We could manage to sit at the front table. Food was ok linguini with clams was a bit too garlicky and wished risotto was little less cooked but overall it was good enough … always very crowded so you need to wait a bit long for the waiter to come to your table and take orders

Une fois installés sur une table en terrasse proche de l'intérieur au calme, on est pris en charge par un jeune homme très professionnel qui nous apporte une tapenade avec de petites tranches de pain grillées Nous avons pris le menu du jour. L'entrée était un feuilleté aux légumes, burrata et crème de truffe, j'ai bien fait de me laisser tenter, c'était beau, surprenant et excellent avec divers légumes superbement préparés. Pour le plat principal nous avions une bavette d'Angus sur un écrasé de pommes de terre agrémenté de petits légumes, un vrai délice et la viande était très tendre. Notre fille a pris les raviolis ricotta basilic sur un lit de sauce tomate au piment d'Espelette et copeaux de parmesan qui étaient également très bons. Le rosé servi au verre était très bien. Pour les desserts le plateau de démonstration est varié et les quantités généreuses. Le fondant au chocolat servi avec de la crème chantilly ou accompagné de glace vanille était très bien. Pour le prix, j'ai trouvé que la qualité et l'originalité le valait, ainsi que le cadre et le service du jeune homme qui a pris soin de nous. Par contre, je n'ai pas trop apprécié de la part de la dame d'accueil, un peu froide et bien moins avenante que sa collègue avec une coupe au carré très joviale et professionnelle qui nous a redirigé vers elle qui suite à notre demande de placement, nous a installé où l'on a demandé, mais en nous disant bien que la table est réservée pour 13h30. Il était 12h05-12h10, donc poliment nous avons demandé si nous aurions le temps de manger de manière correcte pour ce laps de temps. La réponse a été oui, mais nous avons terminé à 13h35, car les plats ont pris du temps à venir. Nous avons passé tout de même un excellent moment et nous nous sommes régalés.

Great outdoor dining area under the massive linden tree. Our waiter was great despite the restaurant being busy. The courgette flower fritters were light and the tomato sauce was a great accompaniment. The lobster was good although the linguine was a bit bland. The risotto was excellent especially with the crunchy chorizo, even though the chef seemed to have forgot to add the peas, one of the namesake ingredients ! There was no wait for a table as we’d booked ahead.

Oldukça kalabalık, bahçede yer bulmak rezervasyonsuz mümkün değil. Yine de içerdeki ortam, servis yapan garsonun ilgisi güzel. Biftek ve creme brulee içeren menüyü beğendik. Tavsiye edilir.

We often go to Le Tilleul when we go to St Paul de Vence. It is really nice to eat under the tree (in summer, hot days, it is a bit too hot if you are “just” under the parasols). The food is generally good. The choice is large enough without being too much (if the card is very big, it often means it probably isn’t fresh food). The last waitress we had was super nice (a shame I didn’t remember her name), that prompted me to write this review. The table are a little to close to each other but if it doesn’t bother you, then it’s all good.

Nous avons passé un moment agréable dans ce restaurant ! Mon mari et moi nous sommes tout simplement régalés du début à la fin. Chaque plat était savoureux et généreusement servi. Mention spéciale pour les desserts : tout simplement incroyables, à la fois gourmands et raffinés.

Notre serveur a été adorable tout au long du repas, attentionné sans être envahissant, avec le sourire. Le cadre est tout aussi agréable que l’assiette : une vue magnifique, et un restaurant décoré avec beaucoup de goût.

Une très belle adresse que nous recommandons les yeux fermés, et où nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir !

We had a lovely experience at Le Tilleul. The food was good - particularly the veal and the courgette flowers. The service was fantastic - super friendly and attentive. Meals do take their time, so maybe not one if you’re in a rush.

A Culinary Gem in the Heart of Saint-Paul-de-Vence – Restaurant Le Tilleul

We visited Restaurant Le Tilleul as two families—seven people in total—without a reservation, right in the middle of the busy July season (note to future visitors: make a reservation in advance!). Despite the longer wait for a table, our experience was nothing short of exceptional.

From the very start, we were captivated by the warm and attentive service and the truly exquisite food. Each dish was crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, delighting our palates with every bite. The starters and main courses were all extraordinary—duck, steak, fish—every single one cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor.

A special mention must go to the foie gras, easily the best we’ve had anywhere in France. The dessert selection and presentation were both creative and elegant, taking us to a level of culinary ecstasy we hadn’t expected.

To our absolute delight, we had the privilege of being served by the Chef himself, who, despite the late hour and clearly a long and demanding day, welcomed us with a smile and impeccable English, personally recommending his favorite dishes from the menu.

Chapeau bas to the entire team at Le Tilleul. Even in the middle of peak season, with a full house and the natural fatigue of a busy service, every staff member remained cheerful, gracious, and meticulous. Thanks to them, this evening became one of those rare dining experiences that stays with you long after the last bite.

Our visit was the perfect antidote to the phrase “Tell me why I don’t like Mondays.” Thank you, and much respect to the whole team at Le Tilleul for making our evening so unforgettable.

Sur recommandation du domaine ou nous séjournons, nous étions 8 pour diner au restaurant. Les entrées servis avec célérité, tout s’est gâché pour les plats principaux. Apres plus de 40 minutes d’attente, on nous servait toutes sortes d’excuses pour tenter de justifier une erreur qui s’est produite avec le chef de rang ou notre serveuse. Admettre l’erreur avec des excuses est tellement plus facile que de rendre la situation encore plus difficile. Au final, notre serveuse était désolante et désagréable. Dommage, Saint-Paul est si beau!

Nestled in the heart of St Paul de Vence, Restaurant Le Tilleul offers an unforgettable dining experience with a setting as exceptional as its cuisine. The location is simply magnificent, perched in the village center with a spacious terrace that boasts stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It’s the perfect spot to soak in the charm of this historic town.

Service was top-notch: warm, fast, and genuinely welcoming. The staff were efficient and seemed to truly enjoy what they do, which added to the relaxed and joyful atmosphere.

For lunch, we started with the Green Peas Gaspacho and the Zucchini Velouté with Shrimps and Mashed Potatoes. Both dishes were refined, fresh, and full of flavor, simple ingredients elevated with care and creativity.

Dessert was a highlight: we sampled the Crème Brûlée, Fondant au Chocolat, and the Lemon Tart. Every dessert is homemade by their in-house pâtisserie, and it shows. Each one was beautifully crafted and delicious, striking the perfect balance between indulgence and finesse.

Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant in the St Paul de Vence area. Whether you’re stopping for lunch or enjoying a leisurely dinner, Le Tilleul is well worth a visit. A true gem!

We hebben hier geluncht op het heerlijke terras in de schaduw van de prachtige bomen. Onze serveerster was buitengewoon vriendelijk net als de rest van het personeel. De organisatie was dik in orde en het eten prima. Een lekkere smeuïge tartare de boeuf, subtiel op smaak gemaakt en vooraf gefrituurde courgettebloemen (in iets teveel beslag) met een tomatensausje. Laat je geen chablis aanpraten, de lokale huiswijn is heerlijk. Het is niet goedkoop maar de bijzondere (touristische) lokatie in ogenschouw genomen een prima prijs/kwaliteit verhouding. We hebben genoten.

We did a reservation 2 months in advance and got a confirmation from the restaurant. Three days before the date we received a cancellation. Now it is nearly impossible to get an alternative reservation for a party of 8 in high season. This restaurant is no recommendation at all.

My favorite restaurant in Saint-Paul de Vence. It is always delicious here, no matter what you choose, it is always cozy and very atmospheric, there is always a very pleasant service. Sometimes we come here just to have lunch at this restaurant, especially in sunny weather, under an old linden tree, with a view of the mountains.
