Thought this Chateau would be an excellent choice for our family stay in Normandy. Unfortunately it was not. Other than the service and food at La Botineste it was not good. Breakfast service, Jardin food and service, housekeeping and not assisting us with the need for tickets for Giverney was below the standard of care for what you are going to spend here. | The guide and driver Julie for St Michel and Normandy tour that was excellent. | Will not be returning here on our next visit. | Laundry service was also done poorly. No enthusiasm with greeting or assistance at Front Desk other than Justine. | We should have listened to our cousins who loved The Lara in town

My Wife & I were on a whirlwind tour of Mont-Saint-Michel & Normandy in 2 days, so we decided to leave our Paris hotel room for a night and stay in Normandy. WOW...what a wonderful yet accidental decision. La Chenevière is a restored mansion, immaculately re-done and maintained, and attended by the most astute, attentive, and amazing staff you will meet anywhere. We eat light at nights, so missed the 5-Star restaurant for the comfort of the bar, attended dutifully by Timothy. Tuna salad & chicken salad, both light and meticulously prepared. The room was wonderful, comfy, and thoughtful. Omaha Beach 10-minutes away. We even had our Guide drop his car off so we could come back for a beverage & potty break after check-out, which was welcomed by the wonderful staff. If you are going to the Beaches of Normandy...come here. Period.

Read all the fine print, and do not expect them to honor anything else, no matter how obvious, not even to respond constructively. If they respond to this note it will be to claim that our purchase was non-refundable, but they will know that they are not telling anything close to the whole truth. There are many other fine places to stay in the area.

A 3-star hotel in a 4-star location. If you've stayed at a Four Seasons, Peninsula or Rosewood, buckle up for a bumpy disappointment.
We booked a junior suite. Didn't realize the suite would be under the stairs. It's an old building so all we heard at night was foot traffic, going up and down. Beds were mediocre. Bathroom shower was laughable because even the staff member sent over to help us turn it off couldn't figure it out without multiple attempts at turning knobs. Service was inconsistent and unnecessarily snooty at times -- particularly the bartender or gentleman working the "snack bar," which is what the hotel calls it. He can afford to take down his snoot level a few notches. Pool area was closed the 3 days we were there. Breakfast was boring so we went into Bayeaux and found delightful cafes there instead.
Given the ratings, we can only imagine what the alternatives were like. Regardless, we'd recommend another scan before booking here. Or plan to drive to Deauville or Hornfleur.

My wife and I just enjoyed our 10th stay at the Chateau La Cheneviere. Our first stay was back in 2015 and we immediately fell in love with the Chateau, its amazing grounds, and incredible staff. We have now made it a yearly springtime stay. ||The Chateau itself sits near the D’Day beaches and a 10 minute walk from the beautiful fishing village of Port en Bessin. It’s also a 10 minute drive from the historical town of Bayeau. ||As to the Chateau, it has a main house with adjacent building all with beautifully decorated rooms, each uniquely and stylishly decorated. |The grounds are quite spectacular and manicured. The sitting areas are inviting and quite cozy. ||They have 2 restaurants that are absolutely a must if staying at the resort. ||Finally, a special thanks to Aurelie, Justin and Beatriz for always making our stay’s so memorable.

Very nice rooms, beautiful surroundings and grounds.
We would have loved to stay longer but only spent one night.

Lovely property with attentive staff. Lot's of sitting areas inside and outside to read a book or have a cocktail. Our room was large (junior suite) and was very comfortable. The food in both restaurants was great, although we preferred the garden dinner over the Chateau main restaurant. Easy walk to Port-en-Bessin that should not be missed when staying at this property.

This place is amazing and rich with history. We had top notch service from bookings til we left the property. They helped us with our tours and the tour company they work with is outstanding.|The grounds are unbeilevable with the trees and lush gardens.|The rooms are a very nice size with updated bathrooms.||The staff is very lovely and very helpful and welcoming.|You will not regret this warm place tucked away from the world!!!

Room (not in main house) was dark, staff generally not friendly and garden restaurant food was marginal. Location was close (by car) to D-Day memorial sites. Would rather have stayed in Bayeux where we could walk to other restaurants, shops, etc. |The Chateau was not up to 5-star standards per our experience.

a beautiful property with a very warm and welcoming staff. Beatrice was our host for breakfast. She started our days with a smile and delicious foods making us feel right at home. Tebow was our bartender in the evening feeling like an old friend. the room was very clean, very comfortable. Desk staff were great and patient with me as i tired my best at using my newly acquired French words and phrases.

Such a beautiful property tucked away but close to all you want to experience in Normandy. Truly exceptional service from every member of the staff. Lovely room that was also incredibly comfortable. Luxury touches enhanced our stay- fresh-baked treats, luxury bed linens and towels, heated bathroom floors. Dining options were outstanding! Gorgeous gardens and well-tended outdoor spaces including a pool. Loved our time at Chateau La Cheneviere.

Such an amazing experience. A beautifully cared for chateau with pool, tennis courts, bikes and two restaurants. The rooms are amazingly appointed and so comfortable! Staff were very helpful and kind. Elevator and air conditioning were an added plus. We can’t say enough good things about this hotel.
