The restored refectory of the former Cistercian Abbey is quite well hidden down a quiet side street, but a beautiful and tranquil place which is well worth seeking out when in the neighbourhood. While the complex is now a conference and training centre, you can walk freely around this magnificent medieval hall during opening hours. If you understand French, it is well worth taking the tour which is offered at 4pm three times each week, which gives a detailed history of the complex over the centuries, and takes you down into the crypt rooms and up into the attic lecture theatres. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Magnífica restauración de un convento del siglo XIV, que se llevó incluso un premio europeo.
Se puede entrar gratuitamente a la nave principal y la sacristía todos los días de 10 a 18.
También hay tres visitas comentadas semanales para las que conviene inscribirse previamente, que duran hora y media y que, aparte de contar los detalles de la historia del edificio, permiten acceder al sótano y el tejado.

Le collège des Bernardins est un lieu chargé d'histoire, qui après 10 ans de travaux et 50 millions d'euros d'investissement, nous offre un cadre exceptionnel, qui vaut le détour.

Booked a guided tour on a Friday. The guide, former architect, was great. We had an excellent explanation about its building history in the 14th century and renovation in the 21st. Impressive as its underground was a derivated water. Beautiful building that hosts a variety of courses, events (private also) and expositions. They kept the original high wall outside in the (small) garden that kept the monks in. There used to be a church outside too that was put down when boulevard St Germain nearby was created. Highly recommended ????

Presque rien à voir, visiter. Juste rez de chaussée. Pas propre, beaucoup de tables et chaises vides. Librairie fermé les samedis.

Le coin restauration est agréable mais il ne faut pas s'attendre à une grande gadtronomie. On peut faire un déjeuner rapide pour 13e plat dessert et entrée plat dessert pour 17e. Sans boisson.

Puis la visite de la batisse accompagnée d'un guide est recommandé pour bien comprendre l'histoire de ce lieux historique.

J ai fait 180km AR ce matin pour voir l exposition mais voilà il y avait un séminaire, c était fermé au public et rien n est écrit sur le site pour éviter ce genre de désagrément. C est dommage car j avais beaucoup apprécié les commentaires des deux conservatrices du patrimoine sur Le Scribe Accroupi. Elles m avaient donné envie de découvrir l exposition.

What an interesting place! It is down an alley/street just off Rue des Ecole and is big!. Not small. Clearly the place of some import. So we popped in and popped out again an hour later. Calming, reflective, philosophically engaging. We wondered around and wondered out aloud. To be responded to by happy helpers willing to inform and enlighten. Read their website to learn more. But if you like very super architecture buried in the depths of the Rive Gauche, want to touch your inner-being, then this is the place for you.
