I am glad we decided to do this tour at the last minute; I learned so much about the precious ecosystem of the Ria Formosa which I encourage everyone who visits the area to do.
Alhough faced with harsh conditions, our skipper Miguel was highly skilled in navigating them. I would like to thank him for his professionalism, as well as his endearing sense of humour and passion for the area, all of which elevated the experience.

Our guide Miguel was very gracious and hospitable. His knowledge was expansive. Not just nature but Portuguese culture and history. He made sure we visited several birding sites. It was a pleasant journey.

We had a fantastic 1 hour boat tour around the harbour with Ernesto who was an excellent guide and followed it a couple of days later with 2 hours of kayaking through the nature park with Luis. Both guides were very welcoming and knowledgeable and made us feel totally safe on the water. The experience was really special for us and should be an unmissable one for anyone visiting Faro.

We made a last-minute decision to book this tour and were glad we did. From the very friendly and informative staff in the shop to Miguel, our captain for the trip, it was a very pleasant experience. The 3+ hours we were out were very informative as Miguel was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the wildlife that lived there.
Would definitely recommend it to anyone who has a vague interest in local history, the landscape, and its inhabitants. Thank you.

Hicimos el tour de 3h con paradas en Ilha Deserta e Ilha Farol. Fue todo un gusto hacerlo con el capitán Miguel, se notaba lo apasionado que estaba por la Ría Formosa, explicándonos muchísimas curiosidades. Eramos los únicos españoles, y pese a que entendemos el inglés, Miguel se esforzó en ir cambindo del inglés a español. Lo recomendamos 100%, es una maravilla de sitio.

Sortie 3h aujourd'hui. Guide sympa. Mais arrêt sur 2 îles désertes sans aucun intérêt. La 1ère BARETTA, à la limite pour son côté sauvage, mais la 2nde ilha de farol carrément inutile : village de vacanciers fermé à cette époque. Bref 3h de perdues... Inutile de me dire que mes remarques sont précieuses, si vous regardez bien il y avait les mêmes 7 mois auparavant déjà.
Tentez un autre parcours ou un autre prestataire.

We went on a birdwatching tour towards end of February. The conditions were challenging with strong winds and a high tide. There were only 3 passengers and 2 staff. Boat is catamaran with comfy seats. We saw osprey, flamingos, whimbrel amongst others. Although it was the bird expert day off, the crew took pains to find birds and see different parts of the lagoon. Would definitely do again.

We rented a tandem kayak to go around part of the national park. It was very relaxing and there were some really interesting sea birds. Buoyancy aids and a map of the area are provided. The staff were very friendly and there was an emergency number to call if you encountered difficulty.

We wore shorts and T-shirts in November (17 degrees and sunny) which was fine although it was nice to have a light fleece/jacket just in case.

Booking the tour was a pleasure. Susan was so nice and informative and gave us all the info we needed prior to booking the trip. Our guide (Andreas? Sorry if I misspelled your name...) was also great.

Went on the birding tour. Overall I thought it was super fun! As a birdwatcher it was nice to explore a region you could only access on boat. I could appreciate our guide saying he wasn't an expert on birds at the start of the tour (the expert was on holidays). Even though he wasn't an expert he was super informative on the area and gave cool facts about the land and other animals on the area too. Our guide was very helpful, considerate, and made sure everyone on the boat was seeing everything.

I logged 28 species of birds on this trip. Not everything was called out by our guide but he took us right up close to all the birds and I was able to get good looks and photos of everything. The binoculars they provided were good quality and you were able to see everything clearly. I brought my own pair but my wife used the supplied ones and had no issues. The boat was spacious and everyone had lots of room to move around and spot all the birds.

If you're an avid birdwatcher be prepared to spot and call out most of the birds yourself but if you just want to go on a birding tour for fun you'll see flamingos, spoonbills, egrets, herons, oystercatchers and much more.

Overall a great experience for a fair price and if I'm ever back in Portugal I would go again!

Ich hatte eine "Bird Watching" Tour online für drei Personen (2h) reserviert und bezahlt. Obwohl mir online die Verfügbarkeit der Tour bestädigt wurde, erhielt ich kurz nach der Bezahlung einen Anruf, dass die Tour nicht durchführbar sei und ob ich nicht eine andere vergleichbare Tour machen möchte, die eine Stunde eher startet. Ich willigte schlussendlich zu. Nur leider war die Tour nicht vergleichbar. Sie führte lediglich auf zwei Inseln, die regelmäßig auch von den Fähren angefahren werden. Wenn man das gebucht hätte, würde die Tour eine ganz gute Bwertung bekommen, auch wenn für mich der Sinn dieser Tour nicht klar ist, da es nix anderes als eine private Fährfahrt ist (+ ein paar Kommentare). Für mich, der eigentlich eine naturnahe Fahrt durch den Ria Formosa erwartet hat, was es ziemlich enttäuchend!

Nous avons pris le tours de 3h sur les deux iles ilha de faro et ilha deserta, Nôtre guide jesse a su rendre le tour agréable et intéressant avec deux arrets tres différents l'un sur l'ile de faro et son tres joli village pittoresque l'autre sur l'île deserte plus naturelle où nous avons pu observer la faune les pieds dans l'eau lors de la marée descendente.

Très bonne excursion des 2 îles avec coucher du soleil avec JC. Très bon guide ! Nous recommandons. Baignade à Farol et coucher du soleil à l’île déserta.. prolongé dans le bateau. Top !

We had a lovely trip with Paolo on the bird watching tour! He is very knowledgeable about the area, very friendly and great to speak with! The tour was excellent as we saw a variety of birds, even some of the resident flamingos, and learned about the area! Highly recommend ????
