French onion soup. After the first bite I actually googled to see whether French onion soup is actually French or if it’s an American invention, like fettuccine Alfredo and orange chicken. You can see in my photos that the cheese they use isn’t Gruyère, bc who finely GRATES that kind of cheese? The cheese tasted like a bad, unsalted mozzarella or something. The bread they used seemed to be WHEAT bread (it’s so dark) and had a bitter wheat taste, not like a normal white bread baguette. The soup itself had no salt or any other spices.
I thought by selecting a place that wasn’t right next to the Musee d’Orsay I’d actually get decent food. But the place is absolutely a huge waste of money.
Les plats sont vraiment bons et l'esprit du lieu est vraiment sympathique.
Les plats, les prix, le service tout est assuré pour passer un vrai bon moment digne d'une brasserie.
Entrez y les yeux fermés!
We stopped by this bistro on our way to the Musée d’Orsay, as it looked like a cozy and inviting place for lunch. Since we had a reservation at the museum at 1:30 p.m., we arrived at 12 and specifically asked if a quick lunch was possible. The staff assured us it wouldn’t be a problem.
Our drinks arrived promptly, which gave us hope for a smooth experience. However, we waited quite a while for our food. After 30 minutes, we kindly asked about it, and were told it was “on its way.” fifteen minutes later, growing concerned about time, we asked another staff member—only to find out they had forgotten to prepare our order entirely.
Unfortunately, we had to leave without eating, as we couldn’t miss our museum visit. Although they offered the drinks for free, it felt like the bare minimum after such poor service.
We left disappointed by the lack of organization and accountability. Never again.
Special thanks to my niece, Kaat Vuchelen, who kept me entertained and in good spirits during the long wait—definitely the highlight of the experience!
The food was delicious and old fashioned... old Paris charm.
I had a delicious complete « comptoir » breakfast - brunch really and totally enjoyed myself. The staff are genuinely friendly and you can tell that there are a lot of regulars - always a good sign.
