Had a lovely set menu with matching wines. Excellent food. There were clearly problems behind the scenes when we arrived but the two waitresses worked very hard, were pleasant and friendly, and rescued a slightly shaky start (when no food was coming out or orders being taken).

Bouchon Bordelais provided one of the best dining experiences we've had in Bordeaux over more than a decade of visits. From start to finish, everything was simply superb.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, clearly dedicated to crafting a high-quality experience for every guest. Their knowledge shone through, especially with their perfect wine recommendations that beautifully complemented our meal. Our party was half French and half English and they had no hesitation to kindly explain details of the menu and dishes in both languages perfectly.

And what a meal it was! The food is delicious and of an unbelievable quality for the price point, offering incredible value. Every dish was a testament to culinary excellence. Beyond the food and service, the ambience was superb, creating a wonderfully inviting and enjoyable atmosphere.

We will definitely be coming back again. If you're looking for an unforgettable meal in Bordeaux, Bouchon Bordelais is an absolute must-visit.

Best dining experience we had in France on all levels!

We can for lunch and it was the best meal we have ever had. Left feeling full, satisfied, and not sleepy! The perfect place. Tempted to come back for dinner tomorrow!

Très jolie table de plats cuisinés avec attention.
Le service est attentif et convivial, l'ambiance agréable et décontractée.
Salle un peu bruyante qui incitera à rester dehors, même si la terrasse manque de soleil, on y est au calme.
On regrettera juste qu'il n'y ait pas de menu de midi pour pouvoir revenir plus souvent.

We recently dined at what promised to be a fine dining experience in Bordeaux, France. And credit where it’s due, the food was excellent, creative, and very well presented. Each course was a testament to the chef, and under different circumstances, it would have been a memorable evening.
Unfortunately this is where the positive part ends, the service cast a shadow over what should have been a highlight of our trip. From the moment we were seated, there was a distinct coldness from the waitress that quickly turned into something more uncomfortable. Despite us being English, she repeatedly brought up grievances with Donald Trump and Elon Musk — two figures we neither represent nor support, and who are, of course, not even from our country. Her comments were bizarre and increasingly aggressive, creating an atmosphere that felt more like an interrogation than a dinner. She then confronted us as a table, coming up with various excuses for her behaviour, one of which was that we should see how the head chef speaks with her.
Things were made worse by the treatment of one of our group who is vegetarian. She was met with disdain and treated as a nuisance for requesting meat-free options — which, I might add, should not be considered unusual in any decent restaurant in 2025.
It’s disappointing when such clear culinary talent is let down by front-of-house behavior that borders on hostile. We left feeling more stressed than satisfied, despite the superb food. In hospitality, service is half the experience — and sadly, this was a case where it actively undermined everything else.
We had come over for a couple of days to join our friends on their holiday, and to celebrate one of our group's 40th birthdays. Unfortunately, their birthday fell on the night we attended here. Every other meal out, for ourselves and the rest of our party, across Bordeaux was fantastic and the service at even the most basic of establishments far exceeded what you can expect here.
If you like good food but terrible treatment, then this is the place for you.

Petit restaurant dans une rue discrète. Le personnel est très sympathique et de bon conseil. Cuisine excellente, le gaspacho de concombre à tomber.

We ordered a 3 plate menu which was consisted from a minimal soup in a kind of sauce of cucambers (!!!) and something else we couldn't specify ,followed by a plate with monkfish and....moush of cucambers again,while the other plate was duck with a fairly accepted sauce. Not to mention the diminished amount of food... and the inconsistent price we paid. The only thing that saved this night were the 2 excellent waitresses who really did their best and we're really thankful.

Déjeuner à deux il est préférable de réserver car le lieu est petit. Ambiance chaleureuse, nourriture excellente, bon vin. Un endroit incontournable sur Bordeaux centre. Alain et Sylvie

Came here on a Tuesday evening after making a reservation online for 8:15. They aptly call it a cozy restaurant because the tables were already 75% full in spite of opening at 8pm and new arrivals had to squeeze in sideways to get to their seat. The tables nearby had many couples, 1 singleton, groups of friends, even a dog (first time seeing this while in Bordeaux). The service is 100%+ positivity and energy and joy. Their excitement and authentic desire to make your evening special is palpable. I was impressed at their speed of speech in both French and English. They offer a 4 or 6-dish set. We chose the 4. The entrees were okay. The plat and dessert were divine. The restaurant feels like a happening place to be. It is definitely fun to sit near the wall and people watch. Thank you for a fun night!

Nous avons dîné dans ce restaurant, une cuisine surprenante pas traditionnelle mais excellente beaucoup d'originalité très travaillée, une très belle carte de vins accompagne tous ces beaux plats un grand moment. Les serveuses donnent une dynamique à la salle incroyable. Il faut connaître la partition du menu il faut donner l'envie de plonger dans l'assiette avant le dernier mot de la serveuse...... Bravo à ce service exceptionnel et cette cuisine exceptionnelle grande découverte pour moi. Marie

Petite carte mais pour tous les goûts, tous absolument délicieux ! Super ambiance et personnel attentionné. Complètement dépassé nos attentes, je recommande vivement une visite dans ce charmant restaurant. Besoin de réserver à l'avance!

Merveilleuse expérience du début à la fin! Nous avons eu beaucoup de chance d'avoir une table car nous n'avions pas réservé, mais nous sommes arrivés juste à temps! Nourriture délicieuse, serveur sympathique et charmant et juste le bon équilibre entre détente et fantaisie.
