The dishes were thoughtful, creative and seasonal - featuring mushrooms, duck, sea bass, pears and figs. Each dish was delicious and delicate yet filling. Everything was perfectly cooked and each element on the plate served a purpose and worked together. I can not forget the pear dessert with poached pear, choux pastry, caramel sauce. I have dined at 3-star michelin places and I honestly prefer this place. The food is not forceful, it feels natural and just right for the setting. The vibe is casual and the small team of servers are super knowledgeable about the menu and know how to give you space to enjoy your meal. An honourable mention goes to the wine served by the glass. At most restaurants, the good stuff can only be served by the bottle, which is inconvenient if only one person drinks. Here, we found an excellent cote rotie (Sybarine from Domanie Garon to be exact) that you could order by the glass. It was so good that we visited the winemaker the next day and bought a bottle.
We stayed here for just one night and would definitely stay longer in future. The hotel rooms have been tastefully renovated and are set in the side building of an old chateau. Beds were super comfy, the views were lovely and you can go right up to the chateau door. However, you can't go in yet as it is not safe. We learned that the main castle is in the process of being renovated to create new rooms for the hotel.
A top hotel and restaurant that needs to be experienced. When visiting Cote Rotie, this is the best place to stay if you don't want to compromise on comfort and quality.
Best thank you to Yannick and team for the hospitality and unforgettable experience.
