Stayed here on a recommendation from a coworker (in the area for work). Arrived late due to weather and even though I was on the cusp of the food service time, they graciously accommodated me with a very good, hot meal (the reddish, quite good) at the bar. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I love classic hotels with porcelain bathrooms, real carpentry, and sophistication. They seem to have a charm and history to them and it makes for a nicer stay, overall. Hotels that feel as though they've been around for a while are always a welcome change from the sterile, cool character of a modern property. Was only there for a short time, but long enough to wholeheaetedly recommend.

My review for the bar only...

Great rum selection and good rum drinks. We enjoyed talked Star Wars with on of the bartenders. The bar is beautiful.

We are locals, and chose to stay at the Southern Hotel because of the attention to detail that they provide. We stayed in the Thomas Sully Suite which is absolutely beautiful. We were surprised that when we ordered coffee from room service that they delivered it in a paper cup. Other then that little issue which I know they will rectify I highly recommend staying there.

The Southern Hotel is a fantastic boutique hotel in a great location. Tara greeted us upon arrival, and was so gracious and informative. Zack was so personable and mixes the best old fashions in the area! My husband and I knew right away we had made the right choice to stay at the Southern Hotel to enjoy our weekend!

Elegant hotel with an ideal location for easy to walk to restaurants and entertainment. The kindest staff and a well stocked bar with outdoor seating.

This is a wonderful hotel that is perfect for a staycation or for anyone out of town to stay. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The Cypress Bar is such an enjoyable place to just grab a drink and enjoy the piano and other patrons. The Southern Hotel should be a destination that everyone stays at least once. Then they will be hooked on its charm.

Lot of broken features in the room (thermostat, TV, and sink). Had to move from the first one because it smelled so bad.

Everything looks clean and pristine and nicely decorated, but at the same time the place is average to below average for sure.

Covington is the cutest little town. The Southern Hotel is a perfect location for walking to enjoy restaurants and bars. Service was great. The rooms were clean. I have 2 young boys and the hotel was very family friendly, I didn't feel bad letting them run around. Highly recommend!

Booked this hotel for a recent work trip. This place is dripping with southern charm! Beautiful property that is well kept. The staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The room was spotless and comfortable. Looking forward to coming back!

Love the bar. Seating area in the lobby and outside are fantastic. Great spot for a romantic drink or for a group. Hotel itself is fantastic as well. Staff is attentive, professional and bright. Rooms are quirky, but comfortable and updated.

Bottom line.... if you have a 2 or 3 star experience at this hotel, it's likely because you're a miserable person with outlandish expectations and you're probably going to have a 2 star time no matter where you stay. Enjoy life more!!

The history of this place is great. Located amongst an assortment of restaurants, shops, and galleries all walkable, it makes the Southern Hotel a great weekend getaway. Park your vehicle and walk around Covington.
Gloriette was excellent for breakfast, Rocky makes a great all butter biscuit, don't miss out. Chef Alex and his staff are kind, courteous, and generous. I really enjoyed meeting and working in his kitchen for our event.
This is definitely a place that I'll be visiting again.

At booking, we asked for a quiet room away from elevator traffic. Arrived on Saturday for a short staycation to relax (spouse's birthday). We had a difficult time finding parking, as the lot (reserved for hotel guests) was full. At check-in, the front desk clerk was very matter of fact and did not acknowledge we booked for a special occasion. The Traditional King Room was clean (but did not contain a king bed) and faced the courtyard (where a wedding was being held with loud music - literally outside the windows). When we inquired about the noise, we were told it would be over by 5:30.
Nothing special about the stay... overall, a little disappointed by the lack of hospitality for the cost of the room!

Quaint place with very nice amenities. We checked in with a specific request for quiet, away from any elevators, etc. Our room, 112 happens to be immediately adjacent to their reception area, where a wedding and extremely loud live band were....
