A personal note from Andrew Malalika, founder of Jackpot Safaris Tanzania
I still remember one guest very clearly. Florence, a solo traveler in her fifties from Toulouse, had originally planned a five-day safari. Everything was scheduled, tight, efficient. But then came the elephants – a slow-moving herd crossing a dry riverbed in Tarangire, the dust golden in the late afternoon light, their quiet power almost sacred. That evening, sitting by the fire, she looked at me and said:
“Je suis tellement reconnaissante d’être restée plus longtemps. Ce moment… ça valait chaque minute de plus.”
(I’m so grateful I stayed longer. That moment… it was worth every extra minute.)
This is what we believe a safari should be: not rushed, not transactional – but something that unfolds, deeply and personally.
Tanzania – where time flows differently
Tanzania moves to its own rhythm. The slow turn of the savannah, the rising call of a fish eagle, the stillness of a lion at dawn. From the endless plains of the Serengeti to the volcanic bowl of Ngorongoro, every landscape tells a story. But beyond the wildlife and the drama, it’s the quiet moments that stay with you – a sunrise over Lake Manyara, the smile of a Maasai child, the silence just before the zebras begin to run.
Why Jackpot Safaris?
My name is Andrew Malalika. I was born on the edge of the Serengeti and raised by my grandfather, a man who taught me to listen to nature before I ever learned to read it. Together with my wife Esther and our three daughters, I run Jackpot Safaris – a fully local, family-owned company based in Arusha.
We’ve welcomed thousands of travelers from all over the world since 2004. Many of them say the same thing: they didn’t just take a trip – they lived something unforgettable.
Our vehicles & team
You’ll travel in modern Toyota Land Cruisers 4x4, built for the bush, with pop-up roofs for unobstructed wildlife viewing, powerful air-conditioning, and comfort on rough roads. These are not tourist vans – they are true expedition vehicles, maintained to the highest standards.
And perhaps most importantly:
We work with the best safari guides in Tanzania. Not just fluent in your language – but sensitive to your culture, your questions, your rhythm of travel. They are storytellers, companions, protectors of nature – and your link to the real Tanzania.
The difference that matters:
Yes, you’ll find cheaper offers elsewhere. But those often come at the cost of quality: old vehicles, rushed programs, underpaid staff.
A safari is not a bargain hunt. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime journey. And if you can afford to spend a little more – do it. Not for luxury, but for space, silence, trust, and time. Because when a leopard walks right past your Land Cruiser in the soft light of morning, you’ll want a guide who understands the magic of that moment – and who knows how to let you feel it.
