The town of Port Grimaud is very charming, with great access to Saint-Tropez by boat or car. It was a perfect base for exploring the area.
One unexpected perk was the laundry service, which was a great deal at 40 euros per bag. I also left a few personal items behind, and the hotel arranged to have them shipped back to Canada without hesitation.
Overall, the service was outstanding and we had a fantastic stay. Highly recommend
Coffee and tea facilities, corkscrew, wine glasses...everything was at hand. Very good breakfast too. The discounted price of the parking was also appreciated and the ease of access. Highly recommend without hesitation.
We parked our rental car in the nearby resident lot for $15/day. We enjoyed the relative peace of the area and felt no need to venture to St. Tropez. The larger beach, a short walk from the hotel was well manicured and quiet. We do not recommend the smaller beach you can access via the water taxi as it is less manicured.
Le Suffren harkens back to the hotels of yore who provide you all the amenities including L' Occitane products that include shampoo/body wash, lotion, hand soap, pillow spray, and more. They even provide sewing kits, plug in bug deterrents, shower caps, robes, slippers, and other pleasantries that I thought went out of fashion as hotel chains attempt to achieve the most efficient bottom line.
As Americans traveling during an unprecedented record heatwave the actually functional AC and petite ice tray were the coup de grâce of our stay; putting a bow on what we now dubbed 'our favorite hotel in the world.' If you're looking for a relaxing vacation away from the pomp and circumstance of St. Tropez and needing to decompress after a stint in Paris look no further than Hôtel Le Suffren in Port Grimaud.
- Literie beaucoup trop dur
- Climatisation capricieuse
Edit: Celine is lying in her response gain. Another staff member (a male staff at reception) said that guests compete for hot water and its common that in the morning it might run out!
