We went to the Farmhouse to take a few cooking lessons from David and explore the Normandie area and learn about the D-day invasion. The farmhouse was very quaint and a nice piece of history. David and Alyson were great hosts. Our room was comfortable, very clean and well decorated in a French country motif. The breakfasts were wonderful with a wide assortment of items including some to order items like eggs or waffles. ||We did the two days of cooking with David and it was really fun. He is an excellent chef and a great teacher. The kitchen is well equipped and full of fun decorations and tools as well. The “Everhot” stove is quite impressive and produces a very high heat. The meal selection was really nice with a wide range of items and recipes that we can easily reproduce. One fun thing there was another couple staying that elected to have dinner at the Farmhouse and as it turns out we were cooking their (and our) dinner. They really enjoyed the meals and the great presentations. We even may have created a new oyster lover.||David also took us on a trip to a local Cidery and we had a private tour and tasting. David also showed us around a few of the areas key sites including the American Cemetery and a few other lesser known spots. It was a very fun trip. The next day we went to a local market to pick up items for our menu later that day. The market was amazing and had a wide range of things for sale. We enjoyed a lunch with David and Alyson at a local brewery that featured a charcuterie tray with local cheeses and meats.||The location is very central for exploring the Normandie beaches and battle fields. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer. We will plan another trip back to continue our exploration of Normandie and the surrounding area.

My wife and I just returned home after spending two weeks in France. Our stay with Dave and Alyson at The Old Farm was a highlight of our entire holiday.||Their location is absolutely perfect for your Normandie adventures. Minutes from Sainte-Mere-Eglise springboards you to Utah, Omaha and all points WWII.||It’s also an easy 90 minute front to Mont Saint Michel, allowing you to break up your D-Day sites with something else.||They have a wonderful courtyard to relax in before and after your sightseeing, and then there is Dave’s talent in the kitchen.||After two full weeks in France, the single best thing we ate during our entire holiday was the dinner Dave prepared for us. It was incredible.||If you are visiting Normandie and do not stay at the Old Farm, you’re simply doing it wrong.

15/10, absolutely amazing. Dave ( ex Army Chef) and Alison have dedicated the last 12+ years in renovating this beautiful farmhouse into an exception B&B, 2 x Doubles , 1 x twin beautifully designed/ decorated, with large modern en-suite’s. There is also a 3 double bed with own en-suite totally self contained Gite with a private patio and coming soon a wood fired Hottub. A reasonable sized supermarket is in the local village. Market day is on a Thursday.|This is approximately a 10 minute drive from Sainte-Met-Eglise a typical rural village but with incredible history as was 1 of the villages that were “part” of the airborne invasion in WW2, to set up the forward positions before the D-day landings. Many memorials and museums within 30/40 drive.|I initially booked for a 3 day cookery course, but added a couple of extra days for tourism. I was lucky as I was the only participant and received a truly unforgettable experience, a 1-on-1 training in classic French cuisine. You think that you are a reasonable home cook until Dave invests his time and experience to show and inspire you to return full of ideas. Daily visits to local producers are included.|I can’t thank both Dave and Alison for their hospitality and assistance, truly outstanding hospitality, well worth booking a course for yourself and friends.

This is the second time I've taken friends to Normandy and we've stayed at the Old Farm. The place is a wonderful step-back-in-time, and the owners Dave and Allison are gracious, friendly, and very knowledgeable of the local area. The next time I'm in Normandy I will definitely stay with them. The only cautionary note is that the narrow, twisting stairs to the upstairs bedrooms can be a bit tricky if you have very large luggage.

My husband and I did a tour of Normandy and wanted a unique experience while there. We reserved the charming “Red Room” and the cooking school. I cannot rave enough about this experience. We had tours from David that went far beyond expectations and his culinary skills are exceptional. Alyson was so friendly and accommodating. Definitely will go back.

Alyson and David, are the most welcoming hosts. On arrival we immediately felt comfortable and settled, nothing was too much trouble.|The rooms are impeccably decorated, with a luxurious feel. The Gitte was very well equipped and comfortably warm.|We travelled as a group for a crafting retreat, hosted by Alyson, the communal sitting room, with a log burning fire was the ideal space to be together learning a new craft.|Breakfast and evening meals were taken in the farmhouse, wonderful food was made by David who is a professional chef, and hosted in a warm and friendly atmosphere.||I would love to return again, perhaps for cooking lessons, or just to enjoy the area of which Alyson and David are very knowledgeable.||I thoroughly recommend this well placed B&B to anyone wanting to travel the Normandy area or book into one of the courses they run.

Words cannot express how wonderful the Old Farm of Amfreville is! David and Allison have created an elegant yet warm space that embraces the location and history. Away from any city lights and noise (only a little traffic on the main road during the day), you will sleep so soundly in the very comfortable beds. And the food! David is an excellent chef with eclectic palate that makes the most of the local produce and meats. Definitely recommend taking one of his cooking classes! David and Allison made me feel like family. Every day was a new adventure based on food, history, and lively conversation!

The Farm at Amfreville is a wonderful place to stay. We did the cooking program and really enjoyed learning some decadent French dishes, then eating them of course! The portions are huge, so you will not go hungry! We visited a local cidery and farm, a farmer’s market, café, caramel factory and D-day sites throughout the week. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious every day – fresh pastries, yogurt and cheese from the farm down the way, eggs and waffles if you please.|David is such a hard worker, he knows a ton about cooking and the history of the area. He’s fun to hang out with, to learn from and is just such a great host along with wife Alyson. They sent us off to Mt Saint Michel with an epic picnic that we were literally eating for the next two days. |The buildings on the property are historic, even with bullet holes from American liberators still on the wall! They do a lovely job of blending the old building with modern amenities. You can watch a line of cows go in and out of pasture every day; the setting is very idyllic. Our room was very spacious and comfortable – got great sleep in the comfy bed. We felt right at home and will be back when we can!

This was a delightful end for our trip to France and, specifically, Normandy. The rooms were spacious and clean, the hosts friendly and helpful, the food delicious, the tours informative (even after 8 previous days in the area), and finally, the cooking lessons were informative, stimulating and delicious. Dave did a great job bringing us into the taste of Normandy. We would highly recommend this visit.

This old farmhouse is full of charm. Upon arrival, we had no idea where to report to. Please get a sign pointing to your entrance. Our Garden Room was spacious and well appointed. Allyson and David are friendly and approachable. |The first night there we had one of David’s splendid meals, that are excellent value. Breakfasts have an excellent array of Continental meats, cheeses, baked goods etcetera. If that is not your thing eggs or waffles are available, cooked to order. We can recommend the scrambled eggs.|The visitors who attended David’s cookery courses seemed to have a great time.

We visited the farm for 3 nights for a cookery class.
The place is really charming, you can feel all the effort the owners put into there.
David and Alison gave us a very warm welcome and were always happy to help.
The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable with a spacious bathroom.
The food David cooked was wonderful and plenty.
Really enjoyed the cooking class, learned quiet a few new things, David’s instructions were clear and helpful. He was also very patient :)
He has a vast knowledge about the culinary world and the WWII, and told us lots of fascinating stuff.
All in all we had a great experience, strongly recommend the place both for the cooking course and just to stay.

Cannot say enough great things about this place! Shabby chic decor and beautiful attention to detail. The beds are comfy, the bathroom is spacious with bathrobes provided. They provide lovely touches like a bottle of wine and Aly's handmade soap. David's cooking is divine - absolutely superb and lovely presentation. It is conveniently located to all the historic sites. Highly recommend!
