My bed is comfortable and I have had a good night's sleep. The amenities, service and breakfast are excellent. The location is amazing: Notre Dame is just over the road. Panthéon a short walk and tomorrow I'll be walking along the river bank to musée D'Orsay, just 30 minutes à pied. There are many restaurants close by to choose from.
Their restaurant is too dark and small. Bar and restaurant close at 8 pm. Try their tea time selection.
Room: is so small! There was a curtain instead of a door to separate the bathroom from the room! The air conditioning does not cool down. No place to have your luggage!
Service outstanding
The rooms are beautifully designed with individual artistic themes. They’re smaller based on North American standards, but definitely not as compact as rooms in Japan. We were asked if we wanted to upgrade but I preferred the one I chose with the partial view of the Notre Dame. Anyway, the room's charm and attention to detail more than made up for its size. If you prefer cozy, charming and quaint, you'd love it.
Breakfast is top notch in their lovely cafe. Didn't have to go to a boulangerie to gouge on croissant and pain au chocolat. They're better than anything I've ever had back home in Toronto.
And the location's unbeatable. A few steps outside, and you’re surrounded by cafés, brasseries, patisseries, shops for books, toys, souvenirs, Asian restos, and a whole lot more, all within a few minutes’ walk. We even got to buy mangas in French. Notre-Dame is just around the corner, you can even see it from the hotel and, in our case, from our room. Other spots like the Seine, Sainte-Chapelle, the Conciergerie, Shakespeare and Company, and the Louvre (stretch that walk a little) are all nearby. And if you want to venture farther, the train station is close, making it easy to get anywhere. Even Versailles is just literally one train ride away, no transfers needed.
The little surprise they provided on our first night was the cherry on top of an already amazing experience. Honestly I can’t think of a single negative thing to say. Perhaps the weather? It rained when we arrived and they even had to say sorry for the weather as if it was their fault.
We’d love to come back!
Positives:
• Staff and Service: Exceptional. The staff were consistently courteous, always smiling, and eager to assist. I’d rate them 5/5 for their professionalism and service.
• Breakfast: A hassle-free experience, with ample time (7:00–10:30 am) to enjoy the offerings. The croissants, in particular, were delightful.
Areas for Improvement:
While I understand that space is generally limited in Paris, paying €400-500 per night for a 5-star hotel sets certain expectations. The lack of sufficient space around the bed to comfortably walk was disappointing. Although it’s unfair to compare Parisian hotels directly to U.S. standards, better space management should be expected at this price point.
Issues Encountered:
1. Temperature Control: The thermostat frequently malfunctioned, requiring frequent resets to stabilize the room temperature.
2. Lighting: The floor lamp had a complicated mechanism, and for five out of six nights, it didn’t work, leaving us without adequate lighting.
3. Corridors and Elevators: Both were exceptionally narrow and small, which felt quite cramped.
4. Tourist Tax: A €21/night tourist tax was added, which was not disclosed upfront in the Costco package. While this is not entirely the hotel’s fault, it left a sour taste. I plan to follow up with Costco about this oversight, but it’s worth noting that such charges seem excessive and reflect poorly on Paris as a destination.
Overall Impression:
This hotel, while advertised as 5-star, felt more like a 3-star experience due to the issues mentioned above. Although the staff and service were exceptional, the space constraints and functional problems detract from the overall value for money. I would not rate it higher than 3/5 stars.
Muchas gracias.
Merci!

We really enjoyed out stay at Colbert Hotel, you made it especially memorable. Your kindness and thoughtfulness is remarkable. My birthday couldn’t be any better. We loved Paris!
Throughout our stay, the customer service we received from concierge was exemplary and I would like to mention Maria, Nicolas and Montse in particular who made great efforts to ensure our experience was unforgettable and couldn’t do enough for us - they are truly a credit to the establishment.
