MARHABA TO THOUSAND NIGHTS
The Story of Thousand Nights Camp
There are footsteps in these dunes of a nomad wanderer and writer named Abdullah Akhdar. His father, Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Harthi, was a poet. His youth was culturally rich, as he explored the adjacent dunes of the desert with his father's horses in the village of Mudhairib. It was here that he fell in love with the dazzling sands, watched the dunes dance and listen to the wind sing.
This passion for the golden dunes lasted with him throughout the years, even when life led him away from its hypnotic colours. Living in the hustle and bustle of the city, he ached for the serenity of nature, for a location where nature sang its lovely melodious melody beneath an orchestra of stars, where his senses would return in a magnitude of amazement.
He awoke one day from a dream that had planted a seed in his heart. The next morning, he packed his belongings and left the noisy, concrete metropolis to seek the location of his fantasies.
He knew the place he had imagined must exist somewhere. He could feel it in his heart. He was certain that when he discovered it, he would recognize it.
The journey had been long. He looked for many nights, travelling to far regions and across the wide expanses of the eastern desert, never remaining in one area for more than one night. He slept beneath the sky and above the soft sand, never putting a mat between himself and the earth because he wanted to hear what it had to say. He paid close attention to the wind and bird melodies, gathering stories from the grains of sand, and his spirit began to feel whole again.
This Journey was long but fruitful, After travelling for 1000 Nights we found the oasis that he was searching for.
Since 2001, Thousand Nights Camp has opened its doors to travellers to share with them the story of the sand, the music of the wind and the dance of the dunes along with serenity and cultural vibe of Oman.
