Really enjoyed the atmosphere - it was bustling on a Sat evening, but did not feel crowded.
The tasting menu was delightful - each spoonful of soup had multiple layers of flavours that would evolve in the mouth; 2nd dish was mackerel and beets which complimented very well with the sesame sauce (did not expect how well it went together); my favourite was the (3rd) manta ray dish - again, each mouthful was a medley of flavours and textures that transformed in the mouth; 4th dish was duck - I took off 1 star for service because this server seemed to be in a hurry and did not explain the dish like the others - I wish I knew what the other components of the dish were - I especially enjoyed the bulb radish-like vegetable (3rd photo - if you had this dish or work for Colvert, feel free to reply with the description - still interested in knowing!); dessert was pear and two flavours of ice creams.
Service was friendly and wine suggestion was bang on.
Apparently the chef is quite known in France as he appeared on Television. I do not have tv so I can’t judge, and if you’re reading this in English, you shouldn’t know neither.
It doesn’t really matter. What matters is the result.
The result is good. So little touches of acidity, a bit of crunchiness, it’s fun, not pretentious and of great value.
The atmosphere is of a bistro on the left bank, which makes it the perfect stop when visiting.
The sound management goes with the territory, it could be easily be a bit noisy (but, hey, it’s a bistro style).
My waiter was very friendly.
The room for improvement: the bread that I had could be better, and I was missing little touches at the beginning and the end (a little appetizer or a sweet element with the coffee: to start and close the experience).
The plus: the lunch menu price is very decent (which may explain the point above), very French bistro with only French customers when I was there, and a chef that seems to be working to be more on the gastronomic side than on the bistronomic.
Solid Michelin entry.
Service gentil mais lent
Musique d’ambiance (comme partout actuellement ) assomante
