Comfortable hotel in the center of town with great service and a pretty garden and swimming pool. Our room was beautiful, very big and quiet even though it faced the street. Very close to restaurants and only a few minutes walk to the chateau.

If this was a 3 star hotel no issues with the physical environment. Good location. Room was large enough. Fairly quiet but older structure so hear people walking above - breakfast was fine - nothing out of the ordinary but good and filling. The problem here is it’s registered as a 4 star hotel of which it is not. It’s the little things that differentiate the two. For example no shampoo was provided and when asked received something very basic - they are very strict about enjoying your own food on the sunny area outside - only can consume what one buys. There were some clothes left in chest from previous guest. When asked ahead to book dinner reservations they had “ forgotten” and when asked later they did.

Although one of the hotel staff, Aurelie, and another gentleman were very nice and helpful the manager is not customer focused and was down right rude. She had told us to park in a designated space in parking area. One evening we went to park and there was another car in our space. Then we couldn’t get into door from garage to hotel grounds as a heavy door that was not supposed to be closed was. We had to walk all the way around building ( about 7 minute walk ) to get in. When we told the manager she didn’t apologize and acted like no big deal

. The worse thing that almost ruined our stay was I also wanted ice ( again most 4 star hotels would have that easily available ) and when manager was on phone I saw the little kitchen where the fridge was and where a hotel staff had gotten me ice before. I went in to retrieve ice. The pocket door was totally open so I didn’t see a sign that said for guests to not enter. When the manager saw that I was in this little kitchen she just exploded with anger- - yelled at me - closed the door to show me sign - would not listen at all to my explanation. She was truly rude and inappropriate and all she had to say was “ excuse moi - guests not allowed - I’ll happily get you u ice “ but she made a scene - I wanted to leave the hotel it was so distressing. Other reviews have also commented on this manager’s outbursts.

Unfortunately I would never recommend this hotel now and have informed my travel agent. If you don’t mind paying 4 star hotel prices for a 3 star facility with a rude and disrespectful manager go for it. The hotel literally next door has a fabulous restaurant- nice hotel staff and a prettier external environment

Charming 18th century post office that was later converted to a residence. The owner than converted into a hotel. The rooms I would expect for a very small village of 13,000 people are just fine. The town is located by many of the local chateau and Vineyards. Off street parking is available for 12 a night through the hotel.

The rooms are gorgeous and beautifully updated. We had the windows open and it was quiet. We enjoyed wine (that we purchased from the owner) in the courtyard each evening. The lift was a nice bonus. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel but went out for pastries each day. Enjoyed the coffee in the room, as well as the refrigerator. Great on-site parking for our large vehicle. The pool looked nice but it was closed for the season.

Sans oublier Pierre Luc aux petits soins pour tous les clients.Les petits déjeuners sont incroyables. A refaire sans aucune hésitation. Demeure magnifique avec piscine.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautifully renovated 1700's era building. Close to downtown without being noisy. Restaurant recommendedations were excellent. On-site parking is available and a must if you have a car. Nice breakfast is an option. Has mini fridge, nesspesso, and kettle.

We truly loved our stay at Au Charme Rabelaisien in Amboise. The team were so friendly and helpful and we loved chatting with them. Breakfast was delicious and the room we had was gorgeous, comfortable and had a view of the Chateau from the window! It was the perfect location for us to cruise around to some other nearby destinations and an easy walk to some great spots for food and drink at the end of the day. The train station was super close when we left for Paris afterwards. Thank you again to the whole team there, they really made our stay a special one. ✨

There is not one negative thing we can say about this hotel. The rooms were spacious, quaint, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The owners and staff were super nice and helpful. The views of the castle from our window were spectacular. The location was perfect-convenient to town, shops, and restaurants. We were so pleased to have spent our 6 nights in Amboise at Au Charme de Rabelaisien.

Très bel hôtel de charme avec piscine dans le centre d’Amboise. Le personnel est adorable et aux petits soins pour ses clients. La chambre face à la piscine est spacieuse et agréable. Elle est à l’écart des autres chambres de l’hôtel, ce qui nous permet d’être particulièrement au calme. La literie est très confortable. Le petit déjeuner (19 euros par personne) sous forme de buffet est copieux et varié. Un petit bémol : Les toiles d’araignées sur les lustres et étagères mériteraient d’être retirées. Attention : Le spa n’est pas compris dans le prix de la chambre (supplément de 40 euros pour 1 heure).

Le seul intérêt de cet établissement réside dans sa situation centrale à Amboise et la chambres plutôt spacieuse. |Pour le reste, tout est médiocre : déco datée, accueil obséquieux, chambre bruyante côté rue et mal insonorisée des chambres voisines, protège-oreillers jaunis et malodorants...|Le "charme rabelaisien" est définitivement rompu au petit-déjeuner, indigent, à base de produits de l'industrie agro-alimentaire quasi-exclusivement.|Au final, on a davantage l'impression de séjourner dans une chambre d'hôtes de niveau moyen que dans un hôtel 4*, sauf pour le tarif.|Vous trouverez facilement de bien meilleures adresses à Amboise ou dans les environs.

Super accueil de jour comme de nuit. |À notre arrivé nous avons été reçu par une charmante dame, qui nous a accompagnée jusqu’à notre chambre et orienté pour nos visites et restos.|L’hôtel est très bien situé, proche de tous les lieux de visites, de la rue piétonne avec ses boutiques, cafés et restaurants.|C’est un hôtel 4 étoiles qui mériterait largement ses 5 étoiles.|Hôtel donnant sur une rue calme, la chambre est un cocon où on s’y sent bien.|Merci aussi au gardien de nuit pour sa gentillesse.|Je conseil vivement cet hôtel si vous passez par Amboise.|Un grand MERCI !!!

We LOVED our entire experience at this hotel. The staff were warm and welcoming. The room was LOVELY, charming and clean. Great amenities. Adorable building and courtyard. We had a view of the Amboise chateau from our suite. We will be back!

Beautiful hotel and a stunning location. The room was quiet and lovely. the young woman who checked us in was very warm and helpful. We had originally booked two nights the following week. A dear friend died suddenly and we needed to change our plans, so cancelled those nights with no problem, instead staying for one night a week earlier in order to be home in time for the memorial service. When we checked in the young woman told us we had booked two rooms for tonight. Clearly my error, in my stressed out state over my friend's passing and changing of plans, and clearly we would pay for both rooms. The next morning, after a lovely start to our much needed holiday and a restful sleep, I went to the front desk to ask if it was still possible to purchase breakfast. The woman working this morning started screaming at me hysterically. It was MY fault two rooms were booked and I would need to pay for them. I agreed, and said I'm not questioning that, it was my fault and we would of course pay. She wouldn't stop screaming at me. She said another couple wanted the room and it was MY fault they didn't get it. She went on and on screaming at me for ten minutes. It was quite shocking. I went back to the room to pack and then we walked to the car park, which was locked and required a key fob from the front desk. We could't get out without it so we were in the midst of driving out and then driving around the corner to drop of fthe fob and room key and settle the bill. She came running after us, screaming, that we needed to pay first, that she thought we were going to skip out on the bill. They had my credit card info and we had made no indication we wouldn't pay. We travel a great deal, all over the world, and make every effort not to be ugly Americans. I understand cultural differences but this was over the top. A horrible and shocking start to our vacation. Also sad because we LOVED the place and would have liked to return with our family.

Nous avons séjourné en famille avec un petit bébé de 3mois dans ce charmant hotel. Nous étions très satisfaits, tant sur la qualité des lits, nous avons dormis comme des bébés mais également la qualité du service. Les propriétaires étaient au petit soin avec nous et surtout avec notre grande fille de 6ans. Elle a pas arrêté de dire que la dame etait très gentille haha. Merci encore pour ces quelques jours de calme et repos. Mention spéciale pour la décoration, nous nous sommes sentis dans un château. C'est certain, nous y retournerons.

Par quoi commencer?
En passant la grande porte en bois vous commencez à vous émerveiller...prenrz un peu de temps pour faire la rencontre du couple maître des lieux et laissez vous porter... parlez de voyage et vous verrez...( un récit plein de magie vous sera peut-etre conté, et vous irez peut être jusqu en plein désert ou à vegas...:-))
Traversez le jardin et succombez devant le calme et savourez l ecrin de verdure qui jouxte la piscine...
Rêvez dans la magnifique suite côté jardin et enfilez un peignoir avant de vous abandonner dans le spa ou le sauna...
Plongez dans un sommeil réparateur dans le confort de votre grand lit qui vous bercera et le lendemain, fondez devant la gentillesse de la maîtresse de maison qui vous comblera d un petit déjeuner magique tant il est équilibré et riche de produits frais... vous hésitez encore? Vous avez raison... ..laissez nous votre place, car nous avons trouvé notre bulle pour nous ressourcer! Merci pour cette parenthèse delicieuse! Et merci de votre gentillesse à notre égard. Cet hôtel, dont les agréables propriétaires sont présents au quotidien, permet une pause régénérante au cœur de la ville d'Amboise. Les chambres sont magnifiques, la piscine est propre et à bonne température, le parking est sécurisé, le service est de premier ordre.

Diese von den Eigentümern geführte Hotel ist ein Bijou. Von aussen unauffällig, innen sehr schön. Wir hatten ein grosses, modernes und ruhiges Zimmer mit Blick in den Garten. Die Nasszelle ist top modern, die Betten sehr bequem. Im Garten hat es einen kleinen Pool, der bei schönem Wetter zum Baden einlädt. Das Frühstück wird mit viel Hingabe zubereitet und ist sehr gut. Der Service ist sehr persönlich und gut. Unbedingt einen Parkplatz vorreservieren. Wir können dieses Hotel sehr empfehlen.

Excellent séjour à l'hôtel, un accueil exceptionnel et personnalisé dans un très joli décor. Les propriétaires sont aux petits soins. Le petit déjeuner est copieux avec du vrai jus d'orange presse, ce qui est de plus en plus rare. Autant vous dire que nous reviendrons à coup sûr. Merci.

Tout était parfait: nous avons été accueillis par les propriétaires, des gens charmants, très à l'écoute et qui nous ont donné de très bons conseils concernant les visites, les restaurants...Chambre très confortable, spacieuse, dotée de tout le nécessaire et hygiène irréprochable. L'hôtel est admirablement bien situé avec une décoration raffinée. Petit-déjeuner copieux servi dans une salle donnant sur les jardins. Sans oublier la piscine et le garage sécurisé. C'est un hôtel que nous vous recommandons, une cotation de 10/10 est amplement méritée, nous y retournerons.

We had an extremely unpleasant experience with a hotel, Au Charme Rabalaisien, in Amboise, Loire Valley in 2017. At that time I posted an online review and then more or less forgot about the incident. But this week I got a message from Google telling me that now 500 people had seen the original review. They also sent me the response that the hotel management had sent in. I had never seen this and was taken aback at the lies that were in it, even claiming that I threatened to assault the hotel manager, who was around half my age. I was so incensed that I decided to notify online readers about my experience. People like that should not get away with telling lies.

We have just returned home from a wonderful trip to France. However, our trip was somewhat spoiled by a bizarre and highly unpleasant experience at a hotel in your city.
My wife and I are 77 and 75 years old respectively. We have traveled all over the world and stayed at many fine hotels. We have never been treated in a way similar to the way we were treated by the people at Au Charme Rabelaisien. I am wondering whether or not this is the first complaint you have had about them. I would not be surprised if you have had others.
We booked a room there for 4 nights - May 12-16. Au Charme Rabalesien. On the last night of our stay I went out to ask for 3 more coffee capsules, since we had more decaf but only 1 caffeinated. I went out to the front to ask for more coffee. This was at 10 PM at night. There was no one at the front desk and I did not want to disturb anyone. So I walked into the small dining area next to the reception area. This area was not closed in any way. A guy named Maximilian, who later identified himself as a partner in the hotel, came out and told me he had seen me on the closed circuit TV. I had been trespassing on private property and was guilty of stealing coffee. Also. he said that we were only entitled to a total of 3 coffees per day, but since we were leaving the next day he granted me an extra one. I asked him if he was kidding, but apparently he was quite serious. He wished me a good night in a very sarcastic manner. This is not the way one wants to spend one's last night in the Loire Valley.
When we were checking out the next morning Maximilian was at the front desk. I decided to pay him and leave without bringing the matter up again. But this was not to be. He started berating me (and my wife) again, accusing me again of terrible behavior and of stealing from them. As we were leaving he said "Just get out of here".
I tried to explain to him that the single coffee capsule I had in my hand was one I had taken from our room to make sure that I got a similar one.
I had felt all along that this hotel was a mistake, not a serious one but not a place I would book again given the choice. But my encounter with this twit really soured our experience here.
The next night, when we were staying at CDG for our flight the next morning - this part is really incredible - I got a long email from a lawyer, more or less threatening me not to write anything bad about the hotel online or give them bad reviews. The letter was quite long and off-the-wall. It actually threatened me with 3 years in jail for theft. I wanted to reproduce the letter here but there is not enough space.
I would also add that in my opinion this hotel does not have the trappings of a 4-star hotel. The room was slightly shabby, there were cobwebs in a lamp, the toilet bowl was not real clean, the soap provided was tiny and the towels were small. The floors were bare and hard. Worst of all there was a TV set mounted on the wall that we hit our heads on because it was tight against the bed and hard to avoid. All in all, a nice 3-star hotel, but not a luxury hotel at 200 Euros a night.
I would not have mentioned my opinion of the hotel itself if not for the outrageous behavior of this Maximilian person and his lawyer.

Commençons par les points positifs : Au Charme Rabelaisien est un bel hôtel de charme ancien avec de belles et grandes chambres, il est idéalement situé dans le centre ville mais reste calme et vous disposez d'une place de parking sur place. Le petit déjeuner est également bon comparé au petit déjeuner français habituel dans d'autres hôtels. Ce qui a gâché notre séjour, c'est le fait que le chauffage de la salle de bain ne fonctionnait pas et il n'est pas agréable de prendre une douche dans une pièce froide avec des températures de novembre à l'extérieur. Lorsque j'ai informé la réception, on m'a répondu le premier jour que nous ne savions tout simplement pas comment allumer le chauffage. Le deuxième jour, ils ont réalisé qu'il était vraiment en panne et tout ce que j'ai obtenu, c'est "heureusement qu'il ne fait pas si froid ces jours-ci, alors laissez la porte de la salle de bain ouverte et la pièce se réchauffera avec la température de la chambre". Seulement, dans la chambre, le chauffage fonctionnait aussi très mal bien que nous l'ayons allumé à fond... |La deuxième chose dont il faut se méfier est le sauna : vous payez 35 euros pour une heure, ce qui vous donne un accès individuel au sauna et au jacuzzi dans une pièce minuscule. Il y a une douche mais aucune possibilité de se détendre sur un lit, tout ce que vous avez c'est une table avec deux chaises séparées par une porte de la salle de petit déjeuner. Je n'aurais pas pris la peine d'écrire ce commentaire si, au moment du départ, nous avions eu une excuse, un simple "Nous sommes désolés pour le désagrément causé par le chauffage" aurait suffi. Mais rien n'est venu bien que j'aie mentionné le problème une fois de plus, c'est décevant. |

Merveilleux séjour de 2 nuits lors de l'Eurovelo 6. Accueil chaleureux, propreté impeccable. Bienveillant envers les cyclistes. A recommander absolument.

J'ai passé 3 nuits ici en septembre. Il fait très chaud et nous sommes très heureux d'avoir un bon climatiseur dans la chambre. L'hôtel est situé à 6 minutes à pied des châteaux et des bistrots, donc dans un quartier très calme avec une piscine et un parking.

Charmant hôtel de charme - environ 10 chambres - à Amboise, dans la vallée de la Loire. Un point de départ idéal pour visiter la vallée. Très bien situé, à trois pâtés de maisons du centre ville. Les chambres sont de taille décente, avec un lit King, un bureau et un très joli coin salon. Joli mélange de meubles anciens et modernes. Les salles de bains sont neuves et de belle taille, avec une grande douche et une baignoire. Nous avions une chambre au troisième étage, à l'arrière de l'hôtel, avec vue sur le jardin et la piscine et sur le Château Royal d'Amboise. Un merveilleux petit déjeuner buffet est servi à 17,50 euros par personne, mais vous pouvez facilement vous rendre en ville et manger dans l'un des merveilleux cafés qui ouvrent généralement vers 9h00. Sylvie, la directrice, a été merveilleuse et a répondu à tous nos besoins. Si vous venez avec votre propre voiture, le stationnement est un peu difficile. Il y a des parkings publics et des places dans toute la ville, mais vous devez trouver une place par vous-même. Il n'y a pas de véritable parking hors rue pour l'hôtel lui-même. Nous avons passé cinq jours à l'hôtel et nous y reviendrons. Certaines chambres sont un peu plus petites. Lorsque vous réservez, demandez la taille de la chambre. Les prix sont adaptés.

Charmant petit hôtel indépendant de 10 chambres ou nous avons passé 2 nuits tres agreables. ||Outre le charme de l'hôtel en général et de la chambre (pour nous c'était la chambre "bleu canard"), nous avons apprécié la climatisation, la charmante petite piscine, l'emplacement de l'hotel a 5mn du chateau et le fait que l'hotel ait un parking.||Le personnel a été très attentionné que ce soit lors du petit déjeuner ou pour nous conseiller des restaurants en cette période chargée. ||Bref je conseille cet hôtel pour un séjour à Amboise.
