BROUWERIJ DE DOCHTER VAN DE KORENAAR
Noblesse, Finesse, Bravoure, Courage, Embrasse Ronald and Monique Mengerink opened this new brewery at Baarle-Hertog on the Belgian/Dutch border (north-east of Antwerp) in August 2007.Their first beer was Noblesse ("hertog" is the Dutch word for duke), and this has now been joined by an IPA version called Noblesse Extra-Ordinaire. The brewery's other beers include Finesse, Bravoure, Courage and Embrasse. Embrasse is a dark beer aged for three months in cognac and whisky barrels.According to Ronald Mengerink, the name of the brewery is inspired by King Charles V of Spain who was born in Flanders. He particularly enjoyed his beer and wrote once that he preferred the juice of the daughter of the ear of wheat (dochter van de korenaar) to the blood of the grape.
