HEAVEN ON EARTH IS NOT ENOUGH TO DESCRIBE THIS PLACE! There are places where you know from the minute you walked in that your biggest mistake was not booking MORE time and that leaving will be the hardest. Oh my gosh! Can you ask for a place being more of a gem and hosts lovelier than Lynley and Mike? I guess not. It's a place where you can arrive as guests and leave as friends. Where mind and body truly can soothe and find peace. We hope to make it back and stay longer next time, but even those few days will joyfully ring in our hearts and stories for years to come. Thank you so so much!

I could easily write a whole essay about our eight night stay but actually it needs just one word to describe it: Heavenly!

Had a really relaxing time and kids enjoyed their play with Tui. Helpful and friendly hosts, nice kitchen, fantastic mussel night and the best pizza i had.

If there is anywhere in the South Island you visit, make it Hopewell Lodge and I promise you will not be disappointed!!!
There is truely something magical about this place, the views, the serenity, the people and hosts like you’ve never known hosts before. Mike and Lynley are the definition of superhosts, they are the kindest, caring and most accomodating hosts you will find in the South Island, if not all of NZ. The paradise they have created is simply amazing and will have you never wanting to leave. Don’t wait! Book now for the most magical stay in the beautiful Kenepuru Sounds.

We were 1 of 4 couples to share 4 great days in wonderful Hopewell Lodge. Lynley was a superb host and , with her staff Marion and Maxine, made sure we enjoyed a really great time. Host David had to be away for most of our visit but made us delicious biscuits before he left. It was so easy being able to use the kayaks, row boat, hot tub etc and meal preparation in the well appointed kitchen was a breeze. Lynley made it easy for us to access golf, croquet and massages and there are wonderful walks to be made from Hopewell Lodge. The water taxi made access affordable and prompt. It was a privilege to have been at Hopewell Lodge.

Somptueux !!!
Si vous cherchez le calme du bout du monde, c'est l'endroit idéal. Les accomodations sont top. Mike et Lynley sont des hôtes très chaleureux et agréables.
Il n'y a pas de restauration, donc prévoir la nourriture en conséquence. La cuisine est très spacieuse et bien équipée.
Plutôt que prendre votre véhicule jusqu'à Hopewell Lodge prenez un water taxi depuis Havelock !!! C'est moins crevant et beaucoup plus agréable. Vous pouvez laisser sans soucis votre véhicule à la Marina d'Havelock.
A must be place !!!!

We(4 of us) stayed only one night last weekend and It was amazing!! Not just how well maintenance and clean but there is kayak, small boat, bike, paddle boat to rent. Spa with ocean view is another great point. You never gets bored. The kitchen equipments and basic seasoning was all there too. ( Probably better set up than my home haha)
We will definitely be back for sure. Highly recommend!

Such a wonderful stay we had with the most incredible hosts that are extremely helpful. A piece of paradise here with the feeling of a little slice of Greece. The accomodation was just perfect along with all the extras, kayaks, row boats, bikes, oysters & clams on the beach and then the pizzas and mussels for dinner. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you so much for your amazing care from the moment we rang.

What an absolutely lovely place. We really enjoyed the location, the hospitality of Lynley and Mike, the great pizzas and the hot tub which is open 24/7 and absolutely stunning for stargazing. There are also a few glow worms nearby. At the moment it is best to drive to Havelock and take the water taxi from there but Hopewell is happy to assist you with that. They also have a great starlink internet.

Hopewell Lodge is just a wonderful hidden gem in the Sounds. It's easy to access by water taxi or their own boat, and is an easy, beautiful scenic cruise to the lodge. All of the amenities are fabulous, and the room and facilities were very clean and comfortable. You couldn't ask for better hosts than Mike and Lynley- they are the amazing and we already can't wait to go back!
