Comfortable restaurant with enclosed porch seating overlooking Skaneatales Lake. It's part of a very charming inn dating back to the early 1800s so waiting for a table in the cozy bar or by the lobby's roaring fireplace is a pleasure. The Sherwood Inn Favorites part of the menu is the most unusual, with old-fashioned dishes like a Yankee Pot Roast and roast chicken. Lots of mashed potatoes or Tavern Rice to accompany all entrees! We enjoyed the grilled duck breast and a roast beet salad which is suited to lighter appetites. Older crowd with lots of locals and more casual vibe in the bar. Delicious berry cobbler dessert.

We met some friends there for a day trip and lunch. You can't enjoy sitting there and looking out front at the lake any more than this. Service was friendly, and excellent.

I cannot speak about the rooms, we had only gone there for dinner. The food was delicious, the atmosphere is very cozy (with views of the Skaneateles Lake), the staff were friendly and always checked as they passed through.

Gem of a place. Rooms are cute, old style architecture. The brunch buffet for Easter and mother's Day are spectacular. Highly recommend.

Another must-visit place in CNY. Always a great place for lunch, dinner, drinks at the bar, or hanging in the lobby. The food is consistently great. The wine list is delightful.
The staff is incredible. They hustle. For a memorable experience, visit The Sherwood Inn.

Our dinner was delicious. The server was attentive. The bartender didn’t want to stay open which kind of sucked, I think they closed early. Breakfast wasn’t great because they were training a new server and they didn’t have enough staff scheduled. This is my second time to the Sherwood Inn, I love going there and would go back again!! Celebrated birthdays both visits.

Very disappointed!!! Stayed here many times!! I never like to complain because I know what it’s like to have a business in this economy but I always put my customers first!
We did a small getaway at the Sherwood Inn. Stayed in Room 30. It started with our room having very moldy smell when walking in and receiving odd smells throughout the night. (Don’t stay in room 30) My wife got very sick on our stay and I wanted to shorten our stay by one day to get her back home and out of that room!
I spoke to the manager and she refused to give any money back due to my wife being sick for the last night except a dinner voucher! Why would I want a dinner voucher if my wife was throwing up? This seems like very poor management to me.

It does say in their policy that they don’t honor any refund and I would understand if every room was full but they were many rooms available on a Monday night!
And to me, I believe it’s about working with the customer and making them happy so they return. But I can say this left a VERY bad taste in our mouths about ever returning. This is sad to us because we love the town. But I guess it is all about money

The restaurant is a good choice for a nice dinner celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or the like. Everything that I ate made good use of quality ingredients, and the service was prompt and attentive.

Our stay was for a Valentine’s getaway. The lobby was furnished with classic historic furnishings and a wood burning fireplace. Our room was well appointed with a king bed, built in bookcase, reading chair and a fireplace. The finishes and decor were well done. The bathroom had a period tile floor, nice vanity with beveled subway tile walls and shower with nice hardware. We had a lovely dinner with live music and water view. In the morning, we had a delicious breakfast with fresh croissants that were to die for, crème brûlée French toast with fresh fruit and an omelette of the day, cooked to perfection. Everything was noteworthy. Highly recommend a stay to this historic inn full of charm and character as well as attention to detail and hospitality.

Dinner on the porch a few months ago. I waited at my table while 3 women of the wait staff stood 5 feet from me. Finally I asked if I should go to the bar for a glass of wine. 20 minutes again and the waitress arrived. I order a wedge salad, it was the solid white core of the lettuce and inedible. I had shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were not orange in color. They were grayish with dark red veins on them. The bread basket used to be filled with a few different, tasty breads. Now one soft, blond roll for the whole table of four. The second glass of wine arrived at the end of the meal. Please don’t anyone order the, “ tavern rice!” It is tasteless, brown slop with a few bits of carrots. What a huge embarrassment and disappointment to my guests. I’ve been dining at the Sherwood for over forty years. In the past it was an exemplary experience. Now the talk about town is that it is no longer an option. What a shame.

was 200.00 and a tipped her 50.00. It was obviously an issue with management and not the waitress.
