We went to the Farmhouse to take a few cooking lessons from David and explore the Normandie area and learn about the D-day invasion. The farmhouse was very quaint and a nice piece of history. David and Alyson were great hosts. Our room was comfortable, very clean and well decorated in a French country motif. The breakfasts were wonderful with a wide assortment of items including some to order items like eggs or waffles. ||We did the two days of cooking with David and it was really fun. He is an excellent chef and a great teacher. The kitchen is well equipped and full of fun decorations and tools as well. The “Everhot” stove is quite impressive and produces a very high heat. The meal selection was really nice with a wide range of items and recipes that we can easily reproduce. One fun thing there was another couple staying that elected to have dinner at the Farmhouse and as it turns out we were cooking their (and our) dinner. They really enjoyed the meals and the great presentations. We even may have created a new oyster lover.||David also took us on a trip to a local Cidery and we had a private tour and tasting. David also showed us around a few of the areas key sites including the American Cemetery and a few other lesser known spots. It was a very fun trip. The next day we went to a local market to pick up items for our menu later that day. The market was amazing and had a wide range of things for sale. We enjoyed a lunch with David and Alyson at a local brewery that featured a charcuterie tray with local cheeses and meats.||The location is very central for exploring the Normandie beaches and battle fields. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer. We will plan another trip back to continue our exploration of Normandie and the surrounding area.

My wife and I just returned home after spending two weeks in France. Our stay with Dave and Alyson at The Old Farm was a highlight of our entire holiday.||Their location is absolutely perfect for your Normandie adventures. Minutes from Sainte-Mere-Eglise springboards you to Utah, Omaha and all points WWII.||It’s also an easy 90 minute front to Mont Saint Michel, allowing you to break up your D-Day sites with something else.||They have a wonderful courtyard to relax in before and after your sightseeing, and then there is Dave’s talent in the kitchen.||After two full weeks in France, the single best thing we ate during our entire holiday was the dinner Dave prepared for us. It was incredible.||If you are visiting Normandie and do not stay at the Old Farm, you’re simply doing it wrong.

15/10, absolutely amazing. Dave ( ex Army Chef) and Alison have dedicated the last 12+ years in renovating this beautiful farmhouse into an exception B&B, 2 x Doubles , 1 x twin beautifully designed/ decorated, with large modern en-suite’s. There is also a 3 double bed with own en-suite totally self contained Gite with a private patio and coming soon a wood fired Hottub. A reasonable sized supermarket is in the local village. Market day is on a Thursday.|This is approximately a 10 minute drive from Sainte-Met-Eglise a typical rural village but with incredible history as was 1 of the villages that were “part” of the airborne invasion in WW2, to set up the forward positions before the D-day landings. Many memorials and museums within 30/40 drive.|I initially booked for a 3 day cookery course, but added a couple of extra days for tourism. I was lucky as I was the only participant and received a truly unforgettable experience, a 1-on-1 training in classic French cuisine. You think that you are a reasonable home cook until Dave invests his time and experience to show and inspire you to return full of ideas. Daily visits to local producers are included.|I can’t thank both Dave and Alison for their hospitality and assistance, truly outstanding hospitality, well worth booking a course for yourself and friends.
