Warning: they can only take one person to the airport in their shuttle so you will either need to leave behind the people you have traveled with.
This really wasn't a huge deal at all or made an impact on my experience but it was quite a shock to hear that. But it was fine, not really a big deal and it should not be a big deal if you want to book with them.

Service was super fast and extremely easy. They rent out these wifi boxes for $100 and it was worth every cent I paid. Completely a life saver. Only problem was the charger it came with didn't work- but thankfully I had a charger like that I brought by mistake. It died fast so we just kept it plugged in 24/7.

The car was amazing and great. Best car we could have gotten for this trip.

Disgusting scammers! They claimed for sand damage all over (!) the bodywork. I have no evidence of where I could have entered a "vortex" of sand during a family holiday with children and drive along the A1 road only, I consider the complaint to pretend money to redo the already precarious painting. In fact, the car was delivered with scratches on all sides and even with the left front bumper smashed. Upon returning the car, the employee immediately began an intense search, equipped with a detergent sprayer and cloth, for any bodywork defects, followed by a complete wash of the car, leaving us waiting. Curiously, the damage due to sand was the only one that I had left uncovered by their specific insurance companies, given that at the pickup the renter had "pushed" for the purchase of their "gravel" coverage, for which I paid 95 Euros, even though I had shown to already a full 3rd-party coverage.
The damage honestly cannot be assessed by my eye, i.e. a paint that would no longer be uniform due to contact with sand. I don't know what impact this "damage" will have on their future rentals, certainly not an aesthetic issue given that the car was already delivered with abundant scratches (or potential asymmetries in driving in the event of strong side winds given that the car was delivered already with the side bumper smashed).
The renter demanded immediate payment of 400,000 ISK and threatened not to take us to the airport. Since time was tight to take the flight, I paid 150000 ISK. After 2 weeks, back home, I have had the despicable surprise f additional 400000 ISK charged on my card. Robbers!

We rented an older Dacia Duster from Icerental 4x4, which served us well on our tour of Iceland. One of the tires on our vehicle lost air due to a leaky valve stem, but we were able to get it repaired quickly. Upon informing the company of this repair they promptly offered to refund me the cost of the repair, as this was clearly not an issue caused by our use of the vehicle. I would highly recommend using Icerental 4x4 for your car rental if traveling to Iceland. Shuttle service to and from the airport was quick and easy, and customer service was excellent.

Freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal, absolut kundenorientiert, super Shuttle Service vom/zum Flughafen, unser Fahrzeug Dacia Duster hatte zwar eine relativ hohe Kilometerleistung, war aber ansonsten in einem ordentlichen Zustand und funktionierte tadellos.
Uneingeschränkte Empfehlung für dieses Team Icerental 4x4.

Die Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und haben alles bestens erklärt und abgewickelt. Die Abholung am Flughafen verlief leider nicht so wie geplant. Wir mussten mehrfach anrufen um nach dem Shuttlebus zu fragen. Dieser war beim zweiten Anruf schon da, allerdings ohne jegliche Erkennungshilfe wie z.B. ein Schild Icerental 4x4 / Aurumcars / Northern Lights (alle 3 Firmen sind in den Bestellunterlagen aufgetaucht) in der Windschutzscheibe oder noch besser als Schriftzug auf dem Fahrzeug. Das Auto hat einwandfrei funktioniert, war aber nicht mehr im besten Zustand. Alle Dellen, Kratzer usw. waren jedoch sauber dokumentiert.

Good experience renting from Icerental. The shuttle from the airport to the facility is ~10 minutes, and the staff was helpful and considerate (including providing tips on handling the vehicle in the aggressive high winds). Would rent from here again.

We’ve had an excellent experience with Icerental 4x4. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Car was in great shape, everything worked perfectly, we did a ring road trip without any problems. Definitely would recommend!

A very good experience renting a car with this company. The car took us around the whole ring road and there were no issues. The check in and drop off process was very smooth, and all of the employees are friendly. David was especially helpful during the renting process. I recommend renting from this company if you need a car when visiting Iceland.

The most inexpensive version in Iceland to rent a car, but all three cars I have had so far were all pretty beaten up and older models. The worst was the Dacia Duster. However, I never had problems returning the cars, even when completely mud covered. That’s why I keep coming back.

Super Autovermietung. Klasse Preis -Leistungsverhältnis. Das Auto war einfach mega(besser als wir gebucht hatten) und alle dort sehr sehr freundlich. Der Shuttle war pünktlich und zuverlässig! Kann Icerental 4x4 uneingeschränkt empfehlen und würde jederzeit wieder ein Auto dort mieten.

Nous avons loué un duster Dacia pour notre trip en Islande.J'avais choisi un ancien modèle volontairement pour éviter que l'agence nous reproche des dégradations.Nous avons été servis: duster 367000 compteur, bien abîmé à peu près partout.Mais il nous a accompagné tout le séjour sans problème (2160 kms parcourus) Au retour pas de difficulté pas de mauvaise surprise.
Attention l'agence n'est pas dans l aéroport et ils ne prennent que deux passagers, nous avons laissé nos grands enfants à l aéroport le temps d aller chercher la voiture.Retour idem.

Wir haben uns einen Leihwagen für 9 Tage geliehen für insgesamt 710 Euro ( inkl. Platinum - Versicherung).
Am Flughafen mussten wir 15 Min. warten,bis der Shuttleservice uns abgeholt hat.
Als Fahrzeug wurde uns ein Dacia Duster 4x4 mit 370.000 km zur Verfügung gestellt,welcher alters - bzw.kilometerbedingt einige Mängel aufwies ( diverse Beulen,zig Steinschläge,Rost,Start Stop Automatik nicht funktionsfähig, Innenraum verlebt,etc.).
Als Autofahrer aus Deutschland hat man ggf.einen anderen Anspruch an Fahrzeuge,sodass wir bei der Abholung die Mängel entsprechend dokumentiert haben, sodass bei der Rückgabe keine Diskussionen aufkommen.
In den 9 Tagen erwies sich das Fahrzeug aber als praktischer Begleiter, der Verbrauch lag bei ca.8 Litern Benzin im Eco Modus und oft sehr starkem Wind.
Die Rückgabe hat unkompliziert funktioniert,nach kurzer Begutachtung des Fahrzeuges durch den Vermieter wurden wir zum Hotel gefahren.
Der Service war gut,das Auto für den ausgewiesenen Preis aber unserer Meinung nach etwas über den Zenit hinaus.
Glücklicherweise gab es bei der Rückgabe aber keine Diskussionen über diverse Mängel am Fahrzeug,die bei der Laufleistung normal sind ( gerade bei den Witterungen in Island ).

Ich empfehle weiter, wir haben Hyundai I 10 gemietet, alles war fertig in 5 Minuten. Mit dem Auto haben wir keine Probleme gehabt, wir haben 1600KM für 6 Tage gemacht. Alles war super.

We had a great experience with the company

We have rented a car with Icerental 4x4 in February 2023 for 5 days. At the airport it was not very clear where to go for the pick up and transfer to the office. So we had to run a couple of rounds in the parking area before we could identify the transfer driver. Only the driver could be taken to the office, the passengers had to stay at the airport and wait for the driver to pick up the car and return to the airport to pick up the passengers. I was a bit shocked that the car was really old and shabby, with minor and major scratches and bumps. But for the little money we have rented it no reason to complain. The paperwork at the office went quick and smooth. We have got instructions where the rental cars are absolutely forbidden and how to check if the roads are passable, as weather condition could change quite suddenly. We have driven not that much as the weather was partly quite horrible. But we still could visit some great places and get the feeling of the winter in Iceland.
On return to the rental office - all went well, no requests or new damage claims to the car.
If you are on budget and are looking for a cheap car, Icerental 4x4 is a good option.
