After 4 days in South Tahoe, all I can say is the food doesn’t even come close to other popular ski towns. Our only exception so far is Cafe Fiore. We didn’t know what to expect walking into the very small, ~12 person dining area but were very pleasantly surprised by the food. The pasta was all cooked very well, but what stood out was the freshness of the ingredients and the sauces. Many times, pasta is over sauced with over powering flavor. All their’s were extremely fresh and light tasting. We also got their swordfish (a house specialty) and it was outstanding. We’re never had fish cooked exactly like that so it was a standout. Even the minestrone soup surprised me to the point where my 8 and 5 year olds were gobbling it down. This is a must try restaurant in the South Tahoe area!

What a great find! My daughter and I go on a long ski trip every year and i rely on her to find great restaurants. Lots of hits and misses. Cafe Fiore was definitely a huge hit. The food, service and ambiance were all perfect. We went with another couple and the 4 of us were really happy with our appetizers, salads and entrees. And the wine selection was well curated with fair prices. I had the seafood fra diavolo. It was perfect. If i can get a reservation, we'll be back this week.

A top tier dining experience, Cafe Fiore is absolutely the best restaurant in Tahoe. I dine here every time I visit and it is always exceptional. The menu is both delicious and creative. The ambience is magical—elevated and intimate. The service is impeccable. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Reservations are hard to come by, so reserve weeks in advance!

This restaurant was terrific. The service was perfect. Definitely get the homemade ice cream to finish your meal. Make reservations for sure it is small inside.

The food is the best place in Tahoe! The staff are so kind and make you feel so special. The atmosphere is charming and romantic. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!

They cancelled our reservation just before dinner because apparently we weren't planning to order enough food.

My girlfriend and I were so looking forward to having a romantic night at this place. We made a reservation way in advance and were excited for this place weeks before visiting Tahoe.

The night of the reservation, we had some food before. When they called us to tell us that the table was ready, we mentioned that we were not feeling too hungry and were planning to only get desserts and drinks, and maybe an appetizer.

They told us that it wouldn't be a big enough order to justify sitting us, and they have a line of people waiting to get in, who are willing to pay more. So, they cancelled our table and didn't allow us to come in.

It would have been understandable if at the time of the reservation they mentioned that a minimum order amount is expected, but neither their website nor the person on the phone said that.

So rude.

The Sea Bass was out of this world!!! The ravioli's stuffed with lobster was amazing!! The service was outstanding. We even were able to enjoy the snow falling.

Amazing food! A little pricy, but definitely worth it. Cozy, romantic, off of the main drag...ruined because the staff was rude to my girlfriend and I on her birthday. Perhaps it was because we used the wrong forks, or drank our wine too fast, or were underdressed. Although we did pay with genuine US dollars just like everyone else.
The only nice one was the blonde lady working there (sorry I didn't catch her name). She was great. Won't be going back and wouldn't recommend it unless you're into that kind of snootiness. There's easier ways to get delicious food.

After reading several good words about the Café fiero-S. Lake Tahoe, we made a reservation (07/31). As all said in their reviews it is in a very small setting, tables are close each other more than you wish to be. We were seated front of the restroom. Practically, I was seeing the people going in and out. They should not put a table in that location where was the worst in the room. The best seat must be reserved for a guest who made the reservation several days before the time. Let others who dropped in the last min sit in front of the rest room or place a Japanese Separator front of this WC door.

The food introduction was good and plenty; the service was also good. The server lady never left us without water etc but not friendly with us. Yet, I did not give two stars for that, my two stars go to the location of our table. Also, some guests got way more attention by the servers than others. An explanation from the restaurant manager/owner will save my speculation, please.

Food was excellent!! Base on server's recommendation, my husband and I got sword fish which was the best we have ever had; specifically capers present a very blended taste.

The bill was over than the expectation we simply paid $175 to this dinner without any desert or drink!! I recommend this restaurant to all who like Italian and good food.

Quaint authenic Italian resturant with impeccable service. Large selection on menu and impressive wine presentation. Great for getting away from the fast pace dining settings and be good to yourself .

I had previously been here 2 years ago, and the service was exemplary. Not sure what changed, but I will never come back. My friend and I tried to order a drink on the patio at 8:30pm on a Saturday night. They were busy inside but nobody was outside. We asked if we could simply order a glass of wine, pay, and sit outside on the empty patio where there was a bonfire set up for a seemingly cosy atmosphere. We were told that was not possible because they "were too busy and that would have taken up another table." We again politely explained we did not need follow-up service and simply wanted to pay for a drink. They said no. We were denied service there for absolutely no obvious reason. I would never recommend this restaurant in the future because of my experience tonight. To put it simply, we wanted to give your business money, and we were refused.

A small place and you need a reservation to be seated. We did not have one. But the host tried to accommodate us, at a much later time due to cancellation. Appreciated the extra effort. May be next time, we’ll make a reservation

Amazing food, very cosy place. Superb service and everything is just perfect.

I’ll recommend all couple to check out this place whilst at Lake Tahoe (make reservation because tables are pretty limited!)

My girlfriend and I celebrated her birthday at Cafe Fiore two days ago, and we both enjoyed the experience. Our server, John, was polite and attentive, yet not overbearing. He even presented a complimentary dessert for my girlfriend after we decided we were full, especially from eating two hours before. I rarely tip, but I left a decent tip because John's catering added value to our experience. The outdoor patio had a nice ambiance that my girlfriend particularly enjoyed. Cafe Fiore has a couple of vegan options, too, and is willing to accommodate. Highly recommend for a formal dining experience in Tahoe.

My family and I have been patronizing this fine establishment since the 90’s. It is one of our most favorites ever because it’s quaint, charming, romantic and always a positive experience. I love the swordfish and my husband & daughter love the bistecca alla veneziana. ???? We love the people too and it’s been locally owned since I can remember. Make sure to get a reservation because there are only 7 inside tables (unless the patio is open). It’s always excellent and best in Tahoe hands down!
