La visite de la maison est décevante, la guide débite son texte à toute vitesse (difficile de tout comprendre), elle regarde sa montre et le tour est expédié en 30 minutes. Rien à voir avec Laura plantation. Interdit de prendre des photos.
Le parc et l'allée des chênes sont très beaux

Very disappointing tour. The plantation itself seemed more focused on the opulence of "big house" & French slave owners than how slavery and its abolition changed the course of America. Slavery was presented more as an afterthought. They didn’t even call the slave owners what they were… they instead repeatedly named them “Planters.” Well, I’m pretty sure those slave owners never “planted” a day in their entitled lives. Frankly, it’s modern-day “white-washing” of what this plantation really was. Sad that in 2024, many in the south & the world still deny the atrocities of slavery everywhere it existed & still exists on the planet. We did appreciate the tour guides. The atmosphere around us was full of selfies & jokes, not on the solemnity of the atrocities which occurred there. The slave quarters' remains were not preserved. These are replicas, as they are stated as such in the placards outside.

Pas de visite de cette plantation mais juste la vue sur le bâtiment qui est joli et offre une belle vue sur les berges du Mississippi juste de l'autre côté de la butte

If you have a car, I would drive there instead of going on a tour bus as that's more expensive, plus it takes a lot longer. I don't recall what I paid exactly, but I saved more than half by driving myself there. Great tour and very informative.

Interesting tour through the Old House with an excellent tour guide. Since we were a little too late for the originally scheduled tour they simply rebooked us on another one without any charge.

This brings me back to 1899 where my grandfather told me that his dad which is my grand grandfather and his friends walked down this place and had to find the person who rules the house in order to find him. They burned it down after it. Such a silly story, isn't it?

Would we recommend? Absolutely!

A historic, large, & luxurious plantation full of dark history - history nonetheless.

The lives impacted by this operation is truly saddening to contemplate! Eerily, as we walked onto the property, we felt a profound awareness of what tragedy transpired on the grounds! We toured the mansion/house, and as we walked among the homes of the slaves and the mighty oak trees on the ally, we pondered, "If these trees or walls could talk"!

The best plantation to visit in Louisiana. The staff was extremely nice (except for the girl making the pralines), the food was great at the restaurant, and the grounds were beautiful.

C'était l'usine... étant arrivé avec 29 minutes d'avance au lieu des 30 minutes demandées, on a été recalés sur la visite de 30min après...

We really enjoyed our visit to Oak Alley Plantation. The history is remarkable. The Big House is amazing. The giant oaks are incredible. It is definitely worth the drive if you're visiting the New Orleans region!

My wife and I enjoyed this beautiful setting. The reconstruction of the slave house was well done. The focus is more on the slave owners than slavery.

The oak alley plantation may be the best plantation I’ve ever been too I’ve seen many don’t take this as racism please but because I’m a historian I met a young fellow reenactment of Romeo and Juliet with their cousins I fell in love with the place but the staff didn’t a few rude people but comes with the house as many acted like they were living in 1899 the house we went at night from the French American city nearby Denis or something my friend lenny was hurled insults by locals unfortunately we came to find the house burning but when we came back 3months later the house was rebuilt hurray the local law enforcement blockaded our entry and forced us out stupid gray haired people but the games of cribbage and moonshine handed around that I stole a bit much for the tickets were quiet expensive authentic moonshine and chicken steaks given out although I fear flies had tainted my meat ???? I love the place and would come back but the staff need to be kinder to fellows from the north as they called me a Yankee next time I won’t bring my son though as some old white trash hag attempted to take him and give him to her Italian cousins will dodge Italians in future thank you

Très déçue . Une usine : 30 min de visite guidée dans la maison sans le droit de prendre de photos pour le prix du billet c’est inadmissible. La guide parle super vite donc nous qui sommes français incompréhensible tellement ses explications doivent rentrer dans le temps de la visite . On m’avait dit que c’était la number 1 des plantations j’ai préféré de loin Whitney et Laura plantation . Énormément déçue . Je ne conseille pas de la faire . Ah oui dernière chose il faut bien être 30min avant l’heure de la visite sinon on passe 30min à attendre la prochaine visite et si pas de place vos places achetées par internet poubelle : l’usine à touristes !!

Une visite incontournable depuis New Orleans

Le site de la plantation est incontournable pour son allée de chênes qui mène à la Maison et qui est très photogénique. La visite de la Maison elle-même n'est pas indispensable (mais incluse dans le (cher) billet d'entrée de 25$. L'exposition dans les cases des esclaves est plus intéressante.

magnifique

la visite de cette grande propriété (1/2 h pour la visite intérieure) est très intéressante et on voudrait rester des heures à admirer la splendide allée de chênes (28 au total) qui forme une magnifique voûte. Beaux jardins également et exposition sur l’esclavage à ne pas rater.

L'allée de chêne est magnifique, un vrai coup de coeur! A découvrir tot le matin avant l'arrivée des hordes de touristes! La visite de la maison et l'espace dédié à l'esclavages sont très intéressants.

Cette visite est un autre incontournable, au même titre que Laura Plantation.
Bien sur, le clou du spectacle et la vue de la Oak Alley, majestueuse et qui nous fait d'un coup nous projeter dans les siècles passés, mais la visite guidée est également intéressante avec des anecdotes et un ancrage historique.

Un plantation magnifique !
Un vrai paradis.
Les jardins sont très beaux, et la maison splendide.
Notre guide parlait anglais mais nous avons reçu une traduction en français.
Surtout n'oubliez pas de goûter leur citronnade.
