You are bound to have a good time mostly if you choose the upgraded room with balcony and a guaranteed great view.
Please beware of the tarantulas that live in the rooms, you might not be as lucky as I was to catch and kill it.
Nobody should ever stay here again until they sort out all the cleaning problems, the stupid extra charges for all kind of imaginery problems, and killing all the spiders and rats.
Additionally, there’s a coffee machine in the lobby where you can grab a cappuccino, coffee, or espresso anytime you like (free of charge and fully automated).
For the service and location, this is the best value you can find in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.
Highly recommend it for couples.
1. False Advertising: the images pf the room and the one they assign you to are very different. I know there was no problem with availability as this hotel was empty the whole week we stayed here. They gave us the worst possible room. The windows and walls made of paper as you can hear everything happening around you, especially the garbage collection each morning at 7:00AM, which for some reason takes a half hour.
2. Breakfast wasn’t included in our booking and this wasn’t mentioned to us at any point. We got charged 22EUR per person for 3 days. Considering the offerings were as poor as they were it is outrageous that they are charging that much.
3. The rooms aren’t cleaned. They’re just “made up”. They pretend to be”deep clean” every three days. But thats bs. They just rinse the sink and shower area. They don’t change sheets until you leave. Because god for id you get any amenities when you stay at hotels anymore. They don’t even wash the mugs. Or replenish you with paper cups.
4. Drinking water. The taps aren’t clean enough to drink from, so they leave refillable bottles for you to drink from in the room. Which btw means you have to go down to the lobby for water. That wouldn’t be such a big deal if we at least had a bottle. We requested it several times we never got ours.
5. Renovating your lobby area and leaving corridors and rooms as is doesn’t make your hotel a modern establishment. It’s just an attempt to fool people as they come in.
This place is doing the bear minimum. A trend I notice in most European hotels nowadays: exorbitant prices with absolutely zero amenities. They rate themselves 4 stars. I have stayed at places a fraction of the price and a half as many stars with better service and quality.
When in Paris, skip over this place. There are lots of Hotels, many with even cheaper prices. Don’t be fooled into thinking you’re getting a better value at this place.
Try harder next time.
- Good location, close to main shopping street
- Reasonably sized room
Cons:
- Very dusty: the room is not very clean or well maintained, the furnishing is covered in dust, even without existing medical condition, I find it very difficult to breathe
- Limited service: despite claiming to be 4 star, the cleaner does not clean to expected standard of a hotel. Did not make up the bed as claimed and did not replenish tea/coffee/water/toilet paper etc. Very disappointing service, better off changing the cleaning staff that lacks attention to detail
- Air-Cond: Does not work for the room, no action taken despite raising to the staff, very hot and stuffy in the room
- Bed and pillows: Dirty pillows are stored in the cupboard before my stay, despite staying for many nights and requested for cleaning, I was told that this is chargeable and they refused to change the beddings and pillow cases.
- Toilet : there is an unpleasant smell from the shower unit, presumably from the internal pipes
Overall: while the hotel has the qualities to be a good hotel, the cleaning staff really let the hotel down. Failure to maintain basic hygiene and cleanliness in the rooms compounded by air cond issues made the stay unpleasant. The hotel tries to hide behind supposed sustainability agenda for lack of cleaning, however other hotels in the global arena was able to do this with greater results if the cleaning staff ensured that the basic maintenance and cleaning is done well.
I can see why so many reviews are negative (most likely for clients that stayed for longer than 2 nights ) and all positive reviewers probably stayed for very short stay (1 night).
Hope the hotel can take action as you have all the potential but failed on basic cleanliness of the hotel room. Very disappointed with the stay.
Les chambres sont belles et spacieuses et la terrasse arborée très agréable !
Mention spéciale à Hélène et Frédéric pour leur accueil personnalisé et sympathique.
