The Gardens Hotel is a magical place! We stayed in a garden room and it was lovely. The pool and bar area is very relaxing. It is laid back, very close to Duval, and the gardens themselves were beautiful. Lucy the cat is a sweetie. The rescued tortoises were very cool. We really enjoyed the included breakfast each morning out by the pool. One of the best places I have ever stayed. If you are looking for a big hotel resort feeling with lots of people then this is not for you. But if you want a boutique atmosphere with high quality this is your place. I highly recommend!!!

What a gem! You’re within walking distance to so much. You are right there in the heart of it, but when you’re on-campus, it’s quiet and secluded. It truly is a garden. Nice pool area outside, no kids or drunk partiers raising hell, and very peaceful. Great service and staff. I love this place!

We were very excited for our stay at this beautiful property. From beginning to end it exceeded our expectations. Reception greeted us with proseco and were very helpful about overnight parking.The Gardens are spectacular. The availability of a 24 hour pool was very nice. Our room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was served to order and was delicious. Since I am allergic to eggs and dairy, they were able to provide me with a delicious piece of cranberry coffee cake....and the coffee was delicious. I cannot say enough great things about this special place. You have to go there yourself....you will not be disappointed. A must See

Wonderful experience at the Gardens Hotel. Our room was immaculate, spacious, and comfortable.

We rented bicycles from the hotel to see the sunrise each morning and after cycling, would return to the hotel for breakfast each morning. Lounging by the pool was perfect during the heat of the day.

The staff were kind and accommodating.

We've stayed at the Gardens Hotel a few times now....each time it gets more expensive, and gets a little less generous. The rooms are lovely, the property is incredible, the pool is warm, the guests are well-behaved. It is very relaxing.....except when the incoming airplanes fly directly overhead, ready to land at the nearby airport. Nothing to be done about that....the airport is expanding, so the number of jets coming in will likely get worse. Otherwise the location is perfect, we can walk to anything and everything in Key West.

Food - it's important in a nice hotel. See my comments about the food box. I got a bit long-winded about the stingy food, went over the character limit for this box. Same for other comments, moved them to other boxes.

So, lack of generosity.....let's hope they keep the gardens at the Gardens.....that would be the next tragedy....scrapping the gardens, shipping out the turtles and koi to build another building to rent out. Or getting rid of the live music....which is another thing I like about the Gardens.

Will you be happy with your stay here? Very likely you will! Unless you remember the generous nature of the place from previous years...

It’s our happy place

I can’t say enough about the Gardens hotel and this was our 31 stay. My husband and I fell in love with this beautiful little boutique hotel back in 2006 and have been staying here year after year ever since. It is a type of place that you wouldn’t expect since it is located just steps off of Duval St. When you enter the main building to check in, the staff is warm and welcoming. Once you check in, you will be escorted to your room which will be located in one of the various buildings surrounding the beautiful pool and gardens.

Each room has a full bath and either a front porch or balcony to overlook the grounds.
A full hot breakfast is served daily and included, but we usually like to go out for breakfast, but it is a great option. We particularly enjoy after a day out and about, relaxing at the pool bar. The bartenders are so much fun and great to talk to and share your stories about your daily experiences in Key West. And an added bonus they have nightly entertainment where you can catch Sunday jazz or Kenny playing the piano.

Let’s just say once you stay at the Gardens, you’ll be hooked like my husband and I are. For us, it is almost like coming home. There is no other place quite like the Gardens. It is a magical place.

From our friendly greeting at the office with an offer of Presceco, which we accepted, we began our sixth visit to The Gardens. We have been coming every January since 2018 with the exception of 2021 (Pandemic). When we checked out on the 17th, we made reservations for next January 2025. The Gardens Hotel is beautiful and welcoming. It is great to meet folks by the pool and bar and talk to Phil and Peggy, who we enjoy visiting with each year. We missed Allen, who we understand is recovering from a broken leg. Kudos to Kate and her team - and it is always fun to chat with Kate at the bar in the evenings.

Been coming to Key West for decades. We finally found an amazing hotel in a quiet street that isn’t far from Duval. Definitely an upscale hotel. We stayed in one of the cottages. All the staff we interacted with was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious each morning. I think most evenings there was live music. The grounds are beautiful. The one downside is that the airplanes do cross overhead but honestly I could barely hear it when I was inside our cottage and it’s not a large airport so it’s not a ton of planes - just a few every once in a while. Definitely didn’t affect our stay or pool lounging.

This was an amazing find for us. We come to KW every couple of years but were unaware of this property. We stayed in cottage 3, which was quite large with a full kitchen, TV room and walk in shower. It also has a heated pool shared with 2 other rooms. The gardens here are spacious, well maintained and gorgeous (see attached photos). They include a small aviary and a pretty large open air tortoise area, as well as several decorative pools and numerous pieces of art. Couple that with an outdoor bar and self serve wine room. There is live music every afternoon. The included breakfasts are delicious and change daily - we were here for 5 nights. The location is also excellent , only a block from Duval.

If I could ask for any changes I would like the option of an earlier breakfast (starts at 8:30 now) and a larger bed (seems to be smaller than a queen). But with so many pluses this is still a 5!

This hotel is paradise.

Where do I start! My husband and I stayed at The Gardens Hotel for 3 nights to celebrate our Honeymoon. We were instantly greeted with a warm welcome and a complimentary bottle of Champagne to kick off our honeymoon which was very unexpected but such a warm touch. We were escorted to our room and on the way, introduced to Phillip the Bartender who was so friendly and welcoming. He had a ton of great stories about Key West and gave us lots of recommendations of places to go while we were there. My husband surprised me with a charcuterie board and wine when we entered the room which the hotel did a fabulous job setting up. The property itself was so beautifully maintained and really captured the essence of Key West. Every morning, we indulged in the complimentary breakfast which wasn't your average hotel continental breakfast. Everything was cooked made to order and was absolutely delicious. On night 2, we were blessed to meet the owner of the hotel and she was fabulous! It's not everyday that you get to have a casual conversation with the hotel owner and learn about the history of the property. On our last full day, Rhonda helped us rent bicycles for the day as well as a beautiful Sunset Cruise on a Catamaran. She also set us up with complimentary buy one, get one free drink cards at one of the dock restaurants before our sunset cruise which was so sweet! Although half our stay took place in the middle of a tropical storm, it was by far the best hotel experience we've had in a very long time. The memories we made while staying here were unbeatable and we absolutely cant wait to make this our annual anniversary trip to The Gardens Hotel!

We had a fantastic stay here. The location, the property, and the service was exceptional. The amenities were fantastic. I would definitely stay here again.
