Bref une expérience extrêmement mauvaise.

Review in English:

A Stay Beyond Expectations — Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace Versailles

After more than 20 years of traveling the world for both business and pleasure, I’ve been fortunate to stay at some of the most iconic hotels across the globe — from the modern precision of The Peninsula to the timeless elegance of The Ritz-Carlton, the personalized luxury of Four Seasons, and the refined hospitality of Mandarin Oriental, Shangri-La, and Fairmont.

But the Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace Versailles has surpassed them all.

From the moment we made our reservation — months before our actual travel — the experience has been nothing short of excellent. Every interaction, every detail, and every touchpoint reflected the kind of world-class hospitality that makes a lasting impression.

A special mention to Emilie Garcia from the Front Office team — who went above and beyond, helping us secure our booking well in advance and ensuring everything was in place. To Mary at the front desk, who welcomed us with warmth and professionalism, making our check-in smooth and stress-free. To Thomas on the night shift, whose thoughtful assistance with our early morning wake-up call ensured everything went exactly as planned. To Jean-Christophe, the Manager of In-Room Dining, who delivered outstanding service with grace and precision. To Lukas from room service, whose attention to detail and courteous demeanor elevated every interaction. To Julia from the cleaning staff, whose dedication and excellence ensured our stay felt pristine and truly cared for.

And sincere thanks to the exceptional team at La Véranda — Paolo, Ricardo, and Erik for their consistently warm and attentive breakfast and lunch service, and Etienne for his gracious hospitality during dinner. Each of you made every meal feel personal, elegant, and unforgettable.

Every detail — from the elegance of the rooms to the warmth of the staff — reflects a deep commitment to excellence. The breakfast overlooking the gardens? Unforgettable. And the calm, refined energy that surrounds you? That’s rare.

In an era where many luxury brands have become formulaic, Waldorf Astoria here stands apart — not just as a hotel, but as an experience you carry with you.

If you’re ever near Paris or seeking a destination worthy of your time, this is it.

We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Versailles from May 25th. While we were initially told the spa would reopen on May 27th, we received an email just one day before arrival stating it would now remain closed until June 4th. Reception showed little concern when we expressed disappointment, only offering an upgrade after persistent discussion. Unfortunately, the upgraded room had no immediate hot water—a major inconvenience with a 1-year-old.

Despite notifying the hotel about our baby’s first birthday in advance, there was no special welcome. Only Eric at breakfast kindly arranged a candle, which we appreciated. Reception's response was that we should have explicitly asked for it.

We’ve stayed at Waldorf properties globally, and this location falls short of brand standards. While the palace and location are stunning, reception service was poor, and management was unresponsive (we asked to speak to the manager on 4 occasions and were told they would call which never materialised). On the bright side, the concierge, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were excellent.

This is what a hotel was in the old days. Very elaborate, with an attentive staff. Restaurant was excellent. Hotel is a bit pricey, but we thought it was worth it; maybe we're spoiled though, lol. Close to the gardens of Versailles, but you need to drive to the palace. Very quiet.

Had a great time, and staff was very friendly.

The property is also very close to one of the back gardens of the Palace. It almost felt like having a private entrance.

This is what a hotel in the old days was like. Very elaborate. Staff were all very helpful. Food was excellent in the onsite restaurant. There is a Guy Fieri (sp?) restaurnt onsite as well, but it books up quickly. We liked the location because it was quiet; if you want to walk to the palace, not so much, but the drive there is short. Be advised it is a bit expensive, but we thought it was worth it.

Ooked fhis in December to visit in May for my wife’s big birthday. Three weeks before we arrived they informed us the sapa was going to be closed. After complaining they upgraded us to a suite which was amazing. Nicest room we have ever stayed in, fantastic service throughout our stay, great location to visit the Chateau and phenomenal dining experiences for breakfast and dinner. Overall the best stay we have ever had which made my wife’s birthday celebrations extra special. Thanks to all concerned.

I had dreamed about staying in this gorgeous hotel for a year since first seeing it. I came for my birthday weekend and was underwhelmed with the front desk service. The water was not working apparently and there was construction on the outside, as well as the spa--which was a big part of my stay. My friend had just landed from the States in Paris that morning and we needed to get into our room around 1:30 pm. The room was not ready BUT the front desk let us use a room to shower and get ready at the sister 4 star hotel next door. We had a tea at Airelles at 3:30 so needed to change and freshen up. When we ended up getting our room, we loved our view and the bed itself was extremely comfortable. We were a bit irritated that you need some external device to stream Netflix etc and when we asked for one, there were none left. ALL 5 star hotels have streaming on their TV's. Furthermore, room service was slow and the front desk took forever to answer when we would call. The housekeeping was FABULOUS. Overall this hotel has massive potential if the staff were trained in the Michelin ways and not acting like a low level 4 star Hilton. It is a gorgeous hotel and location is prime. Our bill was about half of the normal rate so I assume that was your way of comping guests for the construction and the lack of being able to use the spa. That definitely helped my review to a 4 star, or it would have been a 1 or 2.

It’s a really nice location but, unfortunately serviced by unprofessional people.
It was a very disappointing experience starting with the reception and ending with the dinner in Véranda.

My second stay at this lovely hotel and I highly recommend it if you want to stay in Versailles for an extended look at all the chateau has to offer AND to check out the town! The hotel staff, the restaurants and spa are all amazing!

We were really looking forward to our stay, especially after booking a room that was advertised as being in the main hotel building. However, on arrival, we were placed in a smaller, more basic room in a side building. This felt very misleading and disappointing.

We also noticed a random charge added to our bill. While the staff did remove it when we questioned it, there was no explanation or apology given.

One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was for the spa and pool facilities, but when we arrived, we were told the pool was closed for reservations—something we were not informed of in advance.

The building is beautiful and in a great location, the staff were kind but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to our expectations.

We had a wonderful stay at this grand chateau and are still thinking about the elegant and comfortable rooms and delicious breakfast! Rooms were beautifully decorated and quiet with beautiful views. The beds were most inviting after a day of walking and exploring. Best of all is that it's close to Versailles Palace. We could have stayed longer. There is so much to do, and the town of Versailles is equally worthwhile to explore with lovely shops, restaurants, and sights.

My sister and I stayed here to celebrate our birthday and dined at La Veranda several times—it was delightful. The only issue was that one staff member repeatedly spoke to us in Spanish, we’re asians despite us clearly speaking English. That said, the staff were very attentive during dinner, and the food was excellent.

A great location near the Neptune entrance to the palace gardens. Room was very nice and we'll kept for the age of the remodel ('90's or early 00's?). Dinner restaurant was not the best as the evening sun was hot at our table and a blinds couldn't be lowered, to make it worse the response to my request was a curt "No" without apology, explanation, or offering of another table. Being crass Americans we adjusted seating with assistance. 200 euros for dinner should be better than that. All other aspects of the hotel were very good.

The reception staff was friendly. However, the reception staff did not try their best to accomendate the costomer's request compares to other Hilton Hotels we stayed before. The location is exellent and the food at the restautrant was really nice. The staff at the restaurant were very proffesional and friendly.

Our room seemed a bit unkept. One of the legs to the vanity was completely broken sitting at about 60 degrees and the glass around the tub for the shower is jutting out causing a lot of standing water on the floor. The room was also quite warm, spent the time with the window open. Nothing offensively bad, but unexpected.
Very welcoming staff and members at reception and the hotel restaurant, excellent breakfast in the morning.
Very Close to Versailles, making the day easy and relaxing. Also close to a number of excellent restaurants.

We were excited to stay at this hotel due to its proximity to the Palace of Versailles and the reputation of the brand. However, the experience was disappointing on multiple levels and did not meet the standards of a 5-star hotel.||First, we were surprised to find out that the entire spa and swimming pool were closed during our stay — with no alternative offered. This was especially frustrating as there weren’t many other local activities in the area during that time. We were told an email had been sent in advance, but we never received anything.||We were also told we’d been upgraded, but the room we received felt more like a 3-4 star setup, very basic, with a view blocked by trees. Even worse, the bins were full when we entered, and it was clear the room hadn’t been properly cleaned. A staff member came to clean an hour later, which means the room had been handed over without preparation. Some basic items were also missing from the room, which we had to request separately from reception.||When we asked the concierge about visiting the Versailles Gardens around 8 p.m., he kindly gave us directions, but failed to mention the gardens close at 6 p.m. We made the trip only to be turned away. That lack of accurate information was disappointing.||The breakfast was extremely basic. And beyond the small lobby, the hotel had no atmosphere, lounge space, or anything to do, not ideal if you're staying in during the evening.||That said, there were some positives:||All staff members were polite and welcoming, from reception to cleaning staff.||The daily 10 a.m. fresh croosants were refreshing and enjoyable.||The concierge tip to buy Versailles Palace tickets through the hotel helped us skip the queues completely, that was genuinely helpful.||Despite those touches, overall this hotel did not deliver a 5-star experience, especially compared to other properties in the same chain. I would not recommend it unless the quality of service and facilities improves significantly.

En effet j ai malencontreusement oublié mon mobile qui était localisable jusqu’à ce que j arrive pour,le récupérer, à ce moment la,le concierge passe plus de vingt minutes à le chercher et me dit ne plus retrouver, il a la gentillesse de me laisser sa carte de visite et depuis silence radio même pas un geste commerciale ni un pardon.;;
