A mythic place where Oscar Wilde spent his last days.
Luxurious and upscale art deco hotel.
Historical building in the heart of St Germain-des-près on the rive gauche of Paris. Artistic neighbourhood close to famous landmarks like Louvre, Pont des Art, Café de Flore, les deux magots and so many other places.
For this stay we decided to do the breakfast package and I am SO glad we did. It was so beautiful to start the day in their eating area and the food... WOW they have totally stepped up the game for their breakfast items from the last time I came... It was delectable and luxurious. One morning we chose to have breakfast in bed which was free with the package and that was such a treat.
The location has to be my favorite part about this place. The area feels so luxurious, safe, and quiet compared to other areas we visited. With beautiful art galleries adorning the streets that give you plenty beautiful things to look at on walks. Close proximity to the seine, the Louvre, Notre dam, and Luxembourg gardens were all highlights that we walked to from the hotel. There are also so many amazing restaurants and bars within walking distance.
L'Hotel was the perfect romantic choice for my husband and I's 5 year anniversary.
Our Deluxe Room was fantastic. The hotel is located on a quiet street. The area is our favourite to stay in Paris with numerous galleries, lovely boutiques and traditional bistros around. The Deux Maggots and Serge Ginsborough house museum are minutes away.
Special thanks to Florian for being so helpful and advising us on great places to go for a dinner.
The concierge and front desk staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. The only exception to this was the overnight front desk person was sleeping at the front desk when we went down early one morning.
The ambience of the hotel lobby is cool. It gives a very comfortable feeling and vibe. It’s a good location, central to St Germain des Pres and close to the metro and some classic cafes and restaurants.
One evening, we wanted to get a couple of the cocktails in their lounge. They looked so tasty on the menu. When we ordered, the server told us he can only pour us (overpriced) wine because the bartender left for a while. Odd.
The room we got - room 50 (Grand) was a good size. The problem is that the space is used so poorly. There are literally no drawers for us to unpack our clothes, so we had to live out of our suitcases for 10 days. The carpets are in very poor shape and are fraying at the edges. There is a thermostat on the wall, but they have it set so you can’t adjust the temperature in the room. In order to get it cool enough to sleep, you need to open the windows. But there is a loud bar next door, so you can’t sleep with the windows open.
Because of the strange upkeep of the room, we decided not to even bother going to the hammam because we assumed the upkeep would be similar.
If you think of a five star hotel, you think of the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, etc. This hotel is not close to a five star hotel. At best, it’s a three star hotel. I would not choose this hotel again.
