TREE HOUSE
Dans un cadre luxuriant, six belles maisons atypiques et différentes. Trois maisons sont climatisées, dont la toute nouvelle construction La Crystal House. Au milieu du salon, ouvert sur la nature, vous trouverez une aire pour les barbecue, un bain à remous chauffé au feu de bois et un mini-golf. La Tree House est la maison emblématique du site avec son arbre au milieu de la salle de bain, ouverte sur l'extérieur. Elle dispose de deux chambres (et peut recevoir jusqu'à cinq personnes), et une passerelle faite de bois et de câbles permet d'accéder à la chambre du haut. A l'extérieur, un barbecue et une baignoire chauffée au feu de bois par un système de tubes, des chaises pour la plage, et un panneau solaire pour la douche. Plus loin, la Beach House est idéale pour une famille, avec la plage à 50 mètres, une salle de bain en tadelakt, un escalier de bois en colimaçon, un lit d'appoint qui se décroche, des ventilateurs (pas de climatisation) et une terrasse avec hamac. La Beach Suite, qui accueille jusqu'à six personnes, est assez délirante : Edsart, le propriétaire, à la fois artiste et amoureux de la nature s'est lâché dans la salle de bains, qui comprend un bain à remous, trois douches et des WC psychédéliques sous une sphère jaune. Elle offre en outre des espaces extérieurs à n'en plus finir, et une entrée privative avec parking. Enfin, la Garden House, option la plus économique, est aussi la plus petite du lot ; elle convient pour 4 adultes ou un couple avec deux enfants (chambres à l'étage). Devant la propriété, la plage El Almendro, longue de 300 mètres, est réservée à la clientèle. On entend le ressac depuis le sentier... Une vague y déroule en droite, l'occasion d'un petit surf exclusif pour les amateurs. Soucieux de protéger leur environnement, les propriétaires de l'établissement ont mis en place un petit parc de 2000 m² où vivent plus d'une centaine d'iguanes ; c'est un petit centre de reproduction (The Green Iguana Fundation) destiné à réhabiliter l'espèce, menacée par sa forte commercialisation au Costa Rica. Visite gratuite pour les clients mais payante pour les personnes extérieures (entrée : 15 US$). Niveau activités, rendez-vous sous le rancho avec Pamela, une adorable Argentine, pour des cours de tae bo les mardis et jeudis, de pilates les lundis et mercredis, et de yoga les lundis et vendredis ; des ateliers de bio-danse ont aussi lieu de temps en temps et le dimanche, une pièce de théâtre est jouée.

The two bathrooms both offer running water showers and toilets which was a really nice luxury after a full day covered in sand from the beach!
The entire lodge is a short walking distance to the ocean front which was really pleasant on the hot sunny days.
Edsart and Pam are the perfect hosts and we highly recommend their lodging for your next Costa Rican jungle experience!
I had made the reservation well in advance and planned to spilt our 4 days between the Tree House and the School Bus.
Unfortunately my wife broke two toes about 4 weeks before our arrival. YIKES!!!
After checking in with Sonja she showed us around the Tree House when with careful effort my wife traversed the hanging stairs to the upper bedroom and bathroom.
After learning of her situation she was fairly certain the School Bus was available for our entire stay. While we were both grateful for the thoughtfulness my wife had been anxiously awaiting staying in a Tree House. So we spent one night to cross that off her bucket list.
The Tree House was fantastic!
It’s a magical feeling relaxing surrounded by rain forest. The open air bathroom where the sinks and toilet are maybe bother some for some but honestly all you can see is jungle.
We did the hot tub and had a couples massage in the living room of the Tree House.

The next four days, we added a day, we spent in the School Bus. I thought it was going to be a huge downgrade, but I was wrong.
Sure sleeping in a TreeHouse is bad a** !!!, but the School Bus pulled its weight. For one thing the entire thing, besides the bathroom could be air conditioned. There is a huge covered deck around the bus with a long dining table and another sitting area.
Both the Tree House and the School Bus have kitchens with refrigerator, cooktops, coffee maker…. we usually made breakfast and enjoyed it outside listening to the ocean and birds. You can see( and hear) Macaws flying, toucans, and we would have a daily visit from hummingbirds.
The grounds are incredible and on Sonja’s tour tour she will point out various many different plants flowers and trees. The beach is no more than a couple minutes away. All off the staff are great. They take care off everyone including the grounds and preparing the hot tubs all with being hardly noticeable.
Being the rainy season it really didn’t matter, sure it rains but mainly after 3pm. Sometimes an hour or two, sometimes all night. I enjoyed not having as many people around. It’s easier to take your time and enjoy where you are. Nothing is to far away on the Caribbean side and Punta Uva is close enough while still feeling secluded.
Now about Sonja the hostess/caretaker of the property.
She takes care of absolutely anything and everything. My wife wanted a pedicure and she set it up in Puerto Viejo. She makes sure the staff gets the hot tub ready. Everyday she saw us would ask if we wanted fresh bananas.
Trust me , you want the fresh bananas. YUM
