HUAHINE VACANCES

Huahine Vacances is truly an amazing program. We stayed here for 5 weeks and could not have been happier with the island, the location, the property and, most of all, the host family.
If you want a $2000/night Four Seasons overwater bungalow on Bora Bora, then this is not for you. This is an immersive Tahitian experience. Vaimiti makes you feel welcomed as part of the family. She runs a tight ship! The property is immaculate… perfectly landscaped with very well maintained houses. The pictures do not do it justice! There is no air conditioning, but there are plenty of fans and there is usually a nice breeze. We slept very comfortably every night. Nice showers with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. It has a well equipped kitchen and the clothes washer is a bonus.
Next door is an idyllic pasture with a small herd of cows. And just across the street is the long, private dock with covered Tiki hut for having coffee, cocktails and swimming. The houses are located on a large farm with an active Vanilla plantation and coconut/fruit trees of all kinds. I cannot say enough great things about Vaimiti and her family! They are all wonderful people and truly make you feel like part of the family.
I highly recommend renting one of the on premises outboard skiffs to fully explore the lagoon. There is great snorkeling about 15 minutes away by boat, as well as a lovely beach for swimming. We had it available the entire time and used it frequently for short and longer trips. If you don’t want to operate your own boat, there are several excursion companies in town that will take you.
The neighborhood on Mahoe Bay is serene, beautiful and quiet, but just a short drive into town. The on premises car rental is very convenient (stick shift) and a must for getting around the beautiful island.
Not to make this a review of the island, but the Super U grocery store has a good selection of food, wine and spirits, and there are several roadside stands selling fresh produce and fish. There are also several very good restaurants. Our favorites were Izzy’s for lunch (great burgers!) and Métis (parrotfish ravioli!). Huahine Yacht Club is fun for Friday happy hour drinks and sunsets.
We have sailed around the Marquesas, Tuamotus and Society Islands and Huahine is by far our favorite. And Huahine Vacances is a fantastic place to stay!!
On recommande à 100% !
