This time, my partner opted for the tea pairing, a refreshing departure from our usual wine pairings, and it proved to be an absolute revelation. The carefully selected teas complemented each dish beautifully, elevating the flavors in ways we hadn't anticipated.
As for the food, there was no shortage of culinary delights, but two dishes in particular left an indelible mark on my taste buds. The sweet and sour octopus was an absolute standout—perfectly balanced with just the right amount of tang and tenderness. But the real surprise of the evening was the stilton bao. Now, I’m typically not a fan of blue cheese, but this bao was so harmonious in its bold flavors that I found myself looking forward to the next one.
Yamtcha, with its stunning atmosphere, exceptional service, and innovative pairing, truly delivered a dining experience worthy of celebration. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience that I’m already eager to repeat.

+ Tea pairing
+/- Chef was going ballistic on her team during the service, entire restaurant could hear
We had a wonderful meal with the wine pairing. Each bite was impeccably designed and the wine pairings were diverse, global and original. Favorite plates included beef cheek (the broth was made in heaven I think), octopus sticky rice, and on top of all the others was the blue cheese cherry bao! The venn diagram of Asian and French food made for a fun provocative overlap. The chef and wait staff were at our table regularly explaining what we were experiencing making for a high touch wonderful experience.
Highly recommend. Likely one of my favorite meals of all time. Will return!
The restaurant is beautiful. The decor is understated and everything looks tidy and fresh. We had something akin to a chef s table right next to the kitchen. Great if you want to see the action in the kitchen. If you want something a bit more private some of the other tables might be a better fit.
We went for the tea pairing (50 per person) to accompany the menu (190). The tea pairing is such an interesting idea and we both thought it worked really well. The tea s had unique characteristics and worked really well with the dishes.
The star was of course the food which was all amazing. The tuna dish in particular was amazing. Beautifully and interestingly paired with figs, green beans and an interesting slightly spicy marinade/sauce. The bouillabaisse and octopus were other highlights.
Service was always attentive without being intrusive. The chef was at the table herself to explain a few of the dishes patiently and always with a friendly smile.
Would warmly recommend this place for a special occasion. We will certainly be back!
Merci beaucoup !
Where do I even start? Our evening began with the offering of stale wine, which should have been our first clue. After requesting a different bottle, we were promptly forgotten, and our wine never arrived. This set the tone for the rest of the night, a horrific descent into unimaginative cuisine.
Each course that followed was more appalling than the last. The flavors were either non-existent or overwhelmingly salty. The creativity that one would expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant was completely absent. By the time we reached the main course, a disastrously over-salted chicken and beef combo, I was nearly sick. We couldn’t bring ourselves to take more than a bite before asking to leave.
To add insult to injury, the chef insisted on charging us for the full menu despite our complaints. When we pointed out that we got sick from the food and requested a partial refund, the chef angrily compared it to not getting a refund for a bad movie at the cinema. This place is more like a bad fast-food joint that somehow fooled Michelin into giving it a star.
Save your money and your stomach—you're better off at a fast-food restaurant than wasting your time and money here. Michelin seriously needs to reconsider this establishment’s rating.
Some highlights were the rice stuffed squid with lemongrass and the lychee soursop dessert. The service for the tea pairing was very warm and welcoming! Otherwise, service was very cold. I am all for coping with mediocre service if the food is good. However - The menu felt like something Chat-GPT had spewed for a fusion Chinese and French restaurant. The combination of cheese and bao, and fuyu truffles Parma ham and chilli oil in the vegetable dumpling simply didn't work for me. Suggest to spend your money elsewhere.
