate you but she doesn't even know me.

The steady hostel is a very good hostel. The staff does a very good job at making everybody feel welcome. The place is very clean. The beds are comfortable. The place has free breakfast. The place offered free walking tours, and also ideas for a night out. The music was nice and overall I would highly recommend. Israel, Simona, Terry, Lubna, Fernando and the rest of the staff were all awesome people!

Sometimes people take the wrong towel. It would be nice to have long racks to dry towels, but there aren't any, so all the towels are hung up and they mold and smell. No air circulation in the rooms, so you can smell everyone else.

Also there are not floor cleaning in the rooms, so the rooms have definitely seen better time, maybe when they first opened, it looked like the pictures.

BEST HOSTEL IN LA!! When I come to LA My first choice always is The Steady. They literally make you feel like you’re at home. It’s always clean, comfy, and they serve breakfast! The area is very convenient as well, you have access to the buses, subways and there are many surrounding restaurants!

Great staff, close proximity to many attractions. I slept in the pod and had no issue sleeping. It has solid walls and a curtain for your privacy. Nice and cozy area to sit and have your breakfast (free of charge). It was also a nice place to interact with other fellow tourists. Lulu was amazing. She was always there to help me out. She made sure that everyone gets fresh coffee in the morning! Definitely recommend this place!!

The staff is super friendly and helpful. There’s are four bathrooms and more shower. Really cute, cozy and clean place. You feel like you’re at home ????
Have to many plants ???? and the living room is a great place for work, have deep conversations and relax. They offer free breakfast, towels and drinks. Teffy was super great with me she always open to help. They’ve tours and events. The rooms are clean and privates. They have one female room super cute decoration. The music is always great ????

Clean, beautiful, good location

I have stayed at a few hostels over the years and this is the best. Rooms were clean and cool, the place was pretty clean overall, they have a great cereal selection for breakfast, and comfortable common areas. I need to mention one more thing: the staff really make this place something special. They are very kind and sweet and make you feel like they are friends. The guests are also kind and respectful (I supposed it attracts people with the same vibe). I highly recommend, especially for the price, you can't beat it.

Great place to rest up

Super sweet little hostel hidden away in LA. It’s cleaned super tidy everyday and has a nice little breakfast.
Lots of plants and it feels like you are staying at an eccentric LA friend’s lovely 2nd story apartment.
Christian was a lovely host and super helpful as was the rest of the staff.
Pretty safe area as long as you don’t stray too far. The subway station is just on the other side of the college campus. The campus has good security.
The pizza place Du @ Vu is a few doors down and very good. Parking is ample around the campus. I parked on heliotrope for free 8pm-8am and then 6 hr parking during the day for $4/6 hr.

Your staff is wonderful! The vibe is wonderful! The people who were staying in the rooms with us were wonderful. It was a wonderful place. Very good for a single night stay in LA. Highly recommended! Thanks! ????????

The people are friendly. They staff is great. I had a nice time here. And I did not have a pod but other guest where happy with it. I missed the privacy in my room. There was no curtain for the individual bed. But next to that. I liked the place.
