Our family recently stayed at the Milia Mountain Retreat, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled in the heart of Chania, 50km from Chania City Center, this hotel combines simplicity with elegance through its stunning rocky design and beautiful interior decor. We stayed in a complex unit perfect for families: the kids had their own room on the ground floor, and ours was directly above, both equipped with cozy fireplaces that were a blessing during the chilly night.

In the morning, we were greeted with a delightful breakfast that truly felt like home. The staff at Milia went above and beyond, ensuring our stay was not just comfortable but genuinely memorable; their friendliness and exceptional service stood out throughout our visit.

For the adventurous, the hotel offers hiking trails of varying durations (2, 3, and 5 hours), which were scenic and well worth the effort. This unique retreat is a must-visit for anyone coming to Crete, offering a peaceful and invigorating experience that rejuvenated our family. Highly recommended for a relaxing and amazing experience! That couldn't be found anywhere.

Κάτι διαφορετικό, Από τα συνηθισμένα τα παραδοσιακά που συναντάς στην Κρήτη Πολύ ψαγμένη κουζίνα πολύ καθαρά τα δωμάτια και πολύ άνετα αξίζει να το επισκεφτείτε δύο μέρες τουλάχιστον απόλυτη ηρεμία και χαλάρωση!

Ένας μικρός παράδεισος για ηρεμία, ανάπαυση, καθαρό αέρα, εγγύτητα στη φύση. Πήγα για λίγες μέρες και ήταν καλύτερα από θεραπείες, ψυχαναλύσεις, σπα, μασάζ και ό,τι άλλο έχω δοκιμάσει. Οι γενναιόδωροι οικοδεσπότες κέρασαν τοπικές γαστριμαργικές δημιουργίες και προϊόντα, κρασί και άλλα. Το συστήνω ανεπιφύλακτα!

Wonderful lunch in beautiful surroundings

Ein toller Ort zum Entspannen! Abseits gelegen, ruhig, schön zum Wandern. Unglaublich gutes Essen, freundliches Personal ebenso wie der Besitzer. Relativ hochpreisig, aber es lohnt auf jeden Fall!

Milia is a unique village in between the mountains. We have been there as a family several times and never regret the missing mains power. Lately it has a great 4G or 5G signal. Food is excellent. A place to relax and forget about work. Go with your beloved. It's fantastic. enjoy every part of the nature and food.

The rooms differ in between the same category (all lovely). You can make your own fire, wood is supplied. The team can help you to light it up. No electricity except usb! I would not call it a retreat as it is a hotel in the mountain. You can do several hikes from the place. Kitchen closes reletively early, awesome breakfast!

Η τοποθεσία είναι πολύ όμορφη μέσα στο πράσινο. Τα δωματια και οι χώροι είναι πολύ όμορφα φτιαγμένα από πέτρα και ξυλο. Δωμάτια απόλυτα προσαρμοσμένα στο ύφος ενός παραδοσιακού οικισμού , εξοπλισμένα με τζάκι , πολύ ζεστά αφού αναψετε το τζάκι . Απόλυτη ησυχία και ηρεμία όπου ξεφεύγεις από τον τρόπο της συγχρονης ζωής. Υπάρχουν διαδρομές πεζοπορίας μέσα στη φύση όπου μπορείτε να περάσετε τη μερα σας ( με λίγο κούραση λόγω επικλινους εδάφους). Το προσωπικό ευγενικό , καθαρά δωματια . Σας το προτείνω για δυο μερούλες απόλυτης απομόνωσης , ηρεμίας και χαλάρωσης. Αυτό που μπορώ να πω ως αρνητικό είναι το εστιατόριο το οποίο έχει γεύσεις προς γκουρμέ κουζινα καθώς και αρκετά ανεβασμένες τιμες σε σχέση με τη ποσότητα. Πρωινό πολύ καλό, με φρέσκα προϊόντα όπως τα προϊόντα είναι πολύ καλά και στο εστιατόριο. Απλά η σχέση ποσότητας με τιμής είχαν απόσταση!

Εαν όχι ο καλύτερος Ίσως ο καλύτερος αγροτουρισμός στην Κρήτη!

Το φαγητό υπέροχο!!

Very picturesque setting in the mountains. Cozy houses. Kind staff and a good restaurant on the spot. Very good breakfast. This November we rented a two-room house for two nights. The service regarding the rooms could have been better. We asked for extra toilet paper but got none. The maid had not touched our rooms after we've been away on a day tour. And there was no hot water in the sink tap in the bathroom and on the heater, only in the shower. There are several hiking options in the vicinity of the retreat, but beware: At least some of them are very rough, for example the red route with its starting point at Milia's parking space. 1 hour 20 minutes it says but can easily get longer, and some of the stretches are almost straight upwards and across the mountain ridge you can see from the retreat. Fantastic view from the top, though. ????

Η τοποθεσία η φιλοξενία το δωμάτιο και το εστιατόριο κάτσαμε μια μέρα και δεν μας έφτασε επίσης θα σας προτείνω να πάρετε την σουίτα είναι σε πολύ καλή τιμή σε σχέση με την αισθητική που έχει!!!! Σας ευχαριστούμε πολύ θα ξανά έρθουμε σίγουρα!!!!

Nach einer etwas abenteuerlichen, aber landschaftlich schönen Fahrt sind wir am Parkplatz des Restaurants angekommen. Man muss hier parken und läuft ca.5 Minuten zum Restaurant. Es öffnet um 13.00 Uhr und schließt 19.30 Uhr. Dienstag und Mittwoch ist es z.Z. geschlossen. Wir waren an einem Donnerstag im November fast die einzigen Gäste. Das Essen war wirklich sehr lecker und reichlich. Die hausgemachten Ravioli waren ein Traum. Danach gab es einen kleinen Nachtisch und Raki aufs Haus. Wir haben nicht übernachtet.

Im Restaurant haben wir das beste Essen auf Kreta genießen dürfen..

Simplement bu un café

I called the restaurant before going to the place and nobody told me anything about what follows: you have to know that googlemap could send you through roads that are under constructions and will never lead you to the place. I agree that it is not the responsibility of the owners but I assume they are perfectly informed of the situation and I consider like a lake of professionalism not to say anything about it when you gently call before, especially adding that the road that leads to the place is a dangerous dirty road and that you are not allowed to take it with a rental car. More than that, finally at the place, I told the waiter that I was a bit disappointed that they didn't tell me anything on the phone and I lost more than 1h and he wasn't concerned at all(not directly concerned but I mean he could say he will tell the owner and try to informe on the website or if people call). I could tell you through wich village you have to go there not to waist one hour or more, but as they do not seem to care about it... . On the phone they told me the last order is at 19h30 so I went to the place at 17h30...I chose what I wanted to eat, the waiter came so I ordered but he told me that the kitchen was closed for 10 minutes so he could come back later. I really do not get why he didn’t write my order anyway at the moment, since it is so hard to get his attention? After a while(more than 10 minutes), I decided to order a glass of wine and I had to go to the kitchen because I was invisible. The waiter nicely informed me that I could chose from the list, so I thought he would wait 30sec but he disappeared again instead of taking my order? When I finally had my glass of wine -4€, which is expensive for Crete, but I have to say wine by bottles are more affordable-, probably 20 minutes later, I heard the waiter saying to other customers that they had to wait 10 minutes…Finally, after 10 minutes that were 30 minutes, the waiter took my order. Yes the food is very good, like in many many restaurants in Crete, just this is like a fusion cuisine between cretan and northern Europe cuisine. The fact is that in Crete, you find local, homemade, fresh, bio products everywhere, when in northern Europe you have to go to fancy and more expensive restaurants, so what could make the difference here also to justify prices 2 or 3 times higher than in other restaurants is the service, which is not superbad, except for the fact that they can make you wait 30 minutes to order, but certainly not better than in any other restaurant in Crete. If you want to have an original food experience, certainly not typically cretan but with more international tastes, if you don't mind paying 2 or 3 times the local prices, I'd say it is a good place to go.

Ωραίο μέρος! Οτι πρέπει για ξεκούραση και βόλτα στη φύση. Το φαγητό πολυ νόστιμο. Περιμένουμε να ξαναπαμε!! ????????

Totally worth the visit, fantastic flavors!

First things first, how to get here: Google maps is helpful but not perfect. Attached you’ll find a screenshot. The fuchsia circle is where Google said the restaurant was but the yellow circle is where the restaurant actually is. Here’s a tip, once Google tells you “you arrived”, keep driving down the road, you’ll see a parking space. Park your car here and then walk for about 100mts and the restaurant is going to be on your left.

Now onto the food, I took pictures because a pic most of the time is worth more than a thousand words. Our absolute favorites were: Cretan salad, chicken apaki, baked cheese feta, both the meat dishes and the chocolate mousse.

People in the restaurant are very kind and you get stunning views of the mountains. Enjoy!
