The family has done a spectacular job building their vision and making it feel elegant yet welcoming. The owner's two adult children are intimately involved in the operation of the hotel and restaurant- both have great attitudes and the best English skills of anyone in the area, you can expect to interact with them regularly.
For all the perfection you will experience as a guest here, there are a couple of factors tourists, and especially Americans, should be aware of:
Several restaurants are listed on Maps and do exist, but it seemed almost impossible to get their operating hours correctly understood. One of them has a very poor reputation locally and we did get a bit sick there. Especially for lunch or afternoon cocktails there was not any place regularly open, not even a corner store- if you choose to stay in Lama for the day. We also almost missed dinner one night even at the hotel, due to pervasive confusion over reservations and availability. Thankfully the staff worked very hard to make exceptions and keep us happy!
I would highly recommend stopping at a supermarket (Spar in Ponte Lecchio being the closest) before you arrive, to make sure you have the snacks and drinks you might need. There are stocked minibars in the rooms, and it was generally possible to save some of the large and delicious breakfast for lunch too, but I would not rely on it.
In the long run I hope Case Latine can find a regular way to produce lunch and drinks throughout the day, so guests have more time to relax and enjoy their spa, pools, and natural beauty, instead of worrying about basic logistics.
Similarly it is important for tourists to understand they will NEED a car in Lama, the village is extremely steep and confusingly laid out, in the summer it is also very hot. Even the hotel uses a golf cart for shuttling guests between levels, although it is sometimes hard to find it. We loved walking around but got very sweaty doing it, and needed to use the car at times just for errands.
This was one of the best and most unique hotels I have ever enjoyed, and I recommend it to anyone. I also recommend folks be patient when they visit, and prepared to speak a little French or confidently use hand gestures. The sense of timeless and majestic relaxation you will find here, will be well worth it.
