I mean, yes the hot chocolate tastes good, but 7 euros for a cola?

On y aller par bouche à oreille. La plus vieille brasserie de l'hôtel.

Très bel endroit, l'intérieur est à voir ! Les serveurs sont très courtois quand on est français ???? on a pu voir la différence avec des étrangers à côté de nous. ???? Leur chocolat est à tombé !

Carette, nestled in the heart of Paris, is a delightful destination for a typical French breakfast that captures the essence of French culinary charm. The moment I stepped inside, the enticing scent of freshly baked croissants and robust coffee enveloped me, promising a perfect morning. The menu showcases classic French breakfast staples: impeccably flaky croissants, crisp baguettes paired with velvety butter and house-made jam, and a heavenly pain au chocolat that practically dissolves on the tongue. I chose the “petit déjeuner complet,” featuring a silky café au lait, fresh orange juice, and a basket of pastries—each bite was pure indulgence. The yogurt with local honey and seasonal fruit added a refreshing balance to the richer offerings. The good service truly enhanced the experience. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, offering warm smiles and thoughtful recommendations with genuine passion. Our waiter even shared insights about their locally sourced ingredients, making the meal feel personal and authentic. The elegant ambiance, with its refined decor and soft French melodies, created an atmosphere straight out of a Parisian dream. Though the space is intimate, it feels cozy rather than confined, ideal for savoring a relaxed breakfast.Overall, Carette delivers a quintessentially French experience with excellent service and authentic flavors. It’s a must-visit for anyone seeking a true taste of France to kickstart their day. Highly recommend!

Waiters touched my glas on the top. Same for the cutlery. This is for me on such a place not acceptable. Lunch is overall 3 of 5 stars. Hot chocolate and pastries are very good!

The experience was aesthetic, but the food was absolutely nasty. The eggs were mushy and had chunks in it. I took one bite and asked for a refund and they REFUSED to give it to me. I ordered toast to eat with my eggs but since the eggs were disgusting, I didn’t eat my toast. They refunded my toast but claimed the eggs were very fresh and said they couldn’t refund my eggs even though I DIDNT EAT but one bite. We sat down for 10-15 minutes before anyone took our order. It was €19 for a few strawberries and I wish I got my money back for the eggs. Not worth the money for how bad it was. You’re paying for the experience.

The desserts are great, but be prepared to be forced (!) to stand in line. Apparently this is a special ritual of humiliation. There are many free tables, but people are deliberately kept in line. Perhaps to create excitement or make you suffer while waiting for dessert

The hot chocolate was absolutely amazing! So was the fruit crepe! The place was extremely busy so service was spotty. Prices are high also.

Magical street next to Place Dos Voges park. Full of locals who stared at us, which is want to want for a legit Paris experience.

Effortlessly welcoming, with great food and a view

If there’s one place in Paris where you won’t feel awkward being a tourist, it’s Carette. The staff are friendly, happy to help with your French (or switch to English), and service is quick and attentive. The location is beautiful with plenty of outdoor seating, perfect for people-watching or a relaxed breakfast.

While we didn’t try the pastries they’re famous for, the food we did have was excellent—the scrambled eggs were creamy, the chicken salad club sandwich was satisfying, and the salmon tartare was fresh and flavorful. Both the cappuccino and espresso were smooth, not overly bitter, and delicious. One morning we simply ordered coffee and sat outside without any pressure to order a full meal, which made the experience even more enjoyable. A lovely, unfussy stop we’d gladly return to.

During a recent family trip to Paris, we decided to visit Carette after a friend recommended it. We arrived around 10am and, unsurprisingly, found a long line of people waiting to get in. After about 20 minutes, we made it to the front and were asked about our seating preference. Though we would have loved to sit on the picturesque terrace, we opted for indoor seating to avoid a longer wait.

Unfortunately, things started going downhill from the moment we were introduced to our waiter. While I understand that working in the service industry isn’t always easy—having worked in it myself—there’s a basic standard of professionalism that was sorely lacking. Our server, along with several other staff members, was noticeably rude and dismissive. It felt like our presence was more of an inconvenience than anything else.

We ordered the Petit Déjeuner Carette, which included a café au lait, orange juice, a croissant, and a slice of bread with jam. We also shared a toast Carette with ham, scrambled eggs with herbs, and a quiche Lorraine. To drink, we had a regular hot chocolate and a Carette hot chocolate with whipped cream. When our server asked if we’d like fresh berries with the latter, I said yes.

The food itself was quite good—the pastries were flaky, the eggs were well-seasoned, and the hot chocolate was delightfully rich. But no quality of food can compensate for the poor service. At one point, our server literally walked away mid-order without a word, then returned and continued taking it as if nothing had happened. No apology, no acknowledgment—just blatant disrespect. On top of that, the fresh berries we ordered were never brought out. We only noticed the charge on our receipt at the end and had to request a correction.

Final verdict: Carette has the look and feel of a classic Parisian café, and the food is certainly decent. But for the price and the frustrating service, it simply wasn’t worth it. If you’re looking for a cute photo-op or checking off tourist spots, it might be worth a quick visit—but if you value warm, respectful service, my family and I would recommend going elsewhere.

You can spot the tourists by who goes to that café ????no local would set foot in it. With all the extra fees, it actually cost more than ordering breakfast at a five star hotel

It’s going viral for a good reason! The Carette Hot Chocolate is out of this world. Pure chocolate and whipped cream. It’s like drinking heaven.
