This is the first allegedly four-star hotel I’ve ever stayed in that didn’t provide in-room coffee or an iron and ironing board. And the lobby coffee wasn’t set out until 8 am. It’s basically a tiny room with a bathroom and a small desk and desk chair. Even the hotel bar was shut down. To top it off, they made me pay a “destination fee” of $25 at check in, after I’d already pre-paid for the room. Pass.

DO NOT BOOK! The room is not as advertised. It’s not a wooden floor. It’s basically a stripped back floor with paint stains and cracks. The toilet was broken. The Elevator is the scariest thing you’ll ever ride. Something straight out of a 1950s horror film. Dark and fragile like it could break at any second. There’s a speaker in our room that the employees can speak over. Someone was speaking at 10pm at night. I was so scared I went to the front desk to ask what that was. The guy looked at me like I was crazy. Then dropcalled the phone in my room to try and scare me. There was NO ONE THERE. Like 3 other people staying there with 11 floors. No breakfast or food whatsoever. Not even an electric kettle, tea, microwave or mini-fridge. Plugs were too far away from the bed to charge and use at the same time. Oh and the worst part the walls were thin. Could hear the couple next door doing it.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. Scam artists. Double charged me for a room. The rooms are the size of a closet. Elevators are shaky. No refrigerators. Staff was incompetent. AVOID AVOID AVOID

The staff is super friendly and helpfull.

The beds are so comfy and big. Our window to the street was a on the small side. Street sounds not to disturbing.

Room had nice design elements to it. Bathroom clean and fresh as well as tastefull design. Could have been a drawer for clothes added. Otherwise everything was great.

They seemed to have a small gym as well, they should add that to website info.

Location is superb as a tourist, close to many major attractions, good resturants and communication. Neighbourhood felt safe at all times.

I'd stay here again on my next trip!

Very nice hotel. They have turn down service and bathrobes in the rooms . My girlfriend needed a extra comforter and one was provided. The rooms had chocolate and ducks made from towels at the end of the bed

Solidly recommend this place. Decorated really nicely, spacious rooms for the location (they're not as big as you get in other cities, obviously, but for a New York room it was considerably larger than expected), and a great spot within walking distance to most of Manhattan's attractions. Really had a great time, and would definitely return.

Traveled with my wife to new york to see the city and the hotel was perfect. everything we had hoped for and more. Felt like having our own little home in nyc

Immediately struck a bad chord when I was informed that coffee would not be available until 8:00 in the morning. No coffee makers in rooms. Foo. What's an early riser to do? I hated the place.
Truth is, the room was exactly as it appeared on the site. The bed was very comfortable. The hot water stayed hot. All areas were clean. It was quiet. But there was no coffee maker, and no coffee until 8:00.
At 8:00 the next morning I was greeted by an employee named Francisco, who not only directed me to my first cup, but also obliged my husband with a brief history of the building. And then he informed me that coffee makers were available upon request. I love this place.
My rating would've been 5 stars if the surrounding area were a bit better. And if they put the coffee out at 6:00 so that I wouldn't need a coffee maker in the room in the first place.

The room was very nice and decent size for NYC. I loved the minimal decor. We felt comfortable and happy to stay at Life Hotel with its perfectly clean rooms and great location. Staff were friendly and helpful. They kept our bags prior to check in and after check out.

Looking forward to going back again.

So I flew from the island of Puerto Rico after 35yrs and decided to go to my native city of NY. on a brief vacation. My experience in The Life Hotel was awesome. Loved the clean room and beautiful bathroom. The location was right on point and the receptionist and staff were very kind and friendly. I highly recommended it and would definitely come back and bring ensalada de pulpo.

Just came back from the Life Hotel NYC ( 2 adults and 7 year old Kid)
The stay was wonderful, clean room, comfortable bed, large room and large bathroom .
Very quit other then the noise from outside which is normal for NYC.
Absolutely no issues at all and would stay here again without any hesitation.
15 minute walk from Time Square, Bus and Subway is 2 minutes away, Starbucks and coffee shops 1 minute walk.
There is parking for 55 dollars a day but if you use the SpotHero parking site you can find parking for as low as 30 dollars a days within 15 minutes walk.
Overall 10/10 experience.

We came in with some friends for the Big East Tournament, great location only a short walk to the Garden. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, check in process is easy and they store your bags so you can go about your day. Rooms are very clean and a great size for a New York hotel. Definitely think of this hotel if you are traveling to New York!

I would highly recommend the Life Hotel to anyone travelling to New York City! The location is perfect for sightseeing, food and drink, and access to public transport to go further. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The washroom was large, clean, nice fixtures, and good water pressure. Check in was easy with helpful and friendly staff. We will happily stay again on our next visit!

I was very satisfied with this hotel. You know I was very first-time for traveling a road. It was so challenging and also worried little. But the hotel CLERKS were so nice and very kind. They could meet my requirements well! I hope that I can visit here someday again! Thx:)

Had a wonderful stay ... check-in was simple. The room was glamorous and clean. Temperature was easy to control. Staff were helpful and welcoming .Any questions I had were addressed quickly . The recommendations were helpful. I would rebook this hotel to anyone sightseeing. Steps away from empire state building. A quick 15 minute walk away from Times Square.

My stay was pretty standard but I must say, you'll have a terrible time sleeping if you book on the first floor as the staff is very loud and chatty. Since 5am I have been awake from loud laughing and chatting. (between checkouts) It warrants a two star because, you know, SLEEPING is a very important part of an overnight. After turning in at 12:30 am, getting maybe 4 hours of solid sleep is not ideal at all. There is nothing keeping the sound out. It sounds as if they're speaking inside the room. Let's hope me and my spouse can have a good day today while sleep deprived.

Charming old building on 5th and 31st. I got a large hardwood floored room on the 4th level facing away from the street. That meant no sunlight into the room day or night. I guess it was for the best, as I could hear car horns and emergency vehicles. Like I said, the building is old - but the water pipes clanging at 2am was disconcerting. Close the bathroom door before turning in. The newly installed VoIP phones also give out way too much light at night. Best unplug it before sleep. Complimentary coffee in the morning. Overall, good stay for my first visit to NYC.
