The Maison Dieu, Dover's oldest Town Hall building, was founded in 1203 by Hubert de Burgh, Constable of Dover Castle. Originally intended to provide lodging for pilgrims and care for soldiers, it has since served as a military store, Council Chamber, concert hall, and more. The building houses a collection of arms, armor, paintings, and the famous Zeebrugge Bell. Ongoing restoration work, known as the Reawakening of The Maison Dieu, will preserve its unique features and offer visitors a chance to appreciate its rich history.
