Stunning hotel, room & location. I stayed in Josephine Baker & it was amazing. Right in the centre of town. You can’t park at the hotel so not suitable for people with mobility issues or who don’t do stairs or walking. Pool area is beautiful. Breakfast was lovely. So relaxing.

I came to Sarlat to attend a friend’s wedding, knowing absolutely nothing about the city beforehand. Choosing this hotel turned out to be the best decision of my entire trip.

I arrived very late on the night of check-in, at midnight. Instead of calling to rush me, the hotel sent a clear instruction email via hotels.com, explaining how to check in at a partner hotel nearby. The night staff at the partner hotel were extremely efficient. They completed the check-in in under five minutes, walked me to my hotel, and gave me clear directions to the associated parking lot. They even called me afterward to make sure I found the parking without any trouble.

Breakfast options were simple but more than enough, and the atmosphere in the dining area was wonderful. I especially want to commend the manager, Eric, for his kind attitude and willingness to help. While my wife and I were having breakfast, he noticed we wanted to sit outside but the outdoor tables were all taken. He went out of his way to move a table and chairs from inside so we could enjoy our meal outdoors.

It is hard to imagine that behind the charming, historic exterior, the rooms are so modern and well-equipped. It truly added the perfect touch to our stay in beautiful Sarlat.

Combined with the friendly and attentive staff, I would absolutely recommend spending a night here.

Le Petit Manoir is a boutique hotel in the middle of Sarlat-la-Caneda. I stayed for 4 wonderful nights. The hotel has an enclosed parking lot a few blocks away which is very convenient. I, like others, had a problem finding it, but I parked in a lot, called the front desk and Gail kindly came to get me and show me the parking garage! ||She then carried my luggage up the stairs for me. Everyone at the front desk was very helpful. The breakfast room is small but good to start the day. ||When you walk out of the enclosure for the hotel, you are right in the midst of town which is a lovely town. Make sure you are there for market day - such a big market for the size of the town!||My room was spacious and I had a balcony and a walk in shower which for me was perfect. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. ||I was very happy being in the town. I took a small group tour each day to see the other towns. Such a beautiful area.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 5 magical nights in the beautiful Etienne de la Boetie room. I loved the room’s decor and the bed was probably the most comfortable bed that I have ever slept in! We also really enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. The baguettes were so fresh and warm and the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. The hotel also has a very nice and helpful staff. The hotel’s location was only a few minutes walk from every restaurant that we dined in. We parked in the hotel’s parking garage which can be challenging if you have a large car. Fortunately, there were a couple of roomier spaces that we were lucky enough to get for most of our stay. Sarlat is a very charming town and a great base from which to explore the area. I would definitely stay in this hotel again if I ever return to Sarlat.

I highly recommend Le Petit Manoir and we would definitely stay here again.

The front of the hotel is all medieval, stone walls and a thick wooden castle door. It was so fun stepping back in time.

Upon check in, our host at the front desk, David, was very friendly and helpful. He showed us to our room that was up the spiral, castle-like staircase. It was like climbing an archer's turret to get to our room.

Our room was the Empress Euginie, a beautiful room with a king bed and a small deck. We loved this room!

The breakfast in the morning had just about everything we would want including eggs, cheese, meats, breads, and so much more. The coffee machine made us our morning cappuccinos that we love on vacation.

One of the best aspects of this hotel is its location. It is right in the old town. And the old town is indescribably beautiful, full of shops and restaurants. We only needed to walk a minute to get to the town square for drinks, food, and even some entertainment.

Beautifully restored and maintained C15th manor house; perfectly located on the main street, very close to markets and restaurants (aux 3 sens, Coin Coin, L’Entrpote). We had 5 nights in Josephine Baker, just off first floor landing. Spacious, beautifully decorated, lovely outlook, quiet, great storage, desk, seating area, spacious bathroom - everything you could need. Nice breakfast room & small bar area. Valerie & Cecile on the Front Desk could not have been more helpful. Would definitely stay here again - highly recommended.

We stayed at Petit Manoir for five nights as we explored the Dordogne River valley, and had a wonderful time. We chose the Fenelon Room, which looks out over the pool area with its own outdoor seating, and loved it. When we arrived, Valerie took it upon herself to bring our very heavy bags in as we parked the car - way more than we expected — and Cecile and Davide were equally friendly and helpful. (I was actually able to buy some of apricot lavender jam from the kitchen - a great find.) The hotel is beautiful, historic, and well appointed. The breakfast is excellent and fresh, with lots of choices and a friendly breakfast staff. One of the best features is the hotel’s great location for day trips to the Dordogne River Valley towns and castles. We thought this region was really magnificent and to come back each day to such a lovely and welcoming hotel made our whole experience top notch. The only caveat is driving your car down the pedestrianized main street, which can be tricky, made even more difficult by the Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning markets. I would advise calling the hotel in advance to tell them when you expect to arrive and get guidance on how to best get to the right place — GPS will try to take you down streets that aren’t for cars. Once you’re there, the hotel has easy free parking in a garage just outside the main part of the old town; a seven-minute walk to the hotel. This is a wonderful place to say in Sarlat.

There are not enough superlatives to describe this hotel or its incredible staff! We had an unfortunate situation upon arrival to the Drodogne Region and needed to find alternative lodging, and received a local recommendation to see if we could find a vacancy at this hotel. Luck prevailed and we received a warm welcome from the staff who went ABOVE AND BEYOND to accommodate our every need. This hotel is a gem in the heart of Sarlat-la-Canéda surrounded by many shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean, spacious and opulent in decor and the bathrooms are luxurious! The outdoor swimming pool is a relaxing oasis, the breakfast is wonderful the off-site private parking garage very convenient. The staff turned an arrival disappointment into a dream! From 4 American women, we say, “Merci beaucoup!” |Patti N.|Trinity, FL, USA

The location is in the core of the medieval city, attractive and inconvenient at the same time. Hotel parking is available, paid, about 300 meters distant. Difficult to figure out and difficult to navigate. Once overcome, we were upgraded to a deluxe suite on the main floor, a welcomed benefit. It was rather odd but well equipped. Once logistics are overcome, the location is convenient to restaurants and shops. Be sure to book parking, you’ll need it along with GPS to make it all work. Service was helpful.

Fantastic staff. Fantastic bathroom and bathtub. Convenient location if you really want to be in the medieval city.

While this is a 1 year old hotel, the rooms just feel old in a bad way (the carpet probably doesn't help any). I did not purchase breakfast, but at the price this hotel charges, breakfast and non-alcoholic mini bar should simply be included.

The hotel is located inside a medieval city. There is no parking available at the hotel. It is often not possible to access the hotel by car.

The hotel sent me an email indicating I should park at another hotel and call them to help with bags, etc.; I believe their intention was to help with everything from there, but no parking was available at the other hotel -- so we did not park there and call them.

When we arrived at le petit manoir, the lady was nice checking us in, showing us our room, showing good places to park on the map, telling us about restaurants, etc...

There was no elevator, and no offer to help with our bags at this point. So we dragged our bags in and up 3 floors. I believe the hotel had no other staff at the time to offer any help (not sure, it was late afternoon).

The staff was very apologetic at checkout and insisted on helping us with our bags on the way out. I felt bad as it seems this was the housekeeping/wait staff doing the job the bell staff should be doing.

At best this is a nice 3-star hotel. To be a 4-star hotel, it really needs full time bell service due to the lack of an elevator.

Overall, I just felt the hotel was way overpriced for what we got; we have stayed at far nicer hotels that included far more at less than half the price of this hotel.

I regret staying at this hotel. I expected far more for the price. I would not stay here again.
