Wonderful, authentic French restaurant with delicious traditional foods cooked to perfection. We had two different main courses, duck breast and pork tenderloin, and both were outstanding. The owners are the server and chef, and they were friendly and gracious. The experience was five stars all the way!

Tucked away behind Notre Dame, Caveau de L’Isle is a little bistro that pleasantly surprised us. We were strolling past when the warm, inviting ambiance drew us in, and we’re so glad it did. This charming, history-steeped spot delivered not only on atmosphere but also on flavour and service.

We began with the foie gras, rich and silky, setting the tone perfectly. For mains, the beef bourguignon and coq au vin were hearty, comforting, and deeply satisfying, classic French fare done right. Each bite felt like a warm hug from the kitchen. The grand finale? A tarte Tatin that was nothing short of decadent, caramelised just right and beautifully balanced, rounding out our savoury journey with a sweet finish.

Naturally, we washed it all down with a few local vintages, because when in Paris, right?

Whether you’re after a spontaneous meal or a cosy date night, Caveau de L’Isle is well worth the detour. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve uncovered a true Parisian secret.

It was ten years ago when my wife and I rented an apartment three doors down from this wonderfully warm and welcoming restaurant.We had several memorable dinners there during our weeks in residence. All were fantastic! Last night we returned and felt as if time never passed. The ambience was stunningly genuine and the kindness of the staff directed by the amazing Sandrine was five star. The food was as good as we remembered and enjoyed even more because we had friends to share it with.

If you want dinner in Paris to be one to remember, this is where memories are made.

Sono andato a cenare in questo ristorante con la mia fidanzata. Abbiamo trovato un ambiente piccolo e accogliente, personale gentilissimo. Abbiamo mangiato entrecote e petto d'anatra, entrambi buonissimi, salse ottime e contorni gustosi. Anche i dolci consigliati, soprattutto la creme brule. Vino francese ottimo. La posiziona ottima per una bella passeggiata post cena verso notre dame.

Welcoming traditional French bistro with specials out front posted. We had boeuf bourguignon and coq au vin. They were delicious. We had the red charlotte for dessert with a blanco martini and two aperitifs - a whisky and a limoncello.
Reasonable prices for a nice evening at less than 90 euros for all. Including a nice Bordeaux with dinner.

I have eaten here three times. My last visit I was the only patron in the restaurant. I ordered appertif, wine, appetizers and meal. My meal was cold. I was the only person in the restaurant! I ordered Duck Breast and it was cold. Any hot order was not hot. I was appalled. Previously had been a good standard, but I will never go back. If the "chef" cannot cook properly for one diner in the restaurant, I am not to return. Sad too.

En étant arrivés avec mon grand père et ma soeur, une femme travaillant dans ce restaurant nous à poussé du trottoir devant un camion qui arrivait à grande vitesse. J’ai du me tenir devant le camion afin d’éviter que ce camion renverse mon grand père et ma soeur. La femme nous a pas presenter d’excuses et nous avions comme-même demander si nous pouvions rentrer. Elle nous à dit non, qu’ils n’étaient pas ouverts. Ma soeur alors voulait demander quand ils seraient ouverts puisque d’après leur site ils étaient déjà ouverts. La femme l’a brusquement interrompue et à soupirer de façon agacée en disant hautainement « Oui, mais nous sommes en retards! » De suite nous avons décider d’aller ailleurs, le restaurant juste à coté nous a accueilli chaleureusement et la nourriture était très bonne! Si vous ne voulez pas être traité comme des touristes allez ailleurs.

Édition en réponse au commentaire du propriétaire:
C’était bien le Caveau de L’Isle et la rue où vous aviez pousser mon grand-père était la rue St-Louis-En-L’Île. Je ne dis pas que le camion était conduit par quelqu’un du restaurant mais la personne qui a poussé mon grand-père dans la rue était une employée du restaurant puisqu’elle affichait le menu dehors. Vous êtes soi inexcusablement inconscient ou simplement de mauvaise foi puisque vous niez que c’est votre restaurant au lieu de présenter vos excuses ou essayer de comprendre ce qui c’est passé. Si vous allez répondre de nouveau à ce commentaire, j’espère vivement que c’est pour présenter vos excuses à mon grand-père et à ma soeur.

Cuisine très très bonne , j’ai mangé une soupe à l’oignon excellente, la blanquette de veau la viande très bonne les légumes cuits juste comme il faut. Nous reviendrons en espérant avoir une autre serveuse souriante, et qui s’occupe des clients aux lieux d’être sur son téléphone. Bravo aux cuisiniers

Cosy, warm, and chic bistró with excellent attention. Real french comfort food with genuine flavours.
Walk-ins are allowed, which is really appreciated in a crowded city like Paris.

Nous avons offert un dîner dans ce restaurant pour la soirée du nouvel an à mes parents et ils ont été conquis! Tant le cadre, que la qualité du service, que la convivialité des patrons et serveurs, ou la qualité des mets les ont ravis!

It's a very cozy place, but it's slow service. We waited for more than half an hour for them to take the order, but they ignored us. I did not even have the chance to try any dish. When we said that we had waited a lot, the waitress said that she thought someone had taken our order, although we were still with the menus on the table.

Un bistrot traditionnel où il fleur bon les parfums des plats d'autan : boeuf bourguignon, blanquette de veau, coq au vin et pour les autres, une carte orientée sur l'étale du boucher.
Tous les plats sont maison y compris les déserts.
Bref un bistro fort sympathique, une cuisine gourmande et un accueil familliale, le tout à deux pas de notre dame.

Superbe restaurant extrêmement cosy/chaleureux, qui fait voyager dans d"autres temps...avec une tres bonne cuisine✨️
La patronne reçoit tres chaleureusement ses clients et a le souci du détail- elle a accédé à la demande formulée plus tôt sans que je le sache pour nous trouver la plus jolie table près de la cheminée..- ptite dinguerie au vu du quartier..-avec tout ça une belle dose d'humour, et un délicieux dblon Limoncello/Grand Marnier offert pour joliment clôturer le diner.
Un grand merci pour votre accueil chaleureux qui a rajouté une touche de magie inattendue au lieu & à la soirée..

Mon plat à été échangé et malgré qu'une collègue ait commencé à le manger il a fallu que je demande qu'on me le change pour que cela soit fait. Les éléments sont arrivés froid ensuite je doute fort que mon plat ait été refait comme promis.

Vi letade efter en klassisk fransk restaurang och vi hittade denna. Otroligt god mat. Kyckling i kastanjsås respektive coq au vin. Fantastisk betjäning som kändes helt äkta.
