The rooms here are small, but that is to be expected with it being Paris. I appreciated our balcony (top floor rooms only) and the view of the top of the Sacre Couer. We did not keep our balcony door open at night because they have AC in this hotel, and had no issues with the music from across the street as described in other reviews (and I am sensitive to noise).
Riding in the elevator in the morning was amazing, as it smelled like fresh bread from the boulangerie next door (I guess this is why).
The service was excellent all-around, and I would definitely stay here again and recommend anyone else too as well!
Firstly, there’s a very loud bar just across the street, which stays open until 2 AM every night. Even on weekdays, the noise from people singing and making a lot of noise is a major disruption, which made it hard to get a good night’s sleep.
Secondly, the breakfast experience this time wasn’t great. The breakfast service was run by only one woman, who seemed very stressed. While I understand it’s unfair to expect her to manage everything alone, it still impacted the overall experience. Our order was delayed by about an hour, and when it arrived, it was wrong. To make matters worse, we were charged for two menus, even though we didn’t order that many. We didn’t make a fuss at checkout, but when we returned to collect our luggage later, the same waitress was speaking in French to her colleagues at the reception, making sure I had paid the full breakfast amount. I found this behavior rather unkind, especially since we had been polite throughout. She seemed to direct her frustration at us (we were an easy target—friendly and patient), while she was clearly stressed by the large group she was dealing with. She wouldn’t have dared to show them the same attitude, as they were less friendly than us. VERY BAD ATTITUDE is what we received, instead of an apology or any attempt to make up for the messed-up breakfast experience.
Because of these issues, I’m considering trying a different hotel next time. Overall, I’ve had good experiences here before, but this stay was less enjoyable due to these downsides.
We got lucky with an early check-in, and every person we spoke to at the Front Desk was so friendly and helpful.
We definitely recommend staying here, and we'll for sure be back the next time we're in Paris!
We visited in January which may be why we found the location quiet and restful. I cannot vouch for volume levels during peak travel season, but I suspect the convenience of the location would more than offset the irritation of any street noise.
The rooms are super cute, very Parisian and the staff and amenities at the hotel are all worth it. The location is close to pigalle station on the metro and a quick 20 minute walk to Gare du Nord. When we arrived on the train, we walked to the hotel and found it with ease.
Our plans changed and we had to change our stay to just one night in this hotel, so when I changed the booking, I picked a regular room. When we arrived, the staff were so warm and welcoming and they even upgraded us to the grand room, so that was a nice surprise to us! It made our quick stay just that much more memorable. The room had a view of the streets and the buildings around, but still was fairly quiet at night and for being a relatively popular area.
The bed was comfortable, and the room had a lot of space.
The restaurant on the ground floor has a lot of great options, highly recommend.
Biggest takeaway is that the walls are SO thin. We could fully hear every word spoken in the room across the hall from ours. The halls, elevators, and rooms are cramped and dark. We were woken up several times by drunk guests walking up the stairwell because all the walls are so thin. We slept every night with white noise and ear plugs.
Every time someone in the hallway walked through or unlocked or opened the door or spoke in the hallway, we could hear it as if it were our own. The single elevator couldn’t fit the two of us with minimal luggage.
The staff was kind though.
Ultimately, I don’t think this felt like a 4 star hotel, and I wouldn’t stay here again.
The best thing was how kind the staff were, in particular Alex. He was so kind and thoughtful. On our last day, he purchased a box of madelines for our daughter (simply because I said she liked them). These little touches are truly special. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Beware of rooms on the first floor, ours was near the kitchen vent and it smelled of frying, so we moved rooms (unfortunately to a smaller room, which then had a water leak).
Great location and nice breakfast but can't recommend due to the fact the first room smelled horrible and the second room was smaller and we then had to move at 10pm at night.....
Hotel refunded the second night as we didn't stop there, didn't offer any compensation for the fact we had to move hotel at 10pm with no assistance.
