La terrasse est un vrai plus ????
Our experience at Appart’City Bibliothèque started off on the wrong foot and only worsened. The hotel's location is misleading—despite its name, it's far from the city center and only accessible via metro. There’s virtually nothing nearby besides a McDonald’s.
The breakfast was overpriced and underwhelming—better and cheaper options are easily found in Rivoli or other central areas. Customer service was consistently poor; staff were rude and dismissive, not only to us but to other guests as well.
The worst part of our stay was a leaking air-conditioning unit that soaked our clothes. Despite the cleaner entering the room, the damage wasn't reported. We only discovered it after returning late, and the response from the front desk was shockingly unhelpful and accusatory. Only after escalating to the manager were we offered basic help—our clothes were finally dried by 10 PM, after ruining our plans for the day.
To make matters worse, the room was still wet the following day. Again, nothing was reported or resolved by housekeeping, and we had to demand a room change. While we were promised complimentary breakfast as compensation, staff failed to communicate tthis internally and tried to charge us again.
Overall, the service was unprofessional, uncoordinated, and at times disrespectful. Staff made us feel like we were a burden, speaking in French about us when they thought we wouldn’t understand. This stay was far below expectations for the price paid. I would not return and strongly advise other travelers to book elsewhere. All answers in here made by the hotel were made by chat gpt.
We moved to Appart’City Collection Paris Grande Bibliothèque from another hotel in Paris, hoping to be closer to the so-called “vibrant and convenient” 13th arrondissement, especially for its food options. We had lots of luggage and spent a long time in a taxi, only to find out the hotel is nowhere near the actual center of the 13th district. The website’s claim of being in a “bustling, central location” is a complete exaggeration. Unless they mean the McDonald’s down the street, there’s nothing nearby except construction sites and broken sidewalks.
Once we checked in, the disappointment turned into frustration. The room was in horrible condition, nothing like the photos or the hotel’s self-proclaimed “4-star luxury serviced residence” title. Here are the facts:
• The floor was filthy, with visible shoe marks and mildew stains.
• Tiles were cracked, wooden floorboards were chipped or peeling.
• The wall had a dent and dirty handprints, poorly patched up with what looked like cheap filler.
• The closet was broken and crooked, with the doors barely sliding.
• The cabinet handles were rusted and peeling, feeling grimy to the touch.
• The sink plumbing was taped up with black duct tape.
• The kitchen equipment was dusty and shoved carelessly under the sink, with exposed wires and no sense of hygiene or safety.
We wanted to leave right away and contacted Booking.com to request a change or cancellation. But the hotel completely ignored the request until the very last moment before checkout time the next day. During that time, someone violently banged on our door, startling us to the point of panic—it felt like someone was trying to break in. It turned out to be housekeeping offering towels. Seriously? Is that how you knock on a guest’s door?
There was no phone in the room to contact the front desk, and every interaction we had with hotel staff was unpleasant—they were cold, impatient, and dismissive.
To make things worse, we discovered our room was connected to the neighboring room by a locked internal door, and we could hear strange whispering and soft noises at night, which was creepy and disturbing. We felt neither safe nor respected.
This place is a scam dressed in fake stars. It’s not clean, it’s not professional, and it’s definitely not luxury. Do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else. For the price they charge, the level of discomfort and disrespect is absolutely unacceptable.
