The staff was truly outstanding – friendly, professional, and always ready to help, both at the reception and in the restaurant. The hotel is quiet, ideal for resting after a day of exploring Paris. The bed was very comfortable, and we had a restful sleep.
Access to public transport is very convenient: the metro is just a 5–6 minute walk away, and the bus stop is right nearby.
I wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Moderniste and will definitely return!
Metro a 5 minuti a piedi.
Meglio di così non poteva andare.
We really appreciated the area itself as it allowed us to learn a new part of Paris away from the tourist areas and yet well connected with the Metro at Convention and at Boucicaut. There are many restaurants in the area with fairer prices and a huge Monoprix if you need to do any shopping.
There are also some very nice parks in the area such as Parc George Brassens or a walk along the Petit Ceinture (a disused railway line) to Parc Citroen. These are really great green spaces with plenty to see - also very popular with joggers!
It’s situated in a quieter residential area, away from the typical tourist spots – so it’s not noisy at night.
However, it has excellent transport connections. You can get to the Eiffel Tower quickly, and buses & trains in all directions stop right outside the door (the metro is about a 5-minute walk away).
The hotel is surrounded by romantic restaurants that sparkle beautifully in the evenings. There are also plenty of shops nearby. A small park is located on the next street.
The rooms were super clean!
Beds are made fresh every day, and all towels and toiletries are replaced (if room service is requested).
There’s a minibar, but it only contains complimentary water, and it’s not chilled. Additionally, there’s free tea and instant coffee in the rooms.
The rooms are adequately furnished. There’s an open wardrobe that’s enough for two people, although a few more hangers would be nice.
The bed was great, and so was the bathroom! There’s also a small desk.
We especially loved the balcony with its wonderful view of the Parisian buildings. From the window on the 7th floor, you can even see the Eiffel Tower and the rooftops of Paris. There’s a window in the hallway that’s accessible to all guests.
There’s air conditioning. The rooms are small – we stayed for 7 days, and it was perfectly fine for the two of us. You spend most of your time out and about anyway. There’s a TV, but no Netflix or Disney+. Only French channels are available.
The service was extremely helpful, attentive, and quick.
Sometimes a bit too quick – especially at breakfast, it felt a bit hectic and stressful. The kitchen door is always open, so you occasionally hear things falling in the rush. You can hardly hear the piano music during breakfast because of the noise, which wasn’t ideal. The staff’s stress kind of rubs off on you.
There also weren’t always enough seats for all guests during breakfast. The conservatory is rather small. Sometimes we had to wait in line in the morning until a table became free. A few times we had to eat on bar stools – not a problem for us, but could be difficult for older guests.
The staff tries their best and apologizes, but this is definitely something that could be improved – especially when it comes to value for money. It is, after all, a hotel and not a budget hostel. I want to emphasize again that the staff does an excellent job given the circumstances. I believe it’s more a matter of organization.
Check-in and check-out were smooth and quick. Our Visa card wasn’t accepted by the payment terminal, so it’s better to bring cash.
Special requests or issues are taken seriously and dealt with.
We had a brief power outage in the room, but the staff responded immediately and resolved the issue quickly.
There’s good Wi-Fi, but no parking and no accessible courtyard. The balcony made up for that.
It would be great to have a small seating area or a little table on the balcony.
The breakfast itself is delicious – there’s a wide variety and freshly squeezed juices. You can have as much as you like, and everything is restocked quickly.
In the breakfast area, there’s also a selection of board games, which is great for kids.
Back to cleanliness:
The rooms and public areas are cleaned every day – and very thoroughly. But laundry carts and vacuum cleaners are left in the hallways until 2 p.m., which slightly affects the overall charm.
Overall impression:
As mentioned, there are one or two things that could be improved, but overall we were very satisfied. For Paris, it’s definitely a beautiful, modern, and affordable place – and we would definitely come back.
