We were warmly welcomed , the hospitality was exceptional.
We absolutely love Provence, and the Luberon holds a special place in our hearts. This visit only confirmed it once again !
However at La Bastide de Gordes
Airelles hotels All other accolades are pale in comparison to the pleasant smiling faced stars , in the doorways , the hallways , behind the concierge desk reception desk, the restaurants , who are willing to pander to your every small whim , every desire and every need of their guests.
Although more often than not the guests entering the revolving doors of this La Bastide de Gordes Arielle's hotels are nobilities and celebrities who are familiar with feeling special but the personal At the abode on the hills of Gordes make even a common man like myself feel very special till they see their rooms.
It would be unfair not to mention a few exceptional individuals I met at the La Bastide de Gordes Airelles hotels .
The slim ,slender and sweet Genral manager Angela Kreuz was omnipresent and very omniscient. Elio Parente a Napoletano with perennial smile was very sincere in service and helpful in every possible way. He very willingly bend over his back to make sure there is not a furrow in your brow.
The dinning room management staff had excellence seethed in their manners and actions. The servers who is light on their feet and generous with smiles were quick in their service.
Having said all that praise of people I would still never ever come back to this hotel nor would I recommend it to any body at my Finacial and social station.
I can irrevocably state that my recommendation is that any one whose budget for a room is less than $5000 per night should never book in this hotel. If you desire to stay there despite reading my review you will find your stay at La Bastide de Gordes Airelles hotel an extremely humbling experience. You will feel like a serf to a serf in your room at the palace.
I was devastatingly disappointed at the rooms. I had booked two rooms at around 3000 euro’s per night per room . It would not at all be an exaggeration to state that the rooms were so small that one could not even turn around without hitting the walls. One had a toilet where even a very petite girl could hardly fit in the shower the other toilet had no toilet, I had to call reception who came and showed me the toilet is in the closet. The toilet had no sink so you have to open the closet and then go to the washroom to wash hands.
I doubt if any body other than the Madagascar and Malaysian maids, ever stayed in these rooms and those innocent souls have in their lexicon no words of complaints and thus no complaints.
This is not a palace for a working king but a Joséphe Jeanne Marie Antoinette whose dictionary lacks the word “budget”.
From the start, communication was flawless. José provided outstanding assistance in the weeks leading up to our stay, helping to organize everything from a wine tour, to a hot air balloon ride over the lavender fields, to restaurant reservations, and much more. His responsiveness and attention to detail made planning effortless.
Upon arrival, we were not disappointed—our room exceeded expectations in every way. One of the most delightful surprises was the thoughtful nightly turndown service. Rather than the typical chocolates or cookies, we were gifted unique, memorable keepsakes that will always remind us of this special stay.
The twice-daily housekeeping service was flawless, and the entire staff—from the front desk to every team member we encountered—was consistently warm, professional, and attentive. It’s no surprise, as we had the pleasure of meeting Angela Kruez, the hotel’s director, on several occasions. Her friendly, approachable manner sets the tone for the entire team, and it’s clear her leadership is reflected throughout the property.
As far as the food, breakfast each morning was simply outstanding—both the quality of the food and the impeccable service were five-star.
For our final dinner tonight, we decided to try the new restaurant, Beefbar—and it did not disappoint! We started with the Smashed Burgers, which were outstanding, followed by perfectly cooked Beef Tenderloin served with their signature sauce and fries—absolutely delicious. To finish, we shared a unique ice cream sundae with an impressive selection of toppings that made for a fun and memorable dessert. If you’re staying at the hotel or in the area, Beefbar is a must-visit!
We also dined at the hotel’s Italian restaurant, La Bastide de Pierres, where we enjoyed an excellent salad and pizza. Another evening, we had cocktails and sushi at Le Tigre, also located at the hotel, which did not disappoint.
If you have the chance to enjoy the pool you will probably run into Tom - one of the hardest working pool attendants I have met. Also if you have lunch by the pool, don’t pass up the Club Sandwich—it’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had.
Today, we also had the opportunity to experience the hotel’s outstanding spa. From the moment we arrived, Annabel at the reception desk greeted us with warmth and professionalism, setting the perfect tone. The treatments themselves were exceptional—Valentine delivered one of the best deep tissue massages I’ve ever had, and my wife thoroughly enjoyed both her relaxing massage and rejuvenating facial with Melissa. Each therapist was not only highly skilled but also made the entire experience feel personalized and luxurious.
La Bastide de Gordes is truly something special, and we are already looking forward to returning on our next trip to Provence!
The hotel itself is right in the town of Gordes and has unbelievable views. It is gorgeous from top to bottom. The minute you step foot out of the van you get greeted and taken care of like you are royalty. Once you are checked in, the receptionist will show you around the hotel so you wont just be wondering where everything is like a clueless puppy.
The outdoor adult pool is next to none. The pictures don’t do it justice. It is perfect in every way. They have 3 pools on the property. An adult pool, children’s pool, and an indoor pool.
The spa was also amazing. We had a credit from our travel agency so we took full use of it.
The rooms are well appointed although a little small (expected in Europe boutique hotels). The food when phenomenal and again the views. From breakfast, lunch and dinner we didn’t have one bad meal. Sitting outside for a quick drink before dinner or just because you will be stunned with just how peaceful it is.
We took a half day wine/vineyard tour in an old buggy. The tour guide was so nice and knowledgeable in every way. He took us to 3 different vineyards that were completely different. One of the vineyards was owned by Ridley Scott (Director of multiple famous movies. Black hawk down, the Martian, Gladiator, Alien). Scott also had all the suits they used in the movies. Our tour guide took us to the Lavender fields (A must stop). If you are looking for something fun to do you need to ask for our tour guide.
On our last day they basically shut the square down for a market. They had everything from cheese, meat, clothing, artwork and more. It was extremely nice.
Again, Gordes wasn’t my original plan for a stop, but i am so glad we did. I would come back just for the hotel.
Nous avons également pu goûter un très bon rosé pétillant sans alcool, quelle belle surprise !
Petite suggestion.... Un peu musique en live serait la cerise sur le gâteau
Food was delicious. We had the Sunday brunch and it was a beautiful display of
Salads, seafood , meats and of course the deserts were off the charts!!!!
Très bon accueil . Très belle vue
Man fühlt sich ins letzte Jahrhundert versetzt aber mit jedem erdenklichen schönen Dingen von unserer Zeit!
