The food itself was good rather than memorably great. We had steak tartare and clams in a kind of Asian broth to start, and veal sweetbreads with pomme puree and grilled octopus for mains.
Almost everything was well executed and tasty except that the mains were, even to our taste, over-salted (and we love salty food), the sauce for the sweetbreads was over-reduced, and the sweetbreads themselves were slightly overcooked - crispy is good, but these were so crispy that the balance between crispy outside and soft unctuous center was too heavily tilted to the former.
Honestly these are not major quibbles, we really enjoyed our dinner on the terrace.
Dinner for two with two large beers and a glass of wine came to 126 euros - so really not cheap, but we did order the most expensive dishes on the menu.
The food was sublime and the service flawless. We started with two beautiful entrées: a crispy polenta paired with seasonal local white asparagus on a velvety cacio e pepe sauce, and a phenomenal steak tartare served atop grilled bone marrow with salmon roe—both elegant and bursting with flavor. For mains, we had a perfectly seared filet d'espadon with fennel salad and green peas with chorizo, as well as a tender magret de canard served with chickpeas and chimichurri—honestly one of the best duck dishes we've had in Toulouse. We ended on a high note with an outstanding choux filled with hazelnut praliné (no photo, sorry—it disappeared too fast!), easily one of the best pâte à choux we've tasted in a long time.
A fantastic addition to the Toulouse dining scene—we had an absolute blast and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!
Grosse sélection de godet !
